THANKS FOR WATCHING! But actually go get some chomps from the link in the description, you can't be slacking on the protein.
Also check out justin in the description! More videos soon
Maybe I will :D
I’m definitely getting some 🔥
hi sipover
Ryan thanks for posting this video because I am planning my first ever mountain climbing trip and this was a climb I wanted to do ( I have a bit of experience)
Ryan, can you re-attempt Mt. chimborazo?🥺
Hey Ryan, I've been following your journey since your Everest summit, and I’m the same age as you. I used to struggle with finding hobbies I could truly stick to and pursue. But in the past few months, I've started climbing local mountains here in Vancouver, BC. I just wanted to thank you for shedding light on the world of mountaineering-it’s been incredibly inspiring and has really helped me find a passion. Keep doing what you’re doing!
this is so sick
This is awesome. Keep it up and keep living life man!
Be proud👍🏻
“If he dies I’m cooked” is crazy Lmaoo btw Justin seems like a cool guy. Should continue doin even more climbs with him!
this is seriously one of the coolest channels i’ve seen on yt. took me like a week to finish the everest video and to think that i watched sipover a couple years ago too, you’re truly awesome man
Thanks a ton i appreciate that :)
Babe wake up, Ryan Mitchell posted a new video
lol😂
So true
🙂
😂😂😂 awake 😂😂😂
Always a good day seeing an upload, The videos with justin are always good to see. :)
Man I’ve done st Helen’s from both routes, and pretty much all of the cascade volcanos, but THIS… man this takes major balls, and is in a league of its own. Hugely stoked for you two. You may have just created the hardest route in the Cascades Volcanos.
Even though you bailed, still a huge accomplishment.
For those who don’t get how crumbly it is, if you stand on the true summit, you can basically hear a continuous rumble of landslides and avalanches. INSANE level of grit here.
Excellent choice turning back and not doing the rest. You guys still killed it either way! Great video, keep up the great work man!
Summitted via the standard route on 8/15. Seeing the scree fields again brought a shiver down my spine. Climb on brother!
I lived 3 hours from there, and when she blew, it snowed down ash like you wouldn't believe! And the day turned to night it was wild! I was 7, and I remember running in my house to tell my mom it was snowing out! She said it's May. What are you talking about? lol.
Yes I remember :(
That was freaking insane. I'm at a loss for words. I'm glad you guys finally realized how insane what you were doing was and aborted the mission.
My stomach is in knots watching this. So scary! So loose! Glad you are safe!
Hooked me from your great Everest journey. Appreciate the filmmaking and the informative commentary. Really look forward to your uploads now.
Safe travels man!
From Monrovia, CA.
I always look forwards to your climbs this one was definitely unexpected and awesome
Man! I thought your trip through Khumbu Icefall was sketchy. Seeing your grab onto those loose rocks hoping they don't give way was nuts. Good call cutting the trip short. Look forward to more of you adventures. Something I can't or ever will be able to do. Managed to overcome learning to walk again, and I'm happy to just walk simple trails under my own foot power. There are lots of things I'd love to do. I'll leave that to people like you.
Well done on re-learning to walk, huge accomplishment 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Definitely a lot of sketchy footing up there... holy crap. Just watching made my butt pucker. Thanks for sharing!
Epic! My muscles were burning from watching you two! Glad you’re safe!
The best mmountaineers know when to call it off. very good job guys ! keep safe
You and Justin are such a good duo, y’all inspired me to climb Humphries Peak in Flagstaff, my first 10000’+ mountain
Congrats!!
I've always been fascinated with this mountain. Thank you for documenting this so well so I don't have to climb it. :D That goes for Everest too. You saved me a LOT of money... and probably my life.
You are amazing dude. You go above and beyond! You will have millions of followers in no time 👍
Whoa. I never guessed it would be that hard to traverse. Awesome views inside the crater.
Nice climb bro, Mt st helens is what usually introduces people to mountaineering but not for you!
Did the rim traverse as a 3 day ski tour a few years ago for Christmas vacay, was totally spectacular with some spicy alpine ice climbing, seeing the crater from all vantage points was so epic. This video makes me wanna do it next summer to see it without snow. Cheers bro
The name "Plains of Abraham" goes crazy. biblical to the max
You've gone on some crazy climbs before obviously, but the geology of this one is just so cool, the aftermath of a pretty recent explosive eruption like this and how it affected both the mountain and the area around it is super cool to see. Also neat to see the areas where life is coming/came back!! Earth's pretty neat :)
I’ve done the Worm Flows winter route and that was easy compared to what you guys just did. All that loose talus/scree/rock was seriously suspect. Good choice roping up. Way to go for it and staying alive.
Thanks for taking us with you, the views were the most spectacular so far on your climbs, and the scariest; my heart was in my throat several times watching you both negotiate some of that terrain!!!😂😮
Nice work Ryan and Justin!!👍
My new favourite UA-camr/Adventurer. Best videos.
i absolutely love watching your climbing videos and im looking forward to seeing K2 next year!
you inspired me to go and prepare for everest summit, thanks alot and btw amazing vid!!
he’s a beauty this channel is just vibes, hikes and watching bros progression helllla tuff🌅
What a treat this morning, Ryan posted a new video! Hands down the best videos on climbing.
Mans climbed Everest and is working backwards now 😆
Good job Ryan! Glad you got as far as you did safely! I would still consider it an accomplishment and awesome adventure 😊
Wow Ryan, your a beast. I remember when it erupted and the sky went very red a few days later in Massachusetts
Best educative climbing content ever on YT! Thanks for taking us along for the ride of moving earth and tumbling rocks. Scare level 11 out of 10.
Great teamwork! That must be one of the hardest volcanic mountain traverses in the world. Please be safe.
That view was unreal 😮 also congrats on the chomps sponsorship🙌 i dont hike without them!
Love the videos, You've inspired me to start my mountaineering journey!
One of the biggest eruptions in modern history... great content brothers massive respect we would love to do this
Zero risk of becoming a classic route 😂
COME ON this has got to get on all trails
@@RyanMitchellYT hahaha - “easy walk”
This is the best hiking channel rn. I feel like im part of it
Good job, guys. I enjoyed it and brought back some awesome memories.
awesome channel! love tis vid and all the super sketch with it. keep going for it, Ryan. Sending lots of love from Bermuda!❤❤❤❤❤
Wow big fan, never miss your new videos. Best Mount Saint Helens climb video ever posted.
Your videos have made me want to pursue mountaineering! I live in CO so it can only go up from here! Thanks for the great content :D
Super talented hiker! Wish I could do what you do.
love your vids man, youngest mountaineer out there. i want to start my journey soon aswell and youve been a big help. keep posting 💯
Amazing adventure
Glad for the recommendations for once
Les goooooo🎉🎉🎉🎉 love from India bruv I'll be sumiting it next year
Amazing job guys. Insane idea. Thank you.
Great practice for House's Chimney. Also good experience of turning back rather than risking too much!
My gosh seems like the whole mountain got shaken to bits when the volcano erupted! Heard so many stories from my parents who live in eastern WA about the ash that basically covered the whole state after it went off, thanks for taking the risk to see it up close so I don't have to lol!
great climb - wayyyyy sketchy! smart move to go down...like you said...live to fight another day!
Good morning king 🤩 the character upgrades are real hahaha your amazing
Thanks (I think) Ryan. Whew!! I had to look away a few times.
That’s awesome man. Saint Helen’s has such a menace history. Love your shit man.
so glad i subbed to your channel after the Everest video, your life is so sick dude!
It is a wise choice to descend and return in time. I have climbed Mount Rinjani before, and the loose volcanic ash, sand and gravel road is too tiring and time-consuming.
Yassssss, New video lets goooooooo! You've inspired me to attempt to summit Kilimanjaro in 2026, so if you want to join let me know.
I summited St Helen’s last month. The crater rim is gorgeous and the 360 views are insane
That friend of yours who bail out on that V section was a smart man! That was so dangerous young boys.
Diabolical! Great video!
Dude why am I getting sweaty just watching those sketchy parts! 🤣🤣🤣 My balls caving in too! 😂😂😂
Awesome video mate, you and Justin seemed to have been friends for a while! Such an awesome mountain guide vibe!
love your channel!!!! also every time you drink water directly from the source it makes me so nervous please don't get giardia lol
Dude that was brutal. I was kinda worried for you in all that crumble and time not working in your favor.
This made my palms sweat, the everest video didnt make me feel like this
Great video and i really enjoy the video!
I urge you to go to glacier national park & hike all of those mountains. You could probably knock them all out in a week. Props mate 👏
YESSS MOUNT ST HELENS!! SO EXCITED TO WATCH :D I LOVE UR VIDEOS
I always thought I wanted to trundle rocks. Turns out that when you can trundle the whole mountain it’s actually a huge pain 😅
NEVER AGAIN
Man the mountain is blasted to bits. Its like a moon mountain.
Crazy attempt but good call to head down! Live another day, hike another summit.
Been wondering how the move to Washington went. Kept looking for a video to be posted while we were in the middle of hurricane Helene recovery in GA. Needed the distraction! Actually glad it posted today because we finally got good Internet restored!!
Observations/Questions:
Justin must have calves of steel because he spends a lot of time on his toes. Maybe you do too but I can only see his.
I'm wondering if this shows the difference between rockclimbing and mountaineering. I just got sucked into the Everest videos in the spring and took a deep dive. Interesting learning what's what!
How did you keep the rocks out of your shoes?
Why not some kind of crampons/spikes in the loose rock for traction?
Did Justin only wear gloves when he was using the rope? Why not gloves all day?
I'd have to go read up on belay ropes again but don't you have to tie it to something sturdy? How did Justin trust what he roped around?
Do geologists make trips up there to collect rock samples?
Excellent video. You call Mt. St. Helen sketchier than Everest, that's saying something
Hell yeah
Yooooo Ryan! Thanks for posting a video! You've gotten me hooked! Have you ever thought about trying mountains in europe or south america?
Amazing place ❤❤❤
Been a while since I hiked Helens ('13 I believe?). I miss all the big boulder scrambling that you had to do in the middle portion. Do not miss the scree/lose gravel two steps forward one step back on the final push the crater though. That is just brutal to get through. I'd still do it again regardless of the scree because that's essentially all it is for the final push, no false summits, no ridge-line traverses, I can handle a mile feeling like two. Saw earthquake / geographical monitoring equipment which was nice to see. Not too pleased about the Johnson Ridge observatory being closed severely limits the casual goer's options for Helens.
Good stuff dude!
I’ve had chomps everyday for over a year and they’re hands down the best meat stick on the market.
you are an inspiration dude
Ty for the content
Chompz is very good 👍👍👍😊
How and at what age did you find your passion for climbing? Im from the Alps and climbed my first real mountain using ropes and stuff at 7, but I lost track of it till now. I realized through your videos how much I love it. Keep going love your vids 🙌
Your videos are very inspiring!
Wow! That was scary!
I've been eating chomps for years! My favorite are the jalapeño flavor
Love the diggy hole reference
You guys just escaped, in time. Good call.
19:52 Great shot of Rainier in the background. I wonder when that will blow it's top
THIS GUY IS SO COOL AND IM GONNA GO BUY ALL CHOMPS NEAR ME
I free solo’d the hike up half dome this past summer so I’m extremely knowledgeable. If I had any advice for a beginner like you Ryan I’d probably say leave the rope at home next time that’ll probably slow you down too much . Also going solo can be a good idea cause others who aren’t as able as you (Justin) can hold you back … just my 2 cents
☠️
Is Justin not a qualified guide and You can’t really call someone who has climbed Everest and a few other big hills a beginner
You have a gear list to overview what you use generally to climb these types of mountains? been thinking of been getting into mountain climbing a bit more.
25:00 ~ I could hardly watch the progress at this point. With all the winds and death fall on each side. Man, glad to see you guys made it out okay.
I obviously know you got down safely, but my goodness, this was really scary to watch!!! How many climbers do this traversing of the rim?
Very good. More content please! Don't hurt you!
Giant steps are what you take walkin’ on the moon.
I hope my legs don’t break walkin’ on the moon.
Gnarly cross nightmare. My knees could have handled that 20 years ago!
LETS GOO NEW VIDEOOOO
