I use to make 2851 vogue calvin kleins back in the late 80s...I made a pair for EVERYONE...they were the relaxed fit that was SO IN...I loved making the pockets a surprise for the client. ALSO loved making them in corduroy and making the cords run sideways! ppl clamored for a pair. BUT NOW it is time to make myself a forever pair. ME & my man ONLY. Time to find some wholesome muslin and make a master pattern! TYTYTY! U R just an amazing artist...I love every stab of your needle!

Sorry I saw this wisdoms too late. Donated lots too small in sizes of old jeans to the recycle bins already! Felt sad. Those were great jeans, I just gained weights and unable to fitted into them with great textures and materials. Next jeans - no more recycle bins! Than you for sharing!
The slightly offset pockets are a very subtle design choice that works great. The different fades on the indigo makes it look like 'fake' boro patches. The crotch/inseam section looks like a nightmare to stitch. 😅
When putting a piece of the patchwork/fabric onto the old jeans, do you remove the old area of the jeans and replace it with the new fabric/patchwork or do you sew the patchwork on top of the jeans? I may have missed it in the video but I believe you remove the old area and replace it with the new fabric/patchwork - just want to ask personally if that is correct? Can't stop watching ha!
You are right! I remove the old area and replace it with patches for this pair! I sometimes just putting a piece onto old area as well. It is all depending on how I feel about the style!
when jeans are made and then distressed, it weakens the thread before it destroys the fabric. This is why ready made jeans do not last too long. I believe the pants you are making here will last forever and never come apart. But HOW do you handsew through those layers with that heavy thread and barehanded?? What thread is that you are using by the way? Very good videos.
What kind of thread do you use? Why does it look so heavy duty. I kind want to do the same thing you're doing to a pair of pants I recently bought 2nd hand and it looked out of date years ago however the denim in those jeans are pretty good quality. The style is kinda ugly and having put off from doing anything to them since I don't know what thread is strong enough to pierce through denim. I do have a sewing machine but it will have a hard time sewing through denim and you've given me inspiration to so something to a pair by stitching them by hand
Oh my goodness these are beautiful. I notice you use recycled jeans. Where do you live because I can buy wrangler and levis for a dollar each. Also where do you buy your needles? Do you use 6 strand floss our sashiko thread? And what is the name of the stitch you use? I know i have tried many thimbles but my fingers are too small so i just put fabric bandages around two of my fingers to be able to push. DO you have an online lesson place I could go to learn? I'd be willing to pay.

Christian Perry For hand stitch, I use thick enough to hold the pressure of hand stitch and sharp edge to saw through thick fabric! For machine sewing, I recommend you to ask your mechanic about the needle size👍

I re-stitch my old jeans too, entirely by hand and it become so much more comfortable to wear. I wore it everyday ever since.
