it’s dumb that i see lab, mikanko , yubel even rescue in the event. like most people aren’t even using an XYZ deck
There should be a banlist specifically for this event. Ban decks that have no intention of playing xyz cards like Lab and Mikanko.

This event is honestly shit. People are rarely playing actual xyz decks, they're just playing meta decks at full power. This is honestly a duelist cup with an "xyz restriction"

Yeah, those the only xyz decks even in this event. Though I played blind going second Spiders to level 20 (Shit event, not going to try to get to the next stage though. I just wanted the diamonds and cute title.)
@@stevenwhitcomb4084 I played a bit of almost every xyz deck I have, except Lyrilusc because I forgot it on my konami ID account, but after almost reaching rank 20 and losing the coinflip + match 3 times in a row, then going back to 18 after some really random stuff that happened, I decided to stop having fun and played purrely, went 9/3 but I had a misclick on one match and I probably could've won the other two but they were lab players going first so I didn't even bother and went to next match. I just wanted the diamonds and the title as well but ffs kashtira and horus were annoying as hell always opening full combo
Most I bought was 3 structures for galaxy eyes needing 1 cipher 2 galaxy eyes craft a few srs and URs assuming have royal just needing harbinger and photon lord craft generic wise besides maybe tachyon or cyber dragon infinity
I'm using Exosister but yeah the last matches I had was Umi Control, Labrynth and Mikanko, no Xyz in the cup and the funny thing is that Floo is the only one banned
Whoever thought it was a good idea to make this event a Discount DC, allow non-Xyz related decks and strategies and keep Maxx C on top of that should have a really special place in the Shadow Realm

I think the worst part is that it's a shifter format event. Exosisters and Kashtira can run incredibly comfortably under shifter and Kashtira obviously has Ariseheart too to help this even further. This chokes the life out of so many other decks in the format that could exist.
An xyz event where the majority of decks i play against are not xyz decks is just a failed design.
I expected sm of this event, finally get to use Gunkan, Galaxy Eyes, Exosister but noooo just Umi Control, Labrynth, Mikanko. I don't really care about the use of Kashtira at least is an Xyz deck
there are a couple of reasons why this event sucks so hard.
1. we just had a tryhard wcq duelist cup (and another one not too long ago before that), where is the variety?
2. they don't focus on the theme XYZ and allow a bunch of crap decks like lab, stun and whatever that's not related to xyz summoning
3. there are a lot of players that don't have a competitive xyz deck ready to go, and konami offers no loaner decks to help with this issue. yes there are some budget options that will get you the gems, but you will not really be able to compete in the second stage without crafting a better deck

They probably allowed the non-xyz decks because they knew that not everyone has a competitive xyz deck. Of course, this ended up making the whole theme pointless and the format devolved into your regular DC nonsense with even less diversity. It's like a comedy scene where one guy came up with a terrible idea and everyone just goes along with it rather than slapping the guy in the face.

@@mrc-rrn while I don't care about the second stage in these events for the time being, the fact that they limit it to XYZ (yes I understand decks like lab are still usable, I guarantee there will be upcoming challenges that require XYZ summoning) and don't provide people with loaners is what really pisses me off about this event. I could enter into the other cups with good synchro decks I have, but these are entirely unusable in this one and I don't have any good XYZ deck to speak of (or anything that isn't fusion or synchro). I need to run a garbage blind second deck that's super cheap (lyrilusc OTK) and it's a nightmare to win matches.

Arise-Heart isn't used enough to get banned in Master Duel.
They need to ban shit like lab, mikanko, and race. It's not even an XYZ cup when you get into the higher lvls
The hardest fights for me were lab and mikanko. Specifically mikanko because they gain advantage so quickly and easily.

there will always be a meta on these events, but allowing non-xyz decks like lab, mikanko, r-ace, yubel, some stun nonsense, floodgates, maxx c, etc is what truly killed this event for me
@@kai1422 this is a cup, not a standard event. Why it is a cup? I have no idea. Fair enough if people want to play meta and sweat a bit in this one, but the fact you're banning 3/4 of the summoning methods for a competitive event that has no loaners is beyond me.

I hate any "cup" event. It's just ranked and we (normal non-sweaty players) already don't enjoy ranked, WE PLAY EVENTS TO ESCAPE RANKED/TO ESCAPE COMPETITIVE.
Konami understands perfectly all of this but instead chooses to be trash and incompetent and greedy

They seem to ban cards that dump cards from Extra Deck to GY. Also maybe because when some of them activate their effects it locks you out from Extra Deck for the rest of the turn. Maybe that’s why they banned Floowandereeze cards too since you cannot special summon the turn you activate any small bird effects. I do agree it’s stupid that they ban these cards and let other stronger decks like Lab run free.
Dogmaballs gets banned because the entire deck revolves around extra deck ripping. Floo got banned because they lock you from special summons. Monarch got banned because they floodgate the extra deck. Lab and Mikanko don't need to be extra deck reliant, but they can actually use it to summon XYZ if they want to, or even lean into it. These other decks can't, or use it very rarely. I dunno what their excuse for barrier statue stun or chain burn is, though. That's just terrible banlist planning. I can kind of go to bat for Lab/Mikanko because they don't line up with the other bans, but stun makes zero sense, even when I'm trying to be charitable to their decision making.

My first Duel in this event using Exosisters; I went going Second against The Herald of Ultimateness with 8 Negates!!! It was so stupid and painful

Gotta love Konami's job of balancing the cards in this event. They killed Floo, made a lot of Stun cards forbidden but then just leave decks like Mikanko, R Ace and Lab completely untouched.

For me, the appeal of MD events is that they give me an excuse to take a break from the ladder and use casual strategies that would never get the dust knocked off otherwise. When cups roll around, I farm the gems as quickly as possible and bow out. Even if I didn't have to work for a living, the idea of spending 3 straight days dueling as much as possible sounds like misery. Yu-Gi-Oh is only fun if you do it in small doses. duel for an hour or two and you can almost remember why you still play it...but the more you marathon it, the more you remember what a broken, unfun, barely-functioning mess of a game it is.
I’m playing Evil Eye because it has good main deck interruption but also has very very easy access to rank 3s. It’s consistent and relatively cheap
We already have ranked format if they wanna do Cups do them with regular banlist in the current ranked format for the month with it taking over regular ranked that month and give us our for fun festivals I do not get why Konami think we need another ranked mode that occasionally just pops up forcing us to pick if we wanna spend our time this month sweating out ranked for M1 or Sweating out Duel cups for rank 19/20 depending on when you get brick walled.
It's also just dumb that they letting Lab go around being the best xyz deck in xyz festival without ever needing to xyz summon most games.

If it was a regular event, it wouldn't be so bad. Gain enough points to get all the gems and be done with it. I have a problem with it being an xyz CUP event. It's beyond annoying. But...I'm done with it. Burn deck all the way to 19. Got the gems and back to ladder
I like festivals because of the gems, of course, but also because I can try new decks with the loaners in the Event, so yeah I didn't like Konami decision at all.
My only complaint is just the Lab and Mikanko in the XYZ Cup, they should ban Ritual cards too IMHO

This event shows why Purrely is such a bullshit deck and deserves to be gutted. A monster like Noir should take investment to summon, not just "normal summon Purrelyly and draw 4 cards with your unaffected boss monster"

If Kash and all its bullshit is allowed, I don't see why not the cats. The only threat in purrely is Expurelly Noir, and that's it.
Maxx C in the format makes Purrely so much more annoying, because they get 2-6 more chances to draw into it and then shotgun it from behind a Towers. Such a dumb deck
Someone's a hater. Imagine complaining about a deck that is part of the event and not the 50 decks running around that shouldn't even be allowed in an xyz event probably because you been getting outplayed using 1 of them

What is there to defend by having a towers that can spin back multiple cards, draw 2, 4 or even 6 cards probably full of handtraps to further prevent you from playing the game (and most likely drawing into Maxx c) and even through all that nonsense they still go +3 when you managed to get rid of their towers. Literally the only arguments are "it's an xyz deck" and "just draw the out" or "just go first"

So far I'm having a blast because you can be a creative again making an XYZ decks which is fun but some people ain't unfortunately using decks that are not XYZ decks at all That's the only problem I have with it so far
i only use a stun deck cuz thigns like tira and tears is in these.

I dont see any enjoyment in completely turning off your brain and just sitting behind floodgates, i do believe only people who cant comprehend the complexity of the game and doesnt want to learn to the game so they go towards the easiest path to win without having to know little to nothing about the game and makes them feel like they are actually winning due to outplaying their opponent. You players are worst than any other yugioh player.

Out of 18 duels I have literally only seen 2 opponents actually playing the game. The rest were Burn, Stun, Stall, or an FTK. You know it’s bad when I’m hoping to run into a Kash playet
Ya, this event is terrible. I want the gems and non of the xyz decks interest me at all to have built. The amount of people going second on coin toss is ALOT (because everyone is playing cheap OTK decks), and I myself am just playing the cheapest deck I found that has 1 super rare (lyrilusc OTK) to just grind it. It bothers me that you can only use XYZ and there are no loaners...
The fact that there are no loaners is my biggest gripe, because just like the rest of the events, I'm not buying 10k gems to build a deck I won't play past an event. I'm trying to get the gems in the event to build my other decks I actually want to play. Give us loaner decks we can fricken use, and all these problems go away.
I'm using Mikanko because no loaners. All the xyz deck I'm interested in is expensive to build just for 1 eveny.
I played labrynth first, then some numeron and blue-eyes OTK, Mathmech + Centur-ion that I made my own version after losing to a japanese player (I really like both archetypes), then I played Purrely to push to 20 easily after losing 3 times on the rankup match. I still had Lyrilusc to play but facing lab, mikanko, kashtira, horus and purrely were a snoozefest, trash event

While I'm fine with the other cups, limiting one to just XYZ is really annoying since we don't get loaners in competitive events (where are the tactical try decks?????). I don't have a sweat deck in that current flavor, so I have to grind through sweats with crap.
I have swordsoul which is just dead, blackwings that doesn't have bravestrix in the game for the kaliyuga build and blue eyes OTK, which is arguably worse than 1 super for go second and pray lyrilusc OTK lol.
@@CamelotsmoonThe issue isnt limiting decks it’s making themed events be competitive. Also they didn’t limit to Xyz at all. They left all sort of non Xyz strategies open. Which is making the problem 10x worse

Because like literally every master duel event, the subject of the event is what i and i assume many see, ive come across another xyz deck maybe 5 times the entirety of me trying to grind gems, it sucks running into almost exclusively lab, mikanko, and various stun strategies
With Generaiders its fun at times... havent seen any other GR players tho, trough pure GR in this event is on full power.

My best experience with master duel was when they released the despia cards and the Fusion Festival was underway. Tax dragon turbo was definitely a solid investment.

My Deck has a few xy Monster but this Deck doesnt perform Well without Link Monster and i have 0 SR and 0 Ur since i try to get all my SR and Ur in the Deck as royal finish

It's cuz you'll run into a Lab or Purrely deck and you can't do shit. Almost all of my decks run on links and fusions, so I had to scrap together a Bystial Horus deck that bricks like crazy and put it out there. I run into these full power Purrely or Lab decks and have no chance.
3x Spellbound, 3x Maxx C, 3x Ash, 2x Called By, 1x Crossout, 2x imperm, 2x Veiler, 3x Evenly Matched, 2x Dimension shifter, 2x TTT, 1x Thrust, 3x Kaiju. Okay, now i can begin to build my deck for the XYZ Cup.

Ive been using yubel for this event personally i just made it to level 18 . Pretty much got my entire yubel deck off this event alone without spending a penny just need a few extra deck cards now

I think these events would be way better if we were stuck into pre made decks by konami maybe a choice of more than 3 decks. That way we can have more of a balance.
the event I had the most fun was the Exodia vs destiny table vs reptile, loaner decks only
If I remember the XYZ era which I do quite well, it was dominated by specific decks, but also most normal monster these days did what those XYZ monsters did, and the newer XYZ monsters aren't that different minus a few overpowered ones. So you can pretty much just run a run of the mill modern deck and it should be able to stomp any XYZ deck.
Man I love xyz cards and hoped to finally have a chance to play vs some cool xyz deck instead all i see is burn and other decks that aren't xyz

I realized in the last extra-mix festival I don’t really have a true XYZ deck lol so I played counter Fairies. I pulled it back out for this and barely make xyz

There are a lot of N/R common UR decks online you can try.
Been using Exosisters for the event, started late but got 21 wins to 6 losses so far, and 2 of those were insta scoops against Kashtira stun and Yubel. Even in mirrors and going 2nd it's treated me nicely. It's basically the only XYZ deck I have built so it seemed like the perfect chance to bust them out.
2 games I won were against stun/burn/trap decks and managed to turn it around with 100LP on one and 50LP on the other and barely scraped by. 😂
Really enjoying this deck with Virtual World. Probably have like an 85%+ winrate lol

i'm playing pure tistina, and it is fun wiping boards especially horus. it's just the field spell sucks because if the card you sent to graveyard goes to banishment instead, you don't special summon crystal god tistina.

this cup actually made me build kash (which i wanted to) and it's really a blast to play it even tho it has many bricks.

@@arey256 I'm F2P out of principle that Komoney doesn't need anymore of mine due to master rule 4 shenanigans. I've never been straight up removed from playing a card game before just because my old decks required non-synergistic link monsters to simply attend locals. Actually killed the game for me until master duel + master rule 5 came out at the same time. I simply don't trust this company for my time if hundreds of dollars spent goes up in smoke just cuz.

I'm not a competitive person so I don't really go after Meta decks all the time but still want to play a lot of decks, with careful planning (and a bit of luck) I can build up so many. MD is pretty good for F2P
I'm F2P since I started playing February last year and I actually built a lot of decks, including some meta ones. But I prefer building stuff that I like instead of trying to follow every single meta, not fun/worth it
It still annoys me that they dont hit mikanko or labrynth but floo is still fucking banned.

and for some reason idk about you guys i seem to always have going second cards when i only got like 9 cards for going second, rank 8 spam but every single hand i have gamma and driver
I was going to play Galaxy-Eyes for fun in this event, then after 5 consecutive losses I just pulled out old reliable (Lab)
I was surprised that people picked Lab or Mikanko over Purrely. The grind with Purrely though was extremely easy
I lost the rankup match to DLv Max/20 3 times and even deranked to 18, switched to purrely and won 9 out of 12, and I had the chance to win the 3 that I lost, just didn't have patience to play against lab going second

They probably pick those because they don't have Purrely
The reason why themed events are mostly good is that they give 3 whole loaners to use so even if you don't have a deck that fits the theme you can still hop in with one of the loaners and let it rip.
DC events are glorified ranked duel where they assume you will use anything at your disposal so they don't bother giving your loaners. Not a lot of peeps like it cuz there's a lotta tryhards.
Now imagine some schmuck in konami thinking it'll be a good idea to combine the WORST aspects of both and expecting things to be good.
Im f2p so id play it if I could use a rental deck or smth but I just dont think Id stand a chance so haven't really tried
Not sure if I would have played the same as he did in the mirror match I would have just summon ash when my opponent has Zeus out and if they didn't use the effect then just made typhon
Im glad I got to use my stun deck lol made it to stage 2 . But it was a little more harder this time , bit not too bad.
I really thought kashtira would be the best deck, cuz I've seen a lot less purrely and they were also easily beatable, by chain blocking the right thing
If dkayed played games like that league or dota, with how much effort he puts he would be top rank 100%, but he would also probably stream snipe lmao. He doesnt even need to check out the deck builds, he knows exactly what they play from memory but he still pulls up mdm xD.
I actually despise this event so much. I pulled out my utopia deck only to verse the exact meta decks i see in ranked. I have lost so many matches to people not xyz summoning once the entire match. They need to revamp the xyz event next time and ban the non xyz arch type cards lowkey.
a better banlist and some cool loaner decks for those who doesn't want to spend on it and it would be a top tier event
It’s called XYZ cup and you see people playing Labrynth. Konami should ban archetypes for these events not just have a minimal ban list

My duels were only against 5% non meta decks, like out of the 80 or so duels so far I only saw a few Tistina, Utopia and some bricky Galaxy-Eyes decks.
Literally ever other deck was against Kash, Horus, Kash/Horus combined, with a sprinkle of Lab and Purrely, most of them using the Horus engine as well.
Basically it's a best/splashable engine ranked ladder with an xyz restriction.
This isn't a festival.
festivals should be a fun event that force everyone to play actual xyz deck and enjoy the game by play with something deferent but no
none xyz deck everywhere
the only good thing in the ban list is the floow hit
I want to get in and get my gems, but if they offered loaner decks I think it would feel less like a chore.
I hate it cause, all the decks i faced is
Lab stuns (not even an xyz), Mikanko (also not xyz deck), trash-tira (floodgate boss) and floodgate spells/trap setup

Konami should have at least allowed link monsters that are part of an Xyz based archetype to be used so we can utilise Xyz based decks at full power.
Ironically non-Xyz based decks benefit more from the event's banlist 😔
I am fine losing with other xyz deck but mikanko and labs really ruin the experience for me. Their main card doesnt even get ban, its almost full power labs and mikanko

They need a non meta anime deck based casual duel mode! Masterduel could be so much more
They should rename it to "XYZ Extra Deck only Festival".
I'm only doing it for the gems, too. I'm not even playing an extra deck. I'm just playing a self-destruct deck. I refuse to play the game seriously except against friends who aren't meta slaves. I'll change my mind when Konami cares about removing the most toxic omni-staples in the game and balancing the rest. In other words, never.
Doesn't help when the only modes for 90% of the time are ranked/casual.

@@Xelger as you described your way to approach the event in the first comment, at least as I could understand, you decided to not play the event in the way it is "intended" to be.
I don't know if you are playing mikanko, burn, lab or other decks, I just know you are not playing XYZ (by your comment)
As a lab player I do feel like why bother calling it an XYZ event if all the cards that are banned was almost nothing. I even made an XYZ deck believing that like previous events it would be neutered but to my surprise nothing main was touched. Still playing XYZ because I made the deck so why not
The problem with the cup is that Xyz decks struggle to deal with backrow. If this was a fusion cup, there wouldn't be much stun.
Rank 3, 4, 7 and 8 have access to backrow removal. Probably more, but those are the ones I'm familiar with. I know with floodgates the problem is actually getting there, or being owned by Skill Drain, but most Xyz decks that don't always lock themselves should have access to spell/trap removal.
They should make like a time capsule sht like XYZ event we only can play palezoic era decks.
Three reasons why the xyz cup is the worst and hated: 1. There are decks not focusing on xyz summoning, such as mikanko, lab, stun , and burn. 2. Maxx C is involved . 3. They are using cards that are anti xyz cards.
