They've removed the carrying case and the GPS and the rest is kinda just an updated Hero11 except the new mount and the blue speckles. Probably just a money saving thing, while still charging the same... Inflation, which they probably never will admit...
Yeah, either inflation or a way to make a higher profit margin. They very likely could keep the same production lines except for the minor changes like the new case or excluding the GPS chip.
--- BE AWARE -- NO GPS -- It's a shame that they removed the GPS from the GoPro 12 under the guise of energy-saving (it can be turned off easily). My first DISAPPOINTMENT was when with the HERO 8 they INTENTIONALLY BLOCKED (via software) the function to directly play on the TV (available in hero 7) in order to sell the MEDIAMOD ACCESSORY (another $100), jerks!! (I made the mistake of upgrading my GoPro 7 without realizing that, something GoPro never disclosed, and it went unnoticed as no review explained it!!). Still not happy and thinking customers are stupid, now they remove the GPS to cut costs, spouting some garbage explanation about battery life. In a few months, they'll sell the GPS separately as another wrist accessory (similar to what they did with the MEDIAMOD). Brilliant!! We decide whether to buy this camera or not, and I've already made my decision. Thankfully, you can still buy the GoPro 10 and 11. I think this GoPro will be a complete sales fail and rightfully so.
I got the case on eBay for like 11 bucks and with the 12 you get hdr and up to 2x battery life and for 50 bucks I personally think it’s worth it even though the kinda did nothing this year still worth the 50 over the 11 in my opinion
i got the hero 12 but was dissapointed with no GPS. with the GPS it would have been a complete camera. Without it is just limited to static or indoors activities. It's a hassle to use your phone and a third party app to record gps data without a way to add it to your photos and videos with gopro software. Insta 360 allows you to just use your phone as gps. Now the 13 black has added the GPS again but has less compelling features to upgrade from the 11 or 12. Those lenses don't interest me so i got an Insta 360 x4 for completely new features which the GoPro lacks. So i am using the hero 10, 11 and 12 depending on the situation. So yes, cutting the GPS and hard shell case on the 12 was a bad move and they know it.
Can someone please explain to me how does the battery function? I mean I saw a pack with 2 rechargable batteries included, but they did not mention anything about the charger =)))). Should I buy it separately or does the camera come with a charger by default? Also, are there any other types of batteries except for rechargable ones? Thanks!!
Ok so there are only rechargeable batteries for the GoPro as far as I know. As for a charger, the good news is that the GoPro has a USB-C port which allows you to charge the camera (and thus the battery in the camera). The bad news is that, no, GoPro does not include a charger in the traditional sense. However it’s fairly easy to pick up one like this one online ( amzn.to/3Xppg6A ) - either made by GoPro or not - which includes some extra batteries as well.
You can just charge the battery while it’s in the GoPro. Use a USB-C and open the GoPro’s battery door to connect it to the port, then plug it into a wall adapter.
Well there are always “reasons” as in, GoPro has added new features in order to justify their releases, however if you have a HERO 10 you’re probably good holding off for a bigger upgrade (possibly a redesign) next year. Starlapse mode, the taller sensor and a slightly redesigned UI are the only things you’d really be gaining by jumping to the HERO 12 IMO. You can install the folding fingers with the new quarter inch tripod mount built in on your HERO 10 I think.
So in general GoPro does not include a micro SD card with their kits anymore. However, certain promos they run or kits put together from third party retailers will often throw in a micro SD card cause it’s something most people will end up needing to purchase anyway.
Not with the GoPro itself. Though some retailers (and even GoPro occasionally) throw in a free micro SD card as part of limited time promotions or deals.
11. because gopro 12 removed gps so you cannot do overlays 4:30 and they also removed the carying case. if your starting with gopro cams get 11 but gopro 12 has 2.0 lens so they are ultrawide also it has highter quality and lasts longer. 12 is now also for blogging action you can buy 2.0 lens for action or blogging kit Summary: Gopro 12- +Is more for multi using can be used in action or in cities -Removed GPS -Removed Carying case
sorry i made a mistake max lens are compable with 11 and battery isnt that much better they did some improvements with the software but if i knew i would definitly go with 11
Yeah I’d hold off. The 13 isn’t expected to be a big upgrade but it’ll be out in September so if you already have the 11 it seems smart to wait and see what the new HERO (or upgraded GoPro 360 camera) is gonna offer.
Man I just got mine in the mail and Google this I'm pissed all my other GoPros came with the case GoPros getting cheap and I'm a subscriber what the hell
Yeah. Super annoying. They have started including the case with the bundle, but as I’m sure is the case with you (as well as myself and any other longtime GoPro user), you probably already have a decent supply of accessories and don’t need more. Maybe they’ll change it up with the GoPro 13 next year 🤞
Cause paper is a renewable resource in the sense that once the paper has been made it can be recycled or even burned for heat and new tree can be planted (that only within a small number of years can be harvested and turned into paper as well). Plastic on the other hand is made from fossil fuels (which take millions of years to form under perfect conditions in our earth) and once made takes thousands of years to break down.
That’s definitely annoying cause we do know it’s possible (Insta360 does it). I kinda wonder if we’ll see GoPro debut this feature at some point but so far it’s buy the HERO 11/earlier or go without GPS.
They take advantage of the whole inflation thing. I wonder what that camera cost gopro in production cost. They're making nice profit, and not even a case anymore. It's a rip off.
Haha yeah - and that’s not even considering that most of the “improvements” of the HERO 12 are reserved for those who shell out an extra $100 and get the Max Lens Mod 2.0. I’d guess their cost is somewhere between 150-200 a camera but that’s not really based on any facts. Could be less.
Yeah. A lot of people are pretty annoyed about that. I personally never really used it, but it really was a cool feature. Seemed to me like a shortsighted move by GoPro to save $5-10 on a GPS chip and “improve battery life”.
Appreciate the feedback and I’ll try to take it into consideration with future unboxing videos. However, usually the comment I get is that I take too long doing the unboxing.

@@DigitalTechReviewsTips The more exclusive kits however still contains the case. It's only the base kit they removed it from.

Well I was thinking of updating from my old Black Hero 8 to this but I am going with the 11 just because they cheapen out on the case!

Good point Jeff. Yeah, a shame they don’t include a case but true, definitely still affordable options out there.
You need to buy the bundle , you get a Hardcase.
Love the dry humor. Thank you for not wasting our time.

cant wait to get mine ! i just ordered online thanks!
Where is the SD card????
You didn’t mention anything about the huge difference in heating between 11 and 12
My brand new Hero 10 didn't have a case either. I got it in "e commerce" packaging.

How to charge a battery with a standard purchase?
You can just charge the battery while it’s in the GoPro. Use a USB-C and open the GoPro’s battery door to connect it to the port, then plug it into a wall adapter.

What are you planning on doing with you hero 11 mine stopped working and I tried warranting with them and it's still been 1 years in the process
I personally resold mine on facebook marketplace. That sucks yours stopped working. Any clue why? Did you try upgrading with the GoPro subscription?
So I have a 10 black right now are you telling me there’s no reason to upgrade

With GoPro Hero 10 there is no hardcase either anymore 😢
No card included ? Some seem to incl 64 gb card others not ?

bro bought a whole 399 dollar camera just for the stickers
You mean YOU bought a whole 399 set of stickers for the camera? 😂
I don’t get why paper is better than plastic if paper eliminates trees. Isn’t that hurting the environment either way

By “Max” do you mean the Max Lens Mod 2.0 or 360 Max?
the whole point of an unboxing vid is to go slow so viewers can see it its a shame you skipped through it

Do you think it's neccesary for you to show us the "aerial perspective"? Just showcase the product and leave the production BS out of it.
I mean I appreciate the honest input but it seems a lot of people like that aspect/view. But I’ll try to get more quickly to the device in the future.
