This is my first time restringing my guitar. I'm kinda paranoid for awhile ago because I thought it might pop and snap on me lol 😂 I used to have my dad fix it for me and now that he was gone, I gotta teach myself by watching these vids. Thank you so much!
I've played for over 55 years and never had pins as loose as on my new Gibson Songwriter! I'm used to friction holding pins in place. Bending the bottom of the string solved my problem. Never heard of it, and I teach guitar!! Thanks!!
I been bending my acoustic strings for the last 40 plus years now after being shown by one of the first guitarists i ever played acoustic with . Never had a lift problem . Great advise simply because it works
I been playing for over 50 years and this now is the first time I have learned of this technique. I probably should have asked friends because most likely some of them knew this valuable trick.
Thank you so much for pointing this out! I was just changing my strings and had this problem. You helped me to see the error of my ways. I was putting the ball end under the pin, and always had the string slip a little while tuning it up the first time. I've been doing it the wrong way for years!
Wow, I bought a guitar recently and last night I encountered the same issue while I was putting on the new strings and pretty much messed up 😂thanks a lot!!!
Does a lifted bridge pin affect the sound? I have a brand new fender 115 and the bridge pin on the thickest string came up about an eight or so the very first time I adjusted it. 3 or 4 of the 6 strings emit a sound that is reminiscent of an empty 5 gallon plastic bucket bouncing on a hardwood floor. Nice video by the way💯
Thanks for this informative video. I’ve learned that when you pull the string and push the pin in, l look for a little of the stings winding loops. If you see some, it’s pretty well seated.
I put the string just barely into the hole so that the pin pushes it right in. No slippage. I also put a cloth over the bridge as the string is being tightened because I still never trust the pin not to jump out. Thanks for the advice about bending the string.
My guitar is old and was used by someone else for quite a while before I ended up with it. The bridge pins holes are all bored out from many, many, previous string-changes. I recently changed the strings, and I can't even get the guitar in tune without the pins coming out. I tried putting them in backwards because it is tighter fit that way. They still pop right out. I think I just need bigger diameter pins or a new bridge at this point.
Thanks! My guitar is constantly getting out of tune. It’s probably because of the pins, I’ve noticed that they’re not 100% flush to the bridge. They are not the original ones and probably too small. I’ve lately realized they come in different sizes, which is not that evident on the packaging.
Only my e string on my Dean EAB Acoustic Bass comes out 😭 I try pushing it down but it comes out when I’m so close to being done with the tuning any reason why ??
If you have done this properly, I am guessing that the bridge plate inside the guitar is already worn out. You can check inside the hole with a mirror or camera.
I just got given a basic steel string acoustic guitar and one peg has been hammered into it's hole will I be able to get the bridge off with a pallet knife? I'm aware that the bridge has two pegs & glued onto guitar body. I'd like to fix this problem if possible 🎶🎼
When the bridge pin breaks, you can push it from the inside. Make sure that there is no tension on the string. It could help to push the string inward to unlock it.
Three options: 1. Don't use that strings set on your guitar, 2. Make the hole a little bigger, 3. Insert the other end of the strings from the inside and let the ball end lock in it's place under the bridge. I suggest, option 3 is the best. I hope this helps.
I have a guitar with a very worn bridge, the strings have cut into the bridge, I put cheap fake pearls. I string the pearls through the wire then you have to insert the string through the inside of the guitar. that guitar string is not going to move at all. you can trim the pins for better fit, but they are there only for looks. I can't remember where I learned this quick fix.
I had an acoustic for 6 years and never really played it at all so I decided to set it up and deep clean it and I kept having this problem...I wish I seen this video 20mins ago...because I ended up just holding the pins down while re-tuning. So I couldn't really use any string locking method I use on my electrics because I only have 2 hands lmao. Atleast I know next time.

Uh same story here. 64 and forgot that. I thought I needed a new bridge. Lol
🙂
I never had this issue but I put some martin strings on a fender and the first 3 strings kept popping out. I bent them all and had no issues. Thanks!
Long time player and I've just discovered this great tip😊. Thank you!

Maybe the ball end of the strings are not touching the bridge plate which is causing knocking sound or vibration.
Thanks a lot it always happen to me especially when my e-string has been broken and replace it with a new one🥰.
Welcome!

So do I take off the top of the guitar to make sure that the ball is secure with the pin and then use glue to put the top back on
Easier to just drill a hole in the back.

Why do you need to remove the bridge? If your problem is just stuck bridge pin, then you can push it out from the inside.
@@Edwin-E Ok thanks for the sensible thing to do.
Good luck! Cheers.
For the pin whole being bigger how do I fix that problem?
There are bigger size bridge pins as well.
Thank you so much

Sir my Guitar brige hook break when my string popped out plzz help me you know what I mean

Brilliant
Thanks
You would be a superb teacher.

Sir my string is just not going in the holes what do i do??(holes are quite small and the string's little round is big)

Do bridge pins have differente sizes
Yes, they do. Various diameters and angles. Guitars have different hole sizes as well.

nice one
Thanks
Mines is still popping out for some reason and it’s frustrating
I am guessing the holes of the bridge plate under the bridge are worn out and much grew bigger.
What can i do
Nice! Pinoy ka sir?
Yes. Salamat.
I hope that bridge is not from the Guild D4, I love that guitar..hehe
🙂 nope. Taken from old broken guitar.
Thank you, very useful.
