Great masterclass style video! Given that Stella was originally an instrumental composition played by an orchestra I think the 8 string is a perfect choice for it. Really lends itself to this tune and I love the very modern sounding voicings you get out of it! If you're so inclined I'd love to see a video about the interval playing or how Van Eps approached the harmonic minor or melodic minor scales, he has some harmonizations of them in his first book but I never quite understood the logic behind them. Thanks!
Very nicely done, by one of the best explorers of jazz music!
Thanks, Jeff!!
Wow ! Another level, maybe another planet!!
@@barrycooper1631 Thanks so much, Barry!
Beautiful Fred!

Thanks! I might just do that.
Great stuff, Fred! I finally had a chance to check out the video. I've already stolen a couple of your ideas.

@@fredfried8 Would love that, I'm in my last year of teaching and time is going to be wide open but would hang and play with you anytime.
@@andyguitar We'll make it happen. Best to Debra!
Beautiful ideas and well -delivered Fred. You have such a nice Bill Evans-style on guitar!
As a Steve Herberman fan I really appreciate that! Thanks, Steve!
@@fredfried8 I've been a Fred Fried since the early 1990's when I first learned about you!
Impossible! I was only about 12 years old then! 🙂 Thanks, Steve!
