Btw, it is the birth place and childhood home of a much liked German (actually East Frisian) comedian, singer, painter whose name is Otto Waalkes. In the course of his carreer he left our little Emden ages ago, but still stayed faithfully connected to his early nest. So he sponsors for instance holidays for not so rich children. And in this district here he donated an entire place for the inhabitants to meet, to spend time and have fun. This place he "furnished" with extremely cute 2 big bronce elephants, which resemble developed by him cartoon characters. He calls them Ottifants.
