I think at this point people just want to know if it truly feels like Star Wars. I bet you there’s a lot of people that didn’t watch the show, but are willing to watch the live action just to see if it’s a fossil of Star Wars.
It will never feel like star wars again. It's like WWE
Rebels felt like Star Wars so cautiously optimistic
@@EssV_ it does feel pretty cartoonish now.
@@aaronsmithjr.5505I feel like rebels did such a great job for capturing the family aspect of Star Wars. People gave that show shit went it came out because it was aimed towards more kid stuff. Between a show that relies too heavily on what came before and a show that ignores what came before, I’ll take the first one
Edit: for the lobotomites among you, let me clarify: I know something in between is better than either. I’m presenting a hypothetical to make a point. Not actually asking for that.
Totally, it’s all about continuity and references rather than ignorance

How is The Clone Wars show nostalgic?@@RogueGravitas
Absolutelly no one considers Clone Wars the true core Star Wars. Everybody who loves the show will also tell you exactly what they think it has done right and wrong. People who havent seen or dont like Clone Wars or Rebels are simply not the target audience for Ahsoka. @@RogueGravitas
This is the most Star Warsy looking Star Wars world that I've seen in ages. As a kid who was blown away by that in the original release of EP 4 in 77, that means a lot to me as far as the quality of the franchise. It's as big a part of it as the story. This is the way the world looks where the stories happen.
Andor was awesome. My guess is this will be as good if not better. I love Ashoka.
@@jimlittle5769 Andor wasn't stupid like other recent Star Wars stuff, but to me it could have existed in almost any universe, even Black Mirror. It didn't grab me as being about "Star Wars," or at least anything I've cared about in the franchise (basically "Empire: Lower Decks.") Having experience with the US prison system, the "brutality" many viewers felt during that sequence didn't really resonate with me and actually have me the warm and fuzzies (all you can eat food that tastes good in squeaky clean arrangements with only an electrified floor with no armed droids for security? Where do you sign up?) And then in the final sequence I didn't think the Empire was brutal enough in those circumstances. It was just okay IMO. Andor himself always felt like he was along for the ride and we already know he's dead. But all that aside, I won't knock its quality compared to other series. Here's hoping they finally get it right with Ahsoka.
@@jimlittle5769Ashoka won't come close imo. It's based in the Mando universe and as of late that hasn't been a good thing.
@@burna2650 Forgive me, but I'm not sure I understand. The Ashoka character has been around way longer than Mando and I believe all of Rebels series was too. Also Filoni and Lucas created Ashoka, while Favreau was the guiding force behind Mando. Just cause Ashoka showed up in Mando and Boba Fett for a bit, doesn't mean much in regards to this show. Ashoka is Filoni's. We will see though.
@@jimlittle5769 it's the style. Mando season 3 had its moments and overall the character got screwed. Boba was a travesty. I like Ashoka but at this point she's overused but not ruined so she is the last line. Filoni gave us CW but most attempts to translate those characters to live action has failed short imo. Cade Bane especially. Bokatan was alright until she became the main protagonist in Mando, when she's just as slimey as Vizla. This looks like another show with no real danger, about to retcon a bunch of stuff. My money is on the dark side chick coming to the light side when it's all done. Just another Disney Princess added to the overly crowded group as is. And the Rebels nostalgia is just that, just enough to get you in the door. Since Thrawn is a male though they probably won't drop the ball on making him disgusting. But I guarantee he will pale in comparison to the antagonists in Andor.
Andor has set my expectations for future Star Wars shows very high. I hope this is even close to being as good.
It's not gonna be on the same level as its shorter
Same!
Which (since ahsoka is one of my favorite characters) is why I haven't watched andor before ahsoka so my expectations are still quite low
If it's between Mando and Andor quality it's going to be good enough for me.
Andor was so great man 3 of the top 5 Star Wars monologues were in andor
i havent seen Ahsoka - I’m just happy to see a dark sider who *isn’t* a sith
edit: Fine, let be mote explicit in my meaning. I am glad to see a Dark Side Force Wielder with no connection to the Sith Order while being a genuine Dark Sider. I know Kylo is not a Sith Lord, but he’s doing his damndest to imitate them while being trained by the Last Sith’s proxy. Inquisitors are Sith, they’re just classical Sith Warriors and not Banite Sith and Palp refuses to give them real titles. Krell explicitly wanted to join Dooku, and Baris arguably never went dark. Nightsisters and all Dathomiri Witches are on their own plane doing their own shit independant of light and dark (Green torture Ichor? Light Side technique used by Talzin. Song of Storms, which shoots lightning bolts and disintergrates people? Dark side technique used by Tenneniel Djo.)
So let me fucking rephrase this: Im glad to see a live action dark sider who is just doing his own thing without any connection to the Sith

Story and the plot is the most important to me. If those suck, it doesn't mean much even if they get characters right.
That's the main reason i stopped watching Kenobi.
THIS, I'm sorry they fucked up Kenobi so bad despite Ewan McGregor being so good. Plot and story is definitely more important but a show needs to nail all 3 to be great and we rarely see that in Star Wars now a days.

If it didn't exist, if they said it's non-canon or something, I'd actually feel quite excited.
@@wampyrelli Almost, it's the only show i didn't like. I liked Mando, The Book of Boba Fett so much.
I’ve been saying for some time that this show’s biggest issue is going to be getting casual fans to care enough to get invested. I’m not sure the trailers have helped. They definitely seem like they’re appealing to the fans that already love the characters. Which isn’t a bad thing, but for the amount they spend on these projects, it’s going to need to appeal to broader audiences to be ‘successful’.
Mate, there were decades between the original 1960s BATMAN T.V show, and the very first BATMAN movies.
Yes and no. Normies will watch something if nerds like it, usually. Shows really need to cater to those who follow it first, then normies second. That's been the problem with these shows, they cater to people who have no vested interest
Not really sure what you mean, just because the trailers are showing established characters, doesn't mean it's only aimed at people who know them. What's the difference between not knowing a character and the characters first time on screen? If the show introduces them to the audience, there's literally 0 difference
@@frenzalrhomb6919 I wonder if the decades of comics might have had something to do with the success of that first Batman movie…
@@esteban20969564 Right, but how many people are going to invest a bunch of time in animated shows they haven’t yet been interested enough in to watch in order to watch this show about these characters they don’t really know or care about
I've seen the first couple of episodes. The visual effects look great, especially on the big screen (I saw it at the El Capitan where Disney premieres their feature films).
The pacing and dialogue were quite slow, and the fast action sequences only highlighted even more.
I interviewed the cast at Celebration and Rosario definitely did intensive research based on the prior series, and obviously, her physical training is impressive. Her character is almost zen-like (all three female leads aren't super emotive) and it would be nice to get a little contrast.
The most interesting character to me was actually Baylan (RIP Ray, who was lovely in real-life) who has this regal, almost quiet rage versus his apprentice.
I’m very relieved. I was honestly bracing myself for the show to disappoint me, and I’d be left wishing for much more as i was with Kenobi. Thanks for helping get me excited again!
Yeah I trust this guy a lot with his opinion on Star Wars
You had me in the first half not gonna lie
Kenobi is so overrated imo
Kenobi is literally garbage
@@GreatPuma13trust him??? I don’t want to accuse anyone but why???
The sensible thing for Disney to do would be a catch up video on UA-cam of all those on this series, and how they fit together. A three minute rundown of who Ahsoka is , and then a five minute run down on a separate video of how all the characters fit together because I know loads of people who liked Ahsoka on the Mandelorian, but had no idea who she is. They need to know the key points for the animated shows about her, and how she fits with the Ghost crew. You need to do that exposition or people will be left confused. Disney need to treat everyone as if they don’t know anything about this story or these characters or they will leave people behind.
Disney doesn't care. They just want to virtue signaling. Did you see the actresses only talking about how great they are? They know nothing about Star Wars.
@@HiddenHandMediawow, you’ve really created quite a narrative there… who crapped in your cornflakes?
Like Marvel Legends?
Bruh, it’s on you to watch all the shows and movies, leading up to this. There’s no excuse especially if you have a Disney + membership. They literally have everything Star Wars related in timeline order and at your disposal. Quite frankly, they really don’t need to give us a recap. You should know who she is before watching this, if you don’t, watch The Clone Wars and Rebels, otherwise prepare to be utterly confused and therefore frustrated. It’s fans like you who will bitch and moan that they should appeal to the fans and not the general public, and then when they finally do, you nitpick.
@davidlucas4136 I mean it's a decent idea? Literally costs Disney a couple hundred bucks and it might make more people watch and enjoy it ?
What's the point of gatekeeping like this?
The season probably has to build to the overall movie too. I'm guessing Thrawn will be a background character, with maybe a reveal at the end. The movie will be either his takedown, or his master plan coming out. I really wish that the movie will be IW style, and more about the villain's story and victory, but then again, I'm not confident that the writers are that clever.
You'll be waiting for a long time for that movie what with the strikes delaying things.
It's put all the shows back, which will put the movie back.
Remember this is Disney.
Thrawn will be a weak weasel, with a strong, smart, female bodyguard, who does all the work for him, and makes his plans work out, when they would not have done so on their own. She will realize this, or he will betray her, and she will help kill him in the end, while Ahsoka becomes her friend and forgives her for all the evil she did.
Why they don't just stick to the books, and give the fans a good story, is super frustrating.
"Heir To The Empire" A Star Wars Story with Luke as the main character fighting alongside Mando and Ashoka, fire
This too I fear, or that it’s not actually Thrawn but Flim
@@ZimCrusherDidn't KK say the books don't exist?
I just want a solid story. Don’t really too heavily on cameos or hidden Easter eggs. I’m excited to know what the Ghost crew and Fulcrum have been up to. The show already has my attention. Let’s hope it keeps it.
Fulcrum is anyone in deep cover spying for the rebels/ rebellion. Any and all have the name Fulcrum that are in deep cover and only when in deep cover. That call sign should have been changed. They had different characters in Rebels that used Fulcrum that were not Ashoka
I never watched Clone wars or Rebels so no nostalgia or Easter eggs can save it for me and I thought the first two eps were really good and I’m exited if it carries on being as good
I still think this series could be excellent as long as the return of Thrawn has been handled with care. I'm sure Ashoka and other characters will be good to watch, however, I am assuming Disney is going to tell a similar story to the Legends story, where the Grand Admiral emerges with a large imperial force to attack the New Republic head-on. From an imperial point of view, anything less than that would be disappointing to me.
They kinda ruined Thrawn's character prematurely by having the New Republic demilitarize as soon as possible. For one to demilitarize forces, this means there has to be absolute certainty no large threats can emerge. If Thrawn emerges with a competent imperial force and deals damage appropriate to his character (i.e. a lot of damage to the Republic), this means the New Republic will have such PTSD from that event that they would never accept a bill to demilitarize. The fact that they are demilitarized in the Sequeals means that no great threats emerged during the 30 years between ROTJ and TFA, which automatically means Thrawn didn't do much damage, which automatically means they ruined Thrawn's strategic brilliance.
Or...
The second possibility is that the writer(s) just take people for fools and the logic "ah, the enemy surprised us when we were unarmed, we magically survived somehow..hm..lets disarm again" seems legit to them.
@@akotarakz De militarizign means that thrawn has a chance since its now an even fight. the end of war rebel fleet legit couldnt lose
@@akotarakzI mean…as senseless as it sounds, that’s literally been NATO’s mindset towards Russia in the last 30 years, especially Western Europe. They were all caught blindsided by the Soviet pivot - they were simply lucky that most of Western Europe was occupied by the US. Yet the lesson of how armed presence deters invasion was forgotten within a generation - just look at Ukraine.
It was also the mindset of the Truman administration post-WWII - despite the conflict demonstrating how vital a strong navy was to the US, Truman cut the USN from over 3200 to something like 300 ships postwar. Fortunately most were mothballed so they could be reactivated for Korea, but that’s only because Congress intervened.
Corruption of decision-making by shortsightedness and/or special interests is a very real phenomenon. If the writers do it correctly, then I’d have no problems believing the New Republic was that incompetent.
@@GintaPPE1000 It isn't quite the same, though. Post WW2 was the Cold War where both factions had significant forces and military projects. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the militaries (especially in Europe) started decreasing in size. This tendency remained unchainged until Russia attacked Ukraine, which isn't part of NATO or the EU, by the way. Only now the countries started focusing on their militaries again.
A SW analogy for that would be an imperial remnant faction attacking a sovereign system that has borders with the New Republic. And then the NR sending aid to this system and offering them to join the Republic if they manage to defeat the invading imperial forces.
Thrawn attacking the New Republic will be the equivalent of Russia attacking a NATO country in Europe. If today Russia attacks NATO and in the end NATO manage to defeat them, I bet that it would take more than 30 years for NATO countries to even start thinking about reducing their armies again, especially if they have no information what happens in the "unknown" lands deep in Northern Russia (or in SW terms, the Unknown Regions).

Hit the nail on the head with the “clunky” reminder “this is a tv show”. The tone and style of these Disney+ entries has been on par with really high production value TV movies. The directing and cinematography are not inspired and the dialogue is trying to be as clear and easily understandable as possible.
It’s not gonna be mindblowing stuff but as Filoni’s live action debut of Rebels, those fans will be appeased. For a wider general audience it’ll probably fair as well as Mando/BoBF and Kenobi.
Mando fared incredibly well in comparison to bobf and kenobi so not sure wt comparison your trying to make there
im bummed that they replaced Luke with Ahsoka because the thrawn trilogy is a great series that follows Luke (and the gang at times) along his journey of discovery and his realization that despite the fact that he's a Jedi Master that he still has much to learn, with the series ending with Luke starting the new Jedi Order. I understand they had to replace Luke because 1. Mark Hamil is old and 2. they have to "respect" the filth that Kathleen Kennedy made because Luke's inclusion in this series could potentially off-set KK's garbage trilogy and even get normie fans to start questioning the sequel trilogy's legitimacy in the cannon, of which is has none. So long as they respect the source material (and there's a 60% chance they won't) then the show should be at the very least, enjoyable from a certain angle

Nice review dude. Makes me wanna catch up with the animated shows
I believe it’ll be a good show. I do believe however that it has a major thing going against it that none of the other shows have had thus far, one thing that I believe may be a big failing, and it’s that it is essentially a continuation of an animated series.
By that, I mean that there are a good chunk of the fanbase that just ignore animation or even refuse to watch it. I fear this will be the case as older folks come to watch it and get confused because they don’t know any context on what’s happening.
This is the problem with Marvel and Star wars - but tbf it's not really their fault. They've made so many properties, it is impossible for a causal fan to catch up. And Dave Filoni's job is to create something that appeals to the fans and to the casual fans as well. The fans want references, callbacks and old characters, while the casual fans need to be introduced properly, with introductions to so many characters. It's not surprising Filoni limited the introduction to casual fans, since his story needs all these animated characters and their histories.
Well it's off to a flying start. Pure girl boss stuff. Short lightsabers that look terrible and apparently are barely dangerous as a stab to the liver is a 10 minute fix. Another nonsense story about a secret map that is needed. Droids that self destruct with warnings and time limits which would ultimately destroy the special map they need so bad. God awful music that has no place in star wars. I've watched the first two episodes and I can't see how it can get any better. Another load of tripe from Disney designed to take money from loyal fans.

I have also seen the first two episodes and you are right, you need to care about this characters, but overall, it's AMAZING
Honestly, I don't care for the enjoyment of people going to Ahsoka without having watched Rebels. It's been out about 5 years at this point, and anyone who might have had any interest in watching it could and should already have done so, whether it's out of genuine interest or just in preparation for Ahsoka (I personally binged it all during lockdown)
While it's great that Rebels as a show has been getting a lot more deserved attention lately (probably due to Ahsoka), there are still the same old people who refuse to watch Rebels (and by extension The Clone Wars as well) on the basis of it being a show for kids. Their opinion also won't be swayed by others who have once refused to watch it but also have since opened up to it and enjoyed it. (One of my lecturers is an OT/prequel fan but he also refuses to watch any of the animated series because he thinks they're for children)
If these "mature" people enter Ahsoka knowing none of the backstory set up in Rebels but feel confused and want more explanation, they have no one else to blame but themselves.
The thing is there's a large subsection of society that will not watch animation under any circumstances like your lecturer. And you can say that's their problem and maybe your right but that doesn't change the fact those people exist in very large quantities.
I think they did a pretty good job setting up the extended Star Wars Universe in the recent series.
If anyone is drawn in by Ashoka they will probably start watching the other series too but honestly I expect 90% of the audience has been watching for a few years already and they will enjoy the reverences and not too much of a reintroduction.
it felt like a fan made film i wish they just kept it in animation seeing mortis gods purgil and world between worlds in animation it just all looks and feels star wars
Im a fan of the Clone Wars. Didn't really watch Rebels, just a few episodes here and there, but it seemed like it was pretty good. I'm glad they are doing like a re-cap so I don't have to watch all of Rebels in order to not be confused
I adore Star Wars Rebels. I think it's hugely underrated. They actress chosen for Sabine looks perfect.
Sabine looks good, honestly ish someone more attractive was cast for hera, she's sooo bad in rebels. Strangely I could have see Rosario being a Great Hera
They got all the characters perfect
@@imperialsaboteur8391 not so much the head tentacles... they all look like inorganic props without weight or muscles in them and flop around all the time when their heads are slightly moving.
@@MrSheduur yeah, you're right. I noticed that as well. I meant as far as their faces go.
General Syndulla in my mind is just a lot more sincere than the ashoka version. Also I believe that she wouldn't just barge into a private company and be like "nothing is classified for me!" "I'm a general!"
My expectations are low for one reason alone;
No real human can fight like animated Ahsoka. The actress looks spot on and sounds great. But from what I have seen (Mando included), she just cant quite pull of the inhuman acrobatic speed and feeling of almost weightlessness that the animated Ahsoka had. I dont think any human could, except maybe an olympic level gymnist.
To say I’m extremely excited but also nervous is an understatement. I was beyond excited for season 3 of mando and obi wan. And the trailers well the trailers were amazing but man were those shows bad. Here’s hoping this is more like andor and not more like Disney plus Star Wars
I’m not hearing anything which makes me apprehensive. I loved rebels so I have some hope here for this show. Hopefully the rest of the season is as good as you made it out to be.
i would say bad batch has an overarching arch that has been very good as well
New Republic Troopers be thrown around like ragdols.
Mess up Thrawn and I'm done...
First two episodes were just......fun. Simply fun. Great escapism.
Yeah, real escapism. Having our 2023 politics in a star wars TV show🥴
@@HunterMagunter what are you talking about?
@@jimjam_games5783 the entire show is about women, nobody wants to watch women pretend to be men
I wrote to my friend after I had watched the first episode: Watching this I suddenly got the sense that the only thing that could save the Star Wars (and The Lord of the Rings) series (for me at least) is more mystery, surrealism and mythology similar to that in Dark, Twin Peaks, 1899 and Lost - I sincerely recommend you all to watch and discover especially the first two 🔥♾️🏆
Interesting.. I’ve seen other reviews that felt they spent too much time trying to help people that haven’t seen Rebels. If it’s somewhere in between, I think that’s perfect
This is where the fun begins.
Well, hello there!
Seen the 6 episodes, really enjoyed them and will no doubt enjoy the last 2 when they air, ahsoka is one of the best characters
Oh yeah, it really screams best character when ahsoka says a corny ass one liner every single time anybody says anything. “This is gonna slow us down” “not if we let it” dumbest shit I ever heard
I really enjoyed the first two episodes. My only suggestions were I would have preferred a traditional cinematic introductory crawl and the musical score in the opening scenes could have been more dramatic. Those minor gripes aside, I am very excited to continue watching the series.
I'll watch it when I get around to it. Nothing on Disney+ is "must see" anymore for me.
LucasFilm and Star Wars: 1977 - 2012
RIP
I understand the arguments for them to appeal to a broader audience, and I do want all walks of people to be able to enjoy this, but at the same time I think dedicated fans deserve to have something that’s made for them and the time they’ve spent enjoying Star Wars. Every single show or movie doesn’t need to treat it’s viewers like they’re brand new to the franchise.
Without giving anything away, its essentially a live action continuation of Rebels. I think, story-wise, it's not necessary to have seen Rebels but it will certainly enhance your experience if you have. If you're not already familiar with the characters I can see how it could be hard to get invested in them right away. My biggest critique of the first two episodes is that once again, we get a nerfed lightsaber that doesn't kill because of plot armor. It was expected, but this is starting to become a trend... aside from that I really enjoyed it and they did an amazing job bringing the characters and locations from Rebels to life. If youve been putting off watching the cartoon because it's a "silly show for kids" I highly recommend that you get over yourself and give it a watch. Yes, there are some kid oriented elements in there, but both Clone Wars and Rebels managed to create some very interesting and at times mature storytelling as well. Having watched these characters go through their development in the cartoons will really enhance what you are seeing in this show.
SAME AS IT EVER WAS, SEEN ONE SEEN THEM ALL.
Love Ahsoka!!!!
All I care is Thrawns campaign because I'm a Thrawn trilogy legend fan with his tactical thinking and plays.
If disney would allow more 1:1 animation transitions into live action sets then, to me, it holds more than if they recreated set pieces by scratch and have it mess up. Examples: the very first look at live action Grand Inquistor, Bane’s look, yes he was pushing nearly a hundred but his look could’ve been a bit more closer to his animated self, whatever they were doing/not doing in Kenobi. Good examples are in Andor with the city of Coruscant, debut of live action Zeb even if it was just a cameo, the return of other parts of Coruscant in Mando season 3, Mandalore after the glassing, Bo Katan, the list goes.
As someone who liked some aspects of rebels and thought other parts were pretty stupid the only thing I'm hoping this show does is get thrawn right, he was the best part of rebels and I'm really hoping they don't fuck him up
same, there's nothing worse that disney screwing up a beloved character
It's really hard to establish a bond between characters and the reader/watcher without an info dump or extensive flashbacks. Ahsoka especially is a character that was built up over about 100 episodes between Clone Wars, Rebels, Tales of the Jedi and you can even say The Mandalorian. Those who have watched all of the content with Ahsoka have been with her through her journey. The Ghost crew is not as extensive but they're a family that has gone through SO much in just four seasons. We have watched these characters grow up physically, mentally and emotionally.
I imagine the summary is just enough so people unfamiliar with these journeys know just enough to make sense of the characters' decisions though because they aren't as emotionally invested as those who have spend so much time with those characters the things that happen to these characters doesn't pull on their heart as much. It's just like seeing a person on the news going through a disaster for example. To everyone else, it's emotional but because of that missing bond it doesn't hit nearly as hard as someone who has physically spent time with that person and has a bond through that time together. They might be fiction characters but a well written character will feel real to those who 'journey' with them through their story.
I'm the opposite. I love seasons that feel like long-form films. Stranger Things is an excellent example of this, and you already mentioned Andor.
I always found myself frustrated with filler episodes. I swear The Mandalorian feels like it was initially designed to be a film and had to be altered to fit a series. That's why you have what I call the quest syndrome sequences where a character needs something from another character, and like a video game, you have to go on a mission to find a golden easter egg so the old fart will tell you where the train station is. Hate it. Feels forced and unnatural.
I've watched all of season 1 and half of season 2 of rebels. I want to watch the rest but can't get that time. I hope I will understand this show because I am very hype for it
Here's a list of essential rebels episodes: the call (season 2 ep15), the twilight apprentice part 1 and 2 (season 2 finale), steps in shadow part 1 and 2 (season 3 ep1/2) zero hour part 1 and 2 (season 3 finale), the occupation (season 4 ep 5), flight of the defender (season 4 ep6), rebel assault (ep9), Jedi night (ep10) + ep11,12,13,14,15. There may be some missing info, but these follow a basic story.
if this is too much just watch twilight apprentice part1 and 2 (season 2 finale), and season 4 ep9,10,11,12,13,14,15
I was at the New York showing and can say that compared to previous Star Wars projects, Ahsoka actually feels good. Still need to see how the story will unfold in the next few episodes and I absolutely loved getting to see Rebels characters return, but its too early to tell if it'll be as good as Andor. Definitely a step-up from Kenobi in terms of quality.
Do you think, based on what's there now, it is still worth the watch for someone who knows the characters but hasn't watched Clone Wars or Rebels?
yeah
@@EckhartsLadder”yeah”
The most sigma answer one could give
I only watched parts of Rebels.
@@EckhartsLadder Based response!
Absolutely!!
Thanks for the review. Hope it is loyal to the spirit of Star Wars Rebels. Look forward to the first two episodes.
As someone who loved clone wars but just can't get into rebels I still have high hopes. I'm looking forward to Ahsoka's story continuing and who knows maybe it'll make me more interested in the animated series.
I think it's just because I love prequel era/prequel MCs so much that I LOVED clone wars - but somehow I have trouble getting through rebels myself, which is crazy because it's not like it's a bad show, I just don't care the same way I care about TCW (GRANTED, im only starting S3, but I had to force myself to come back to the show to finish it before Ahsoka drops)
I'm similar. I basically forced myself through s1 and mostly through s2 due to good reviews. But eventually gave up. I just couldn't get invested enough in it to not be forcing myself to watch hoping to see what others saw in it. There may be something in the Ahsoka series that makes me want to try again but as of now I'm good with the knowledge of the story and characters I got by watching the reviews.@@BreMue
@@BreMue For me, it was the opposite: I wanted to start the animated shows, so I hopped on to Clone Wars, but I just couldn't get through it. I knew it was probably better for me to finish TCW before starting Rebels, but I couldn't help myself. I hopped onto Rebels, it had me hooked and more engaged than TCW did, and I never got bored, and I finished all 4 Rebels seasons before going back to TCW. Then, for TCW, I had to force myself through and even skip episodes. I did enjoy TCW and Rebels both a lot though!
I never watched rebels or clone wars and I liked the first two episodes a lot
As someone that had given up on Star Wars ever being good BUT is now watching ANDOR for the first time and am completely blown away at how good it is, I do have some ....hope.
I am only on episode 9 of ANDOR and its not just the best Star Wars show I've seen in years its the best show I've seen. Just stunning and smart and thrilling and filled with lore and easter eggs. It, to me, is the high water mark so, if Asoka is even close to this level of story telling, then I'll watch it. But if its just another Book of Boba Fett, or Obiwon, or Mandalorian Season 3 then its gonna be a nope.
Thats awesome to hear, always great that more ppl r slowly discovering Andor becuz when it came out it absolutely tanked in viewership and fans and general audiences refused to watch it, saying that they’ve ‘had enough’ and can’t trust Disney anymore. Which is honestly a bit childish, we’re all damn sick of Disney but they could’ve at least tried it out. But seeing the overwhelming fan response, especially all those youtube video essays, its really amazing to have a genuinely brilliant piece of media to unite ppl again
andor was a huge surprise, i still remember how good the prison escape episode was😆
Same I loved Andor and I really enjoyed Ahsoka it felt like Star Wars again and I never seen any animated stuff either
@@evangingerson1271 I did not feel that Ahsoka was anywhere close to the quality of storytelling that we got in ANDOR. It was awful in my opinion but I'm glad you liked it.
Idk. I just want to see Ezra 😂
As I didn't grew up with TCW show but grew up with Rebels (being Ezra's same age during the four seasons). I want to watch Ahsoka mostly because I want to see how much my Boy has grown. I mean, I liked Ashoka a lot to in Rebels, but I just want more Ezra...
Since we were told about the Ahsoka show I said I was more interested in a show about Ezra and Thrawn after the jump more than Ahsoka and Sabine looking for him. But well, we get what we get haha.
I just hope it doesn't desappoint and that we actually see them looking for Ezra. I know Thrawne is a threat, but I just want Ezra! We didn't have any leaks related to Ezra himself. So I like to belive we didn't get any because they just kept it well hidden, not because he will barley appear in a two second scene at the end 😅
I grew up with both shows
I grew up with the Prequels, so CW 2003 was much better. EU was much better than anything Disney did.
I want to see Ezra using his lightsaber again
I'm glad it's making a good first impression, although Justin seems to like things more than the average fan
Is there anything you can tell us about the ships from a design perspective?
I got my sister and her husband to watch rebels cause I saw the trailer and was like this just looks like real life rebels. They just finished it last weekend so I’m glad to hear I didn’t waste their time haha. One thing I do hope to see is that inquisitor at the end of your video turning out to be Barisse Offee. That’s a loop from the clone wars we need to close. As far as I know, she’s still alive out there somewhere
The fact you list Chopper as a standout character is making me reach for my popcorn with delight. So happy to have our adorable little war criminal back!
Thankyou for a spoiler free review. I loved Rebels and chances are that I will love this as well but I am still worried about if the first parts are dragged down by introducing characters we already know and love or if they handle that well.
With that said was there any signs that we are getting a long intermission part/s like we did in Boba and Mando S 3 that takes away from the main story? (No spoilers, thankyou.) J.
Thrawn is close to Revan as my favorite Star Wars character. Thrawn is just awesome
The Ashoka show is a great example how the fanbase is very divided:
OG fan's wanted a show like this with LUKE SKYWALKER
Dave Filoni era fans wanted ASHOKA
Im OG fan, i want to see Luke Skywalker and his New Jedi Order just like the EU.
Disney want to replace all GL characters for Filoni and Sequels characters. Thats why SW is dead.
Im an og fan and am excited for Ahsoka. Disney already ruined Luke so what's the point of having shows based on him when he isn't the man of Lucas' vision anymore?
With the more newer Luke appearances in the shows, it just further creates a bigger disconnect between the OG Luke and Sequels Luke.
When you see him so calm and serene in the face of adversity, you cannot reconcile that Luke with the loser hermit who let's an untrained girl whack him on the head and who let his nephews nightmare make him go dark side for a moment.
And who also let said nephew massacre his newly found Jedi order.
The only really non ruined character we got that isn't dead is Ahsoka, and being a character that is pre Disney and who continues the lineage of the og Jedi master/apprentice characters, Feloni kinda only has one ace in his deck.
That is unless they completely scrap the sequels from the Canon and rewrite the entire sequel lore.
But I don't see that happening. And between me and you, I rather much see a character that actually earned her spot with the Fandom like Ahsoka, rather than the feminist, Mary Sue trophy, Rey Palpatine.
@@saberiandream316 True
@@saberiandream316 Yes, Filoni is a joke.
Honestly, I didn't think the visuals in Kenobi were as bad as people might say. Then again, they kind of took a backseat in my mind in favor of the story. Anyway, getting back on topic, your "review" has me more excited for Ahsoka than I already was!
@@adam-di7rk Respectfully, I disagree.
The visuals were bad. Compare the rendering of the digital backgrounds in Ashoka and Kenobi. The dark planet Kenobi and Vader fought on was remarkably digital looking. Then compare it to lothal in the new show. The new shoes visuals are at least two or three times better imo.
Kenobis cinematography and lightsabers were also wonky looking. The color from the sabers just washed everything out.
I really wanted Obi_Wan to be brilliant cos favourite charicture and all but including Lea was a bad move....I hope they got it right with Ahsoka.
The other galaxy gives me a "what of the yusang vong are there" mindset
At this point, I wouldn't be too surprised if we actually see the Yuuzhan Vong.
To be fair, if they assume you know about Rebels, you gotta roll with it if you’re new. Keep in mind, A New Hope literally references content that came out 20 years later. Star Wars has always been built on the concept of “just go along”.
At this point I don’t expect much anymore unfortunately. After the disappointment I felt when watching (Book of Boba, Mandalorian season 3, Obi-Wan, Clone Wars season 6-7, Star Wars 7,8,9, Solo, )… Rogue One was amazing though…. My point is. I don’t expect much anymore. Whoever is at fault for messing up what I loved.
I can forgive you not liking all these, but clone wars? Really? Last season was great
@@sails1993 to each their own. I didn’t care the last season but I don’t speak for everyone.
I thought the first two episodes are really good best Star Wars since Mandalorian season 2
Another reason why Andor was so good - you didn’t need to watch Rogue One at all to care about the main character (or read the lore to care about a side character like Mon Mothma)
I actually didn’t really like rogue one to begin with cause the characters are bland, and didn’t care for andor cause I know where cassian would end up
I never seen rebels or clone wars and I liked first two episodes I also like the side characters and Ahsoka is not amazing by any means but is just fine
I’m so stoked on this dude I love it
Think Disney should have people wait including youtubers getting special treatment from them getting episodes early and have them wait like us until the actual release date
They need the marketing, especially now with the ongoing actor's strike
But, yeah, it would be nice

Heir to the Empire deserves better than being tied to Filoni's fanfiction characters.
As long as it has some sweet sweet lightsaber action, the show will be a hit. From early reports, they succeeded.
