    At 5:10, I heard the sentence and was like, yea that’s true…WAIT A MINUTE I DIDNT HAVE TO TRANSLATE THAT I JUST THOUGHT OF IT AS I WOULD A NATIVE GERMAN! This will be so much easier being I basically can think in German now and I don’t have to translate them anymore, I just think of them as being what they are, like how lieben is a feeling, is to love is a feeling. I have a doubt : not regarding this video, but could not find any answer, :
    in the following 2 sentenses :
    Kennst du meinen elefanten ?
    kennst du meinen hund ...?
    question is : + en .... why elefant + en?
    why +en here for elefant or junge ? not for others
    maybe somebody can link me to the correct video regarding this

      Hi👋
      We didn't make a video about this topic yet. It's called "n-declination".
      This grammar only effects masculine nouns with certain endings, like: -e, -ent, -ant, -ist... Those nouns add "-(e)n" at the end when used in akk / dat / gen 🙂👍🙏

    What about entlang and wider? They also require accusative.

    • @yourgermanteacher
      @yourgermanteacher  Рік тому +1

      "entlang" doesn't necessarily require accusative case. It can require any case besides nominative 😉
      Regarding "wider" you are right, it in fact requires accusative case, but it's so rarely used nowadays that it's not worth mentioning or momorizing it in the context of acc prepositions. 😉👍🙏

    • @anapearson8928
      @anapearson8928 Рік тому

      Here in the UK there is a "trick" to learn these prepositions, you memorise the word FUDGEBOW and that gives you the first letter of the prepositions: für, um, durch, gegen, entlang, bis, ohne, wider. That's the only reason I noticed the two "missing" ones, not because I am a genius when it comes to German grammar 🤪🤣 I am only a beginner! Thanks for the explanation. 👍😊

    • @yourgermanteacher
      @yourgermanteacher  Рік тому

    • @yourgermanteacher
      @yourgermanteacher  Рік тому +1

      Hi 👋
      "über" isn't a preposition that always requires accusative case. It's a two-way preposition, as it also can take dative case. Here are two example sentences... The first one in Akk, the second in dative case: 🙂
      Ich hänge die Lampe über den Tisch.
      Die Lampe hängt über dem Tisch.

      Hi 👋
      Das ist richtig, aber "entlang" kann man auch mit "Genitiv" benutzen":
      Entlang des Flusses stehen viele Häuser.😉
      Alle Präpositionen in diesem Video benutzt man nur mit Akkusativ. Und da "entlang" keine reine Akkusativ-Präpositionen ist, wird dieses Wort im Video auch nicht erwähnt. 😉

    Im having trouble knowing what and why something is feminine or not. Like I understand if the subject matter is fem then it would be a feminine proposition. What I don't understand is why die pizza is feminine without a fem subject matter. So I would say hallo kellner, die pizza mit käse bitte but shouldn't I say hallo kellner, der pizza mit käse? Maybe I'm just being taught wrong.
