I love that through this disscution that my quote is now a highlighted comment, and thanks for giving me the correct spelling of the robot who was once a washing machine. Anyone else think that this show is more than a little weird?

I mean, yeah, where else could comics find well-muscled men and attractive women in skintight clothing with flamboyant personalities using over the top methods of fighting on each-other?
VR isn't going to replace anything. It's it's own genre and way of playing games specifically developed for it. I have great hopes for it but it's still new and expensive.
Same goes for AR (Augmented Reality). Is AR a successor to VR?
@@Isaac-gh5ku they are more like two parts of a single whole. separate uses but can work well together. AR has more practical applications though as a RL over head display. Or as part of the auto pilot feature in certain cars.
Well, yeah. Home game consoles were supposed to have killed off arcade machines, yet arcade machines, we still have decades later. I was talking to a manager of a local game shop and apparently those arcade machines are hugely profitable for the store.
It's never a case of X is going to replace Y. All it ever is, it's a marketing push to get people to buy X and ignore Y way before X is even remotely viable. After all, it's a LOT easier for someone to justify a $20, $40, even $60 purchase of a relatively mediocre experience if they have a shiny, new toy for it that they don't have anything to play on it.
I normally don't care for the story segments but DAMN, this one was actually pretty damn good. Props to Nella, she's an actor who sells this as something genuinely threatening
Not very far into this episode yet, but let me just congratulate Nella on a stellar performance. Seriously girl, you gave me chills.
By the way, Linkara, if you want a story that does virtual reality well, I recommend "Ready Player One," which addresses a number of the issues you have regarding neural interfaces while also being an 80's nostalgia bomb in its own right.
Of all Reviewerverse storylines, I Did Not expect the Dark Nella arc to become connected to the AT4W mythos. I mean, they all take place in Earth-4W, so everything is possible.
One day we might even get an explanation to Phelous's immortality that isn't me overthinking.

Simple: Phelous is the most meta reviewer, like Deadpool. So, every time he dies a new Phelous appears to take his place because that's the will of his real-life counterpart, Phelan, who controls his existence.

Also was wondering why you would have your living room as some place else ( possibly limiting you when filming some what, or forsaking some continuity) though i was trying to remember what ur new living room looked like and thought these two did look somewhat similar ( probably just because of the shelves)

Power Rangers movie, Clone Saga is back, Sinestro is trying to be Parallax, the Hey Arnold movie, Legends of the Hidden Temple is getting a TV movie next month, Nick is looking into reboots after the ROUSING success of PPG 2016, Yu-Gi-Oh! has been shilling Yugi and Kaiba decks all year, Pokemon was introduced to the mobile crowd, Digimon Adventure is being revisited in movie form, and Dragonball is back on television (in Japan at least).

Seriously What is going on with Marvel in their comics department this year? Civil War II AKA: Let's make this event comic even though we finished Secret Wars 2015 a few months ago because we need to tie in to Captain America 3, Making Cap a Hydra Agent (Keep in mind that issue released only weeks after Captain America Civil War), the sequel to the clone saga. Is marvel on the same drugs that DC was on when they made the new 52?
As for this story. Man this was a boring one, and downright ridiculous. Merging Virtual Reality and the real world together, HOW DOES THAT WORK!?
As for next week well I think I may say this. Bustin makes me feel good.

Oh man was I laughing like crazy when I read this story for my CLONE SAGA review series! The idea of a hologram being able to physically destroy a city is just so ludicrously bad it's downright hilarious?

I think it's safe to say the writers were probably taking all the drunks while writing this and other Clone saga stories.
or they were probably basically writing this story to say fuck you to the marketing team for making us due this crap that's my best guess which i don't blame writers for doing this to the scarlet spider name because the marketing team was forcing to due this crap anyways
Tevya Smolka Actually the writers of the Saga were pretty talented guys, but they were put under heavy pressure from the marketing department and Marvel's upcoming bankruptcy. Also remember that these SCARLET SPIDER books were unplanned and the writers didn't want to do them in the first place. It perfectly explains their haphazard quality...

Eh, about using VR for movies, as an avid film buff who studied film in college, I'm personally not so sure about that one. In movies, the filmmakers usually carefully think about and decide what they show you, how much of it they show you, and what they don't show you. Sometimes they purposely leave things offscreen and out of the audience's view for a particular reason or to achieve a certain effect (like at the end of Se7en with the box for example, where not showing the contents onscreen is very effective, as your imagination fills it in for you). Also with angles, they might choose to compose a shot a certain way or film it from a certain angle for a reason, like showing a villain from a low angle to make them look bigger and more menacing. We would probably have to come up with a whole new film language and filmmaking techniques for making films in VR, but hey you never know, maybe people will eventually come up with some cool ideas for that.
Sakura4anime25 What did you think about a film called hardcore Henry. It was a film that was shot in first person.
I haven't seen it yet (saw the trailers though) and I definitely see how that maybe could be compared to seeing a film in VR, but even the people who made that movie still chose what to show you/not show you, like what Henry was looking at and what direction he was looking in at that time and whatnot.

Also raises some other questions. Would they make use of head tracking and hide plot points or even scenes that you would have to look around to even view?
Would be kinda horrible if the did it though. People are complaining about ticket prices only being to expensive already...As well with movies telling to go see this movie in 3D when its not shot in 3D and would offer no benefit.
yeah, certainly all valid points, they would definitely have to carefully consider how they were going to do it if they were to make VR movies.

I'm new to Linkara videos. I'm not exactly watching them in order. Just picking titles that interest me. Fun to be jumping around in time. Kind of like being in a TARDIS or something.
I like your observation that nostalgia even brings back the crappy parts. I was at my Mom's house (would have been around 2000) and a TV channel at her house was showing the movie "Grease". Mom was a teenager in the 1950's. She said "That movie. All that stuff was bad enough the first time around. Why bring it back?????"
The basic idea of The Great Games was that group of rich assholes hired supervillains to fight and unmask each other.
It's been quite the eight years. :) I remember first watching this show in college during my breaks. I learned so much about comics.

Let me start out by saying Nella is a great actress and this made me realize how I miss the old days of Channel Awesome.
Anyway I can't believe it's been eight years. I've sat through the good times, the bad times, the laughs, the questionable moments and never regret any of it. Since I've been watching you, I feel I've grown as a comic book writer and have even had my first comic book published since this series began. You've taught me a lot about the art of comic book writing and have even inspired me to pass on your wisdom to others. The comic company where I'm currently employed is planning on starting classes on creating comics, covering all aspects from writing to art, to the more mundane stuff like business and publishing. On more than one occasion I've passed around your reviews to my coworkers. I'm not sure if they've actually watched anything or got the message on their questionable portrayal of sensitive political issues, I am still applying what I've learned from these videos to my work and utilizing your various observations over the years to help inspire these courses. If I ever get the opportunity to write a comic again at the company I currently push paper for (the previous company folded due to management issues), I will be sure to keep you in mind and find a way to thank you personally for helping me to guide me through this strange adventure in comic book writing.

Swift Swalow yep also the real clone saga by tom defaco and Ron Frenz the creators of the excellent spider-girl aka mayday parker series wrote that amazing retelling and i really loved it mostly because unlike the 90's clone saga which was stretched way too long the real clone saga tells the story the way it was meant to be told and has a way better ending then the original clone saga ever did in my opinion

From what I've heard, The Clone Saga could've been a pretty decent event if Sales and Marketing hadn't got in the way. Nothing bugs me more than non-creative people get in the way of creative people trying to do their medium justice. Also, Nella got tickets to Hamilton, I thought tickets to that show were nearly impossible to get.
As long as this "Clone Conspiracy" thing doesn't try to bring back Judas Traveler and Scrier they can do whatever they want as fares I'm concerned.

Wow, way to save the Dark Nella saga there guys. Nella is a great actress. That buildup for the Clone Saga Joke just blew my mind. Only good point of this comic: Orlando showing visible shock that Sho wanted a showdown at the Childrens Zoo. I always like it when bit players show morality.
Side note: Did you know that Nappa actually suggested keeping humans around to breed a new Saiyan race, and shows visible shock and remorse that Vegeta killed a Saibaman? If Dragonball were in a different genre Nappa would have been the surviving Saiyan.

Not gonna lie this review was worth the wait! :3 I always love seeing the messed up stories of the Clone Saga. Though I have to admit, I'm gonna miss the Scarlet Spider identity. I might be in the minority, but I always liked the look of the Scarlet Spider and I think it could have worked if they kept rolling with it. Oh well, it is what it is. Great review, Linkara! And Happy 8th Anniversary! Here's to another eight years! :D

I understand all the hate the clone saga, I guess. I honestly do but I've always liked it, it's my go to guilty pleasures spider-man stories. it brought us Ben Reilly who I love Ben Reilly A lot. Like when I started reading Spider-man as a kid Ben was spider-man, also love his scarlet spider and spider-man costumes.
