I made one today! Easiest zipper installation ever! Thank you so much. I appreciate your tutorials. Made your fabric gift box last week. So happy to have found your channel. Thanks again.
I just made my first one and plan to make more for my great grandchildren. My only mistake was using the same fabric for the lining. lol You're right they are very cute and easy. Thank you. I also have made several totes, using your tutorial. All turned out great! Oh I forgot. I've also used your pattern for a sunglass case. Terrific!
Virginia you are a wonderful teacher, I love your tutorials and have bought your patterns as they are always so clear and easy to follow. Thank you for teaching me to sew, hugs and loves xxxxxxxxx Dorothy (U.K.) 😘🙋🏻❤️
I love these! Big chunky sunglasses are fun to wear but finding cases for them that are big enough is difficult; these pouches are perfect for protecting them. Also, my 4 year old grandson likes to carry a plastic cup full of tiny toys so I think I'll make one for him in some fun novelty fabrics. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Virginia, I enjoyed this video as always! I have your book & several patterns. I have made quite a few of your projects for gifts. I set up an assembly line and do a bunch as I have time. You are an excellent teacher and you have great ideas! I always look forward to a new post from you! 😉👍🏼God Bless!
These are so cute! I will be making my nieces and nephew one of these. The only thing I will do differently is top stitch the fabrics at the zipper to keep the lining fabric inside the pouch and not get caught in the zipper. I do this step after all fabric is sewn to the zipper. Thanks for sharing! Happy Week 🌸🦋🌸
Virginia Lindsay It is really easy. Once you have sewn the outer and lining fabric to the zipper, turn over to where the outer fabric is on top. Make sure you iron before sewing the top stitch. After ironed, line up your pressure foot (either foot will work) with the edge touching the teeth. Sew a line of top stitching on the outer fabric all the way down the fabric. You can sew a double line for added interest. This stitch line will hold all the fabric together and not get caught in the zipper. Plus, it helps keep the lining inside the bag. Give it a try on your next pouch and see what you think. Hope this makes sense. Happy Sewing! 🌸🌼
I also topstitch, but I sew my outer fabric and lining to each side of the zipper at the same time. I am genuinely curious about why you ( Virginia ) are doing it in two seperate steps? I adore lined zipper pouches and use them for so many different things!!
That's fantastic! I think I will make a few of those!! It would be better to send him to school with his colored pencils in this little bag than the cardboard box that falls apart :-)
Thanks. That's a simple, easy to follow tutorial. I'm just wondering if there is a specific reason why you sewed the lining to the zipper separately instead of at the same time as the outer fabric? I have made a lot of lined zipper pouches and layer it all together, sewing the lining and outer layer to each side of the zipper at the same time. I am yet to use stabiliser inside them though. Is that why you do it separately? Thanks :)
Oh wow, I love this! Going to make some for my kids for sure (and me!) One question though, do you have problems with the little fabric tab fraying? Great tutorial!
I wish you had of used a lining fabric that had a right and wrong side. I made my first one and got the lining fabric wrong side out. Other than that is was fine.
Excellent tutorial!! I enjoy all your videos. You are one of the best out there. All my grandkids will want one. 😄
Thank you Virginia, great tip with the zipper on the top, great glasses pouch too.
Thank you for the beautiful tutorial. This is great for leftover zippers!
