  • Genesis is a book of fundamental importance for the Jewish and Christian faiths and has exerted a profound influence on Western Civilization. In addition to being a great religious text, it is also a literary masterpiece. We invite you to learn more by exploring Hillsdale College’s full course, “The Genesis Story: Reading Biblical Narratives.” Join us as we explore some of the work’s major narrative themes, including the complex relationship between God and man, the consequences of a rupture in that relationship, and the path toward reconciliation.

Hillsdale College is an independent institution of higher learning founded in 1844 by men and women “grateful to God for the inestimable blessings” resulting from civil and religious liberty and “believing that the diffusion of learning is essential to the perpetuity of these blessings.” It pursues the stated object of the founders: “to furnish all persons who wish, irrespective of nation, color, or sex, a literary, scientific, [and] theological education” outstanding among American colleges “and to combine with this such moral and social instruction as will best develop the minds and improve the hearts of its pupils.” As a nonsectarian Christian institution, Hillsdale College maintains “by precept and example” the immemorial teachings and practices of the Christian faith.
The College also considers itself a trustee of our Western philosophical and theological inheritance tracing to Athens and Jerusalem, a heritage finding its clearest expression in the American experiment of self-government under law.
By training the young in the liberal arts, Hillsdale College prepares students to become leaders worthy of that legacy. By encouraging the scholarship of its faculty, it contributes to the preservation of that legacy for future generations. By publicly defending that legacy, it enlists the aid of other friends of free civilization and thus secures the conditions of its own survival and independence.

I love the way Dr. Jackson thinks and teaches the bible. Is it just my brain looking for connections or is there one in the sense that they betrayed their father by selling Joseph and then Joseph (albeit much later) repays their betrayal with silver, similar to Judas' payment for betraying Jesus?

What version/type of Bible are you reading from, please? I like the way each verse number is on the left.

If you go to the first genesis, Adam and Eve video, he mentions it. Can't remember off hand

this once again seems to be an explication of the human experience of a parent child relationship. A parent with multiple child finding favoritism and the children all competing so hard for the same love and attention which they will never get. Is this God or and explication on human psychology? or is God, once again as I posited in my last rant to you nothing more than the imperfect struggling being filled with equal parts as suffering as we?
