Watched with my 5 year old daughter this weekend. When you fell on beam I said to her “see what Chellsie did? She fell. She smiled. She got back up. She didn’t dwell, she moved on. Everyone - even the big girls, fall. It’s what you do after that counts the most.” My daughter took it all in, and smiled “I know Mama, Chellsie says gymnastics is all about having fun. And that’s what I want to do too!” Thanks Chellsie, for showing the love of the sport and how to get up after you fall ♥️
Lets just pause for a moment and realize how fantastic this is for the entire family! This time with you and your dad is priceless, same for him. Your hubby must be so so so so so proud of you. Your kids see you happy and thriving. Your friends have something wonderful to celebrate and cheer about and along side your journey. This journey has brought an entire community together, both in your local community, sport, and entire worldwide youtube of friends.
Can we talk about her smile when she fell?! Seriously. I'm not sure I've ever seen anything quite so uplifting immediately following a fall. YOU'RE AN AMAZING HUMAN, CHELLSIE!!!! Thank you so much for showing the world what is possible.
That was the moment that made it for me!!! I was so nervous when she fell but as soon as I saw her smile ~*I*~ smiled, we knew instantly it was just one moment and she’d get back up♥️
Yaaas! The effort she put into thiscomeback is much more important than utter perfection, though it was quite near perfect, too. Anyway, you are a human and challenging (yet relatable) role model for many of us who never did more than a cartwheel in gym class. Your persistance and fortitude come what may is an inspiration for all of us. Whatever happens, whatever you do going forward, I'm a forever fan! And at age 60, ima start doing your Chellsie Challenge workouts at home. We old girls have some life in us yet. 😯😏😁
I was pregnant with my oldest when you were in Beijing. I never thought in a million years I’d be watching you compete again with my daughter by my side cheering you on as well! You’re phenomenal, and your family is SOOO amazing! I can’t wait to see you again in a few weeks ❤️ congratulations, Chellsie!
Love Chellsie’s husbands response. Feeling through her says everything about their relationship ♥️. Such a great family and support system, is right. Super happy and proud of you Chellsie. You’re such a huge inspiration to so many women. Glad everything went so well, super excited for the next. Much love
Could you do a breakdown of your beam to show all the deductions that were taken on your E score? As a judge yourself it would be great to hear where you thought all the deductions came from.
Yes please, but only if you are comfortable watching yourself. The deductions were very confusing. You are amazing!!!!!! Please keep sharing your journey wherever it may go.
I'm one of the ghost-watchers in the sense that I very rarely comment, but... I was among the people on twitter who, more than a year ago now, when you were still doing Chellsie Challenges and trying combo ideas for fun, occasionally replied to or quoted your videos with some mostly joking (but also a tiny percent serious, in a stupidly hopeful, "just imagine if" kind of way) comments about how you could TOTALLY come back to competition, and to all of us teasing you with this, you replied with thanks and laughing emojis. And it was a fun dynamic; and I didn't let myself get my hopes up. And then you started documenting your adult gymnastics journey on youtube, and I started watching every episode the week it comes out because watching a former elite do gymnastics again just for the love of it is bringing me so much joy I can't even describe it. And then it kept happening; first you said it was not a comeback but also it might be, and maybe I was screaming a little, and then you said it was an actual comeback (and this time I was definitely crying in front of my screen), and then... And then I was watching you vault at the US classics, through someone's livestream because US gymnastics tends to air on stuff that isn't easily accessible from Europe, and it was that moment of damn. That actually just happened. (If it feels like this for us who've been following along your journey, I can only imagine what it must have been like for you !) As someone who set foot in a gym for the first time at 18, after being stuck my entire teenage years wearing a back brace for a double scoliosis (genetics is a fun lottery), and took great joy in proving wrong everyone who told me that starting gymnastics as an adult -- especially with my history, considering that at 17 I could end up in tears just from standing for a few hours because my back was that fucked up -- was nothing short of insanity, I can't even tell you what a joy it's been to see you, step after step after step, prove wrong everyone who thinks gymnastics (/especially/ at higher levels) is solely a kid's sport. Beyond what this comeback is and means for you, it's also going to change the way people perceive gymnastics for the better, and on a large scale at that. And I'm genuinely so thankful about it. So, what I really want to say is: CONGRATULATIONS ON MAKING IT TO THIS POINT!!!!! And I cannot wait to see where this journey takes you in the future, wherever that is :D (And also, @ 2020 me: sometimes, very rarely but sometimes, stupidly hopeful "what ifs" actually do turn into reality. And oh my god, how much pure, unadulterated joy do they bring with them when they do!)
Chelsie just made gymnastics so much more interesting! She brings maturity and life experience. This comeback is inspiring, literally nobody else would be able to do this! Good luck for championships!!
I’ve been watching for 2 years now and I literally cried when you competed. You are proof to women out there that it’s NEVER too late to go back or even start. You are an inspiration to all 🤍
YOUR HUSBAND WAS MORE NERVOUS FOR THIS THAN FOR YOUR WEDDING OR THE BIRTHS OF YOUR CHILDREN 😅😅😅 Good man, it says a lot about him. It's weirdly harder to watch someone you love do a hard thing than to do it yourself
This experience is also breaking new ground for a new generation of athletes. You are an example of finding a healthy balance, while also achieving excellence in your sport.
Chellsie, I have never been more proud of someone I have never met, but man... I was nervous, and just like your lil sister, the minute you landed that vault I just sobbed and felt such joy. The amount of courage it takes to get up there on that podium and do that is impressive and inspiring. I am in my 40s now with 2 teenage sons, but in my younger years I was a dancer & cheerleader. When I was 34 I got back into peak shape again and started dancing again, taking all kinds of classes (hip hop, lyrical, ballet) at my friend's studio. I was having the time of my life falling back in love with dance all over again...aching joints and everything. First she convinced me to do a ballet dance recital on stage with the rest of her dance classes and then she somehow convinced me to tryout for a semipro dance team. I had never been more nervous in my entire life, I knew I probably didn't have a chance in hell, but I got out there with all these 18 and 19 year old girls and danced my heart out. I didn't make the team, but I made it through tryouts and 3 rounds of callbacks to the finals. and that was a big enough victory for me. The last 6 years have been a series of health issues that have stolen a lot of good years, but watching your comeback doing what you love, reminded me of my own journey and has brought me so much joy and hope... and slowly I am working on my health so I can dance again. Chellsie, you are remarkable and resilient, and I can't wait to see even more from you.
Very cool story. Inspiration to just give things a try. I hope you can dance again!! I also have chronic health issues which prevent a lot of things in life.
The ONLY thing that disappointed me about last weekend is that Andy didn't wear the blueberry polo tbh. You did amazing and I am so proud to be apart of your cheering squad!!
I definitely feel like Chelsie could be at her best form with some comps under her belt in time for Worlds later this year - she is an ICON and we need her at an international competition this year!
Your sister had me tearing up! I love that you have such a positive support system behind you. It was magical to watch you compete, truly. Amazing job!
You'll get a great bars score! Your tkachevs are sky high. You pirouette right on top of the bar. Your toes are always pointed. You catch your pak without bent arms. You dismount with your chest up! The only things they can deduct are: pak angle, maybe 0.1 on some handstands, hop or step on the dismount but if you hit clean handstands and stick the dismount $$$$
Can’t wait!! I am still really mad that the beam judges gave u such a low execution score! But that’s in the past! Girl you got this!!! I’m SO happy for you for making nationals!
same!!! I made a comment on another video about how I don't see how Laurie's e score was higher than Chellsie. . But I was looking at the score sheet and beam was brutally super harsh... Like I don't think international judges would have been THAT hard
@@christinedreams8099 essentially, you either qualify with a minimum all around score at classics or winter cup, or there are also ways to qualify with certain scores for event specialists or at national team camps. In Chellsies case, she hadn't qualified yet and wasnt eligible to "normally" qualify at classics because she didnt do all around. But you can also petition to championships if you had an injury or special circumstance, and because Chellsie has such a bright history in gymnastics and is a former Olympian, her petition was accepted. Essentially the petition is always accepted if theres proof of the circumstance and the committee has reason to believe in you, which they of course do in Chellsies case. Hope that helps!
And your sister has me bawling. 😭😭 You are so inspiring, Chellsie!! I’m a mom of 4 ages 8 and under. You have proven that nothing is impossible with hard work and dedication!
Hey Chellsie. As a former NCAA gymnast now in my 30s, I gotta say, what you’ve done is already an inspiration to me, not just in sport, but in life. Chell yeah!
The love and support your family has for you shines through with each of their cameos. Thanks for sharing that part of your life. Congrats again for accomplishing this momentous task and look forward to seeing you compete again and hopefully on bars this time!
You make gymnastics so special for me all over again. We’re all here with no expectations... just admiration for you! Totally appreciate how vulnerable you are in sharing your journey. 🤸♀️👩⚖️💜
It was so amazing seeing you out there again! My five year old daughter stopped everything when she saw you, shrieked “Chellsie!” And was glued to the tv while we watched. You are an inspiration to us both!
Absolute rock star! Could not be more proud of team Memmel! You are a winner no matter where you finish on the leaderboard. Thank you for inspiring this 50 year old to get healthy and back in shape. ChellYeah!
I love how supportive your family is. That must be amazing. So proud of you and all the progress you've made. Bars is looking really good lately. Looking forward to seeing you compete in the all-around!
Chellsie deserves SO much credit and admiration for her accomplishments! She is an inspiration to me - and I'm sure many - women over 30 (or 40)... ;) With all of the (deserved) celebration of Simone and Phil Mickelson the last few days, Chellsie should have also been in that spotlight. She is shining star and someone that deserves more notoriety than she has been given. I hope to see more in the coming meets and will be cheering for her at the Olympic Trials!!! :)
We watched. I am sure you were nervous, but you looked like you were having fun! I am glad you have done UA-cam videos to take us along on your journey. We're all rooting for you. You have me in tears with your husband on here. Oh my God. He loves you so much !!!!
I'm so happy for you and think you did so well considering everything. I'll be rooting you on until the end! You are an inspiration to so many! You've got grit and should be proud!
I can't thank you enough for letting us experience this with you! You have our support as long as you feel like continuing on, I can't wait to see what comes next! Chell Yeah!
Amazing meet Chellsie, you crushed it! It was unfortunate to see that arabian because you’ve been killing it in training. I wish the judges could give some sort of credit for putting one of the hardest elements in the CoP at the end of your routine! Keep it up, I can’t wait to watch you in Championships!
I'm not crying you're crying! Chell, you're an inspiration to so many! I've loved watching this comeback from the beginning! You have inspired me to get back in shape and who knows, maybe I'll compete in gymnastics again at the age of 34! Haha
I’ve cried twice watching gymnastics now. First time was when Alexa won Mexico’s first vault medal and the second was on Saturday after your vault! I even had to pause the coverage to gather myself LOL can’t wait to see your routines live at Champs!
Can't even believe the accomplishment. Did gymnastics when I was in high school and followed ever since. You are an inspiration to all who want to believe in what is possible!!
Loved telling my 10 and 7 year old all about you as we watched - they were so amazed that you are a mom doing amazing gymnastics :) Also loved seeing you in the Wall Street Journal on Monday!
Queen 🙌👑 thank you for the Chellsie Flex. When I saw that, I went, THAT'S THE SIGN! I don't even care if it was on purpose or not. We all recognized it😁💪💪
She did the "Chellsie Flex" and I MISSED it? (I had to wait until video of the competition was posted here to watch) I guess I have to send her a box of Caramellos!
Take a look at her Today show interview with Samantha Guthrie and Hoda Kotb. There's a still shot of the Chellsie Flex. I love that photo! We should get her to offer it on her online store.
so nervious for you im about to be 31 so you were literally the gymnast i watched on tv and thought how weird this girl is basically my age buy anyways you did so great ive been a subscriber before you even announced the offical comeback.. so happy for you and keep up the hard work.. an asian olympic games has been calling your name for so long beijing just wasn't the one.. i think you were already hearing tokyo and you just didnt know it yet
This is my favorite video to date. I love the journey you are on and you have such an amazing family. I hope you keep posting about your journey even after competitions are over. Your updates are the highlight of my week.
I heard your dad cheer for you loudly when you were on beam and that was such a great moment. I feel like I know you and your dad just from watching these videos. Thank you for sharing your emotions as you're going through this. You didn't look nervous at all! Congratulations!!! I can't wait to see you at the next meet.
Congrats Chellsie! Such a huge week and the culmination of so much dreaming, planning and work. Your presence back on the elite scene has a huge and incredibly positive impact. You are changing perceptions, prejudices and culture. So proud of you and happy that the journey continues. Thanks for sharing it all with us!
The competition level is just insane how far its come in the last 20 years, just looking back at that crazy 96 team and seeing the differences. Even at 32, the level of competition you bring is totally in line with what i've been watching in clips from the weekend, in what is already an amazing level of athlete to me. Hope to see more next time, go for it~~~
The journey continues! And I’m here for it! This was the most heartwarming video ever. Very well done and cool perspective of the competition, loved hearing all your thoughts about it and hearing from your family! Mara made me cry 😭 I felt like I was one of your sisters too bc that’s how I felt watching you land your vault!!!
I'm so happy for Chellsie! She had an amazing routine and she seemed just as happy after she fell. You are an inspiration Chellsie! Also it was so sweet when your husband talked about how nervous he was.
I felt your nerves before beam and let out a big “ohhh no!!” when you fell off, only bc you’ve worked so hard on sticking your Arabians (which btw, I only now know the name of since I started watching your videos last summer)! But then I saw your smile and I was brought to tears! Congrats on this extraordinary feat! Can’t wait for the next one; I’ll be cheering you on!!
GO CHELLSIE!!!! AWESOME START!!! We were all screaming from the top of our lungs and cheering for you! AMAZING! What an inspiration for everyone! Please continue!!! Olympics, Paris 2024! Tokyo 2020 is just the warm up! (:) Come on! Chusovitina is only 45 and she is still going... (:)
this was the most unreal moment for a fan to watch; i was a kid when i first watched you compete and now i'm a whole grown adult and it's the most surreal and exciting moment. so inspirational and best of luck at championships!
So so so so proud of you!!! What an incredible hurdle to overcome, such a huge step to take and overwhelming to say the least. You are beyond inspiring and are so loved by so many for the amazing journey you’re modeling for all of us, for your kids, for yourself . . . Reclaiming your fitness, your passion, and risk taking! LOVE YOU!! So fun that it’s like you’re starting RIGHT where you left off 9 years ago. Perfect. 😂🤩👌🏼
So proud of you! I watched live and kept telling my boys to quiet down so I could watch! It must be so awesome to have your husband there with you. Most husbands just watch old video of their wives’ doing gymnastics. How can we get a “Senior Competition Tour” for for gymnasts post college or elite? How amazing would that be? Great job Chellsie! Looking forward to Ft Worth!
You have such a lovely, down-to-earth, wonderful family and support system. Your journey is so inspiring and it just warms my heart to see you happy. I’ve been a fan of yours since your 2003 Pan Ams and Worlds debut as a gymnastics rock star. I hope you know that you are so loved and appreciated by multitudes of people. Your sister Mara said if best that once you landed your vault a flood of emotions, all happy ones, came over. Stay rockin’.
SOOOOOO PROUD OF YOU CHELLSIE! Literally you and Simone, of course, were the highlights for me. The moment you finished beam i stopped watching. Your return is "must see tv" and so inspirational. You rocked it! the slip on beam took nothing away from the incredible meet. the elements were all there! incredible!
It was so exciting to see you competing...on TV! Can't wait to see you in the next one. Will you compete all four routines next time? I was surprised to only see you on vault and beam.
I am so proud of you. You are such an inspiration to pursue what you love no matter your age. Keep up the awesome attitude and work. Your Dad is the best as well.
This is everything 🙌
Aww thats so sweet!
This is the definition of wholesome🙏💕
Ooooh that's really sweet! So nice to hear :D
This brought tears to my eyes!!
Andy: "We're going! ... Unless you don't want to!?" OMG, he is just the best.
That was too funny!!
Lets just pause for a moment and realize how fantastic this is for the entire family! This time with you and your dad is priceless, same for him. Your hubby must be so so so so so proud of you. Agreed!! Would love to hear your perspective as a judge.
Beam judging was quite harsh, while bars they were crazy generous. Vault was very inconsistent IMO.
Yea I personally thought that was super harsh score

We're cheering for you Chelsie. Stay strong. We're so proud of everything you've done. Keep inspiring! 😊
Chellsie I was so proud of you this weekend. You made me cry and I never cry.
Same! Cried after Chellsie vaulted, and later cried after Simone vaulted.
Absolute rock star! Could not be more proud of team Memmel! You are a winner no matter where you finish on the leaderboard. Thank you for inspiring this 50 year old to get healthy and back in shape. ChellYeah!
Amazing. Just amazing. Rooting for you here in England. 👍☺️
So frustrating that I don’t think I’ve ever seen you fall on the Arabian until the meet. that beam was definitely cursed for everyone though!
I am super STOKED for this and I'm so happy for how well she did .. while I'm sure not what she had intended. It's only up from here!!
I'm crying along with your sister! Awwww!!!

You got this girl. Your fans are behind you all the way. Stay confident. Keep prepping positive thoughts to yourself. You can do it and we love you. 💜
Yay! I’m so proud of you Chellsie!! Your smile even after falling inspires me so much!
Also unrelated but Wild Kratts is my childhood and I love it 😉😂
I'm so happy for you and think you did so well considering everything. I'll be rooting you on until the end! You are an inspiration to so many! You've got grit and should be proud!
I can't thank you enough for letting us experience this with you! You have our support as long as you feel like continuing on, I can't wait to see what comes next! Chell Yeah!
I'm not sure if i cried more when you landed that vault or when i watched your sister talk about crying when you landed that vault
Right!!!!!
Omg are you my twin? Couldn’t have said it better myself!
We are all so proud of you!
Can't even believe the accomplishment. Did gymnastics when I was in high school and followed ever since. You are an inspiration to all who want to believe in what is possible!!
Fantastic! I watched the US Classics and you were amazing. You just proved that if you work hard you can achieve anything. Good Luck!
CHELLSIE YOUR SISTER MADE ME CRY. You're amazing, so proud of you!!! So excited to see your next competition!
Loved telling my 10 and 7 year old all about you as we watched - they were so amazed that you are a mom doing amazing gymnastics :) Also loved seeing you in the Wall Street Journal on Monday!
This was the best. I’ve been following for awhile now and watching her have a successful competition was emotional. Very cool.
I’m getting emotional all over again. You were so incredible!! I really loved watching you compete, me and my mum were cheering you on from the UK!
@@A.Girl.Has.No.Name. check the end of both routines! Chellsie flexed coming off the floor both times lol
@@spanglelime LOL she totally did!! 😆😆
Take a look at her Today show interview with Samantha Guthrie and Hoda Kotb. There's a still shot of the Chellsie Flex. I love that photo! We should get her to offer it on her online store.
Lil’ sis had to be cutting onions. 😭 ❤️
so nervious for you im about to be 31 so you were literally the gymnast i watched on tv and thought how weird this girl is basically my age buy anyways you did so great ive been a subscriber before you even announced the offical comeback.. so happy for you and keep up the hard work.. an asian olympic games has been calling your name for so long beijing just wasn't the one.. i think you were already hearing tokyo and you just didnt know it yet
The joy and pride expressed by you family was so special to hear, totally fetch!
The competition level is just insane how far its come in the last 20 years, just looking back at that crazy 96 team and seeing the differences. Even at 32, the level of competition you bring is totally in line with what i've been watching in clips from the weekend, in what is already an amazing level of athlete to me. Hope to see more next time, go for it~~~
You did so good at Classics. Can’t wait to see you less nervous
My feelings exactly!!!
I’m so so so proud of y’all you have no idea I cried when you landed your vault
Come on! Chusovitina is only 45 and she is still going... (:)
Truly a gymnastics icon. So humble and down to earth. The future of gymnastics is lucky to have you.
So in awe of you, and I can't wait to see where this journey takes you!
this was the most unreal moment for a fan to watch; i was a kid when i first watched you compete and now i'm a whole grown adult and it's the most surreal and exciting moment. so inspirational and best of luck at championships!
You guys are such an amazing family!!! I love how close and supportive you are of each other. And Chellsie, you are so inspiring to me!! 💜💕🙌
You did awesome Simone biles fell to so everyone was nervous I watched the classic just to watch your events the judges were a bit harsh!
So happy for you Chellsie. I watched your beam routine and I’ve never willed anyone on so much, I cried all the way through. You were amazing x
Absolute gymnastics perfection!
BRAVA, Chelsie!!! Praying for your strength and focus and calm!!
Chellsie is amazing. Such an encouraging and heartwarming display of humanity!
What a great sister you have. So nice to see how close your family is.
So loving this journey. We are all completely cheering for you. Can’t wait for more!
I was thrilled to see how you did and thrilled with your feature article in the Wall Street Journal - bigger than Simone’s, wow!
You did great!👏 So inspiring 🖤💜
You a warrior! We are so inspired by you!
