Hey everyone please be sure to check out Gabri's channel, he's got a lot of really cool videos on there: ua-cam.com/channels/fNXpMeoDLvj_tagsdCuFCw.html
Gabri is the real deal, great video amish, super enjoyable, love your commentaries as always. Id advise you to try to hard counter your opponent sometimes. Here it was for fun but when comes a fight you really want to win, switching to something you know has the advantage and knowing how to apply it properly will get you a long way. To find out what works you have to try different setups. Cheers
Thanks and yes for these fights I'm just trying to push myself. Normally now I am a much more active weapon swapper as you will soon see in an upcoming video.
@@j.p.burrowes1343 I'll give you my answer though curious to hear what others say. I think it's really important to outspace the dagger. But, I should have been attacking out of stun, and it becomes a mind-game - anticipating the UGS R1s and avoiding trading with it.
@@iamamish Would a kickflip interrupt the ultra r1 coming out of stun? If you were to use it could you be punished out of hitstun because if it does come out fast enough to interrupt the ultra (and dagger?) then you could use it everytime to reset the situation to neutral and avoid the mindgame out of stun. I don't utilize the kickflip enough so I'm not sure what it can cannot do.
@@iamamish Jeenine is right the match up game is strong in this game so if you want to have an easier time to win switch weapons according to what the opponent is using. For ugs/dagger perserverance is the nastiest counter to it as it is for alot of things its just for this case it makes dagger bounce and it makes u tank ugs r1 and bs. If not just learn how to use ss/xbow to be close to grim and counter everything the game throws at you by default 😏
The mindgames with the bundle animation is terrifying. You see a quick action like that and its impossible to immediately differentiate between if its a dagger swing or the bundle. Think its a dagger swing and roll = eat a ugs run attack. Think its a bundle and dont roll = eat a dagger swing -> panic because caught off guard -> get roll caught. Very good stuff
Every video you post just makes me want to fight the player you’re fighting. This series is great. I think a better word to describe the best players instead of passive is just “careful”. They rarely commit to attacks that could potentially get them punished, and if they do it’s because the payoff is worth a lot more than the risk. It’s a very calculated approach to PvP.
Very cool fights. I’ve recently started using the Corvian over the Mail Breaker as my offhand weapon of choice when using the Farron GS so its nice to know I’m on to something :)
You talk about how these top players know all the intricacies of the weapons and the matchups and all that jazz but I think further than that the thing that impresses me is how they know it all consciously while fighting. As a player with slow reaction times I try to rely on prediction and knowledge to fight but these guys are constantly putting all this info to use in a conscious way rather than relying on trained instinct or preloaded moves for each encounter. Saint Riot once described Schwa Akari as seeing the game move by move in slow motion then slowing her videos so we could see it that way and watching Gabri or Jeenine it’s like that’s what’s genuinely going on. They’re often playing off sight reaction especially when initiating or being initiated on but they’re also clearly thinking through their moves and adapting which is a big part of what makes Jeenine’s aggressive swapping so dangerous when he suddenly has access to 100 attacks rather than 8 and all the possibilities are being ... computed is maybe the best word for it. It’s super impressive stuff.
Very well said and I agree. Mocha said something about JeeNiNe's up-close mix-up game, and how the game is evolving. His up-close Ledo swaps are scary af.
I got my friend to get DS3 during a sale. He wanted to pvp right from the start and naturally, he died very, very often to me ( i'd been playing for almost a year by that point). Eventually he got frustrated of pvp with me, not in a way that stopped him from playing but rather he realized he had a lot to learn. So anyways fast foward a few weeks and he invites me to play again. We start pvping and the change is obvious. He had learnt so much and seeing him grow as a player made me feel very happy. The first time he pivot BSd me, I couldn't have been prouder.
I love this series, pls keep it going man, there are still a lot of super good players out there :-) Since you were talking about knowing how much FP your Opponent has left: I'm pretty sure the best Players also pay attention on how much End you have consumed and they choose Moments you are probably at low End to punish and pressure you. Thats something I'm trying to include in my Game aswell lately.
You are absolutely right and I neglected to mention that. Gabri and I were talking about that as well. I don't do a good job of tracking my opponent's endurance consumption.
Great point about top tier players having an in depth knowledge about the weapons and priority. I remember playing against painted quite a bit back in the revan bracket days and that was his biggest piece of advice to me. It’s something that I kind of took for granted in the past, like I’ve been playing this game since launch I know the move sets but it’s an entirely different matter in terms of knowing which Weapons take priority against others and poise break and hyper armor and all that.
Thanks for the footage and commentary Amish, as always. And while you did get beat it's a lot more apparent that you've been able to hold your own for much longer. Now I think for duels, learning the predictions and mindgames are the next step. Well not only duels, but that's what I think you're focusing on. Beethoven's Fifth is a great choice btw, my favorite.

30% feels right to me - I did reaction roll it sometimes but it is definitely inconsistent. Also being too poised to reaction roll it caused me to panic roll a few times.
Well played on both sides, every move was like a motion in an elaborate dance of death. I’ve got two main concerns for amish on this, however: First is timidity. Obviously this is one that is difficult to deal with, with the knowledge that you’re outmatched, but a great deal of what I see from good players is exploitation of hesitation, as was shown when Gabri whipped out the UGS x dagger. Much of what less skilled players do in damaging a better player is viewed as a side-effect of some flaw in the better player’s style that minorly inconvenienced them imo. I would handle this by first getting out of my head that anything I do is safe, then, I’d take the fight slow and observe the style of my opponent (in Gabri’s case, aggressive), then come into the fight with a strategy that should counter their array of maneuvers. You mentioned your lack of serious, committed pressure when you had the momentum, and I can’t stress enough how crucial pushing the aggression is against players who put you on the defensive, especially when you get punished for being too committed to your aggression. For me personally, I don’t let up if someone hits me with a rolling attack and subsequently trades r1s with me, and that gives them the idea that you’re not going to take their shit and back down. Even if you aren’t as balls-to-the-wall as hyper-aggressive players, the illusion of confidence can give you some time to think while your opponent looks for openings. Strategy and deception often times can close the gap between skill levels if applied correctly. Second: Off hand options. It’s not uncommon to see people fighting a whole duel with one weapon set, never switching it up, but here it seems to be a problem (I am also guilty of this). There’s nothing wrong with using a weapon that you are comfortable with and sticking with it, but I was witness to many opportunities for hard swapping for mixups or surprise game. I won’t dive into main hand swapping because I know that you love your spears and greatswords, so I’ll instead guide your attention to your off-hand- the estoc. With Gabri’s ‘turn away r1s’ playing such a huge role in his game, I’d find the parry of the rapier to be better suited for pushing him back. Yes, you lose range, damage, and block feinting, but it’s right next to the estoc in the menu, and is hard to recognize immediately when you swap if you’re facing away. Another way to subvert the problem of getting caught by Gabri’s r1s is to block, which obviously isn’t a great idea with any off hand weapon, so I propose the use of a shield, medium or small. Lothric and Black knight shields have very low mental pressure on the opponent, as they are primarily used as a defensive tool to give the wielder breathing room with their ridiculous stability. Something like the Iron Round or Llewellyn shield would present mental pressure in the form of parrying, which a good read could easily allow (and still have the stability to not force you to give up ground when blocking). A good player would, of course, mixup their timings and temper their aggression to counteract the risk of getting parried, though that change in style leaves gaps that can be exploited. Say they delay an attack after hitting your shield, they’ve just given you a window to hit them because they anticipate a parry. Note that even if the parry never comes, people will be subject to fighting differently subvert that risk. If they recognize that parrying isn’t a threat and begin reverting to their old style, they’ve just showcased complacency that can earn them a out-of-left-field riposte, all because of the surprisingly complex mental game of small shields. Using one is personal choice, suited for one’s own style, as it should be, but with all the off hand shenanigans you do, coming back to ‘basics’ can yield some very interesting realizations about deeper aspects of things you might have otherwise brushed off for its supposed ‘basicness’. Lastly, sorry I’m late to the party. Gittin’ gudder as always, amish.
Hey mate I totally agree. My consistent downfall is getting too intimidated by better players. I have made progress though, and it's not nearly as bad as it used to be. The worst example was the dagger/UGS build, but a lot of that is not knowing what to do, and trying to formulate a battle plan under tremendous pressure.
The experience to become better through failure and beating is something that i learned back at times when i played Quake and Unreal Tournament. It is real emphasis of becoming pro or gid-gud in maybe every hardcore game. You never will become better at it if you will not find worthy opponent. That's why DS and Quake have an audience that is so small compared to the main stream games. EVERYONE want to be a winner and feel super good. But if everyone is super, nobody is super.
@@ORBrunner Funny enough, my journey to gitting gud at video games started with a video by Thresh. I'd been playing Quake for a while, but watching those videos opened my eyes to what was possible. I think you made a good point about aggression (around 12minutes I think) tbh it’s kinda the nature of dark souls combat and I think it’s a shame with sekiro coming out this month that it’s a single player game cause it’s combat system kinda solves that problem with posture and being able to deflect making the game a little bit faster as opposed to dark souls
Great video Amish! I do disagree about two handed ultras not being viable. When I fight some Dedicated 2h ultra players it’s a whole different ballgame. But I’m loving this series, love your style and commentaries! Gg my friend!
With the spear try using running R1s as a roll catch when an opponent rolls away after a combo. If they roll straight back you have a good chance of catching them, and if they start rolling to the side you can roll catch with your offhand SS or GS or another horizontal swinging weapon.
The 180s you were talking about are really deceptive on some weapons. I do them with katanas, greatswords, maces and club. I like how he plays, in terms of aggression.
Yo, i need a tip, when facing someone that moves or plqys this way, reffering to superior spacing and extremely pressureful playstyle, i just get tilted to hell, lose all concentration and panic roll, the knowledge of ones reputation sometimes gets to me, and with the tilt i just go down, any tips? (Also great video as always amish)
Man I dunno - these players are the best and it is so hard to avoid getting frustrated. I try to accept I’m going to lose up front and that helps remove some of the pressure. Tbh I’m used to winning so accepting the losses up front is a good strategy. Thanks Doomsday!!
Gabri is definitely the real deal....look out when he comes out with the gs. In My opinion gabri has a similar style to Jeenine when he is 2 handing the gs.
I just thought of something, you should have a broken handmaindens dagger with whatever gives the worst damage and if you want to reapply tears just spam them and get that fp back
@@Swirleo that's a really good idea! Also I have an Xbox One and I'd considered getting Souls for that platform but I think 2 is (more than) enough. I hope to see you on PS4!

To sum this up, seeing these guys called top tier, for shit I been doing forever, better, feels good. I am very humble by nature, but its like a huge compliment to me, to know what my skills actually amount to. Some of the "tech" like pivots, are common sense fastest route to the booty. An elementary school student could point out the fastest route. I just find it all quite amusing 😂 Honestly you're improving a lot, and it's awesome seeing everyone grow. Love the content and I can't wait to see what you become.
@@TacoLord510 No. I just been around since kingsfield and been playing video games since I was 4. I posted this more for lols but already regretting it 😂 People automatically think, this guy... is full of shit :O I have nothing to gain from what I say lol. It's just banter 😋
Kinda sucks that when we make someone salty they call us cowards because we are so evasive, it doesn't bother me much but for most just because we aren't trading hits means we are bad? Please players consider that no one plays the same as you and some people aren't as dumb to trade hits all the time or be in your face 24/7.
Some of it I think comes from what meta tryhards do in arena. Other parts of that “passive bitch” opinion can be shaped by what high level pvp *l o o k s like*. Generally, people who spend less time with the game call by what they see, and refuse to understand the inner workings of it for fear of being disproven, which can lead to heavy confirmation bias. For me I just find it boring when actual passive katana running r1 only players are content to strafe around you and perpetually back up, never trying to do anything but whittle you down from safety. I do, however recognize that their style is not at all representative of high level pvp, winrate=/=skill all the time in my opinion.
Thanks. The other thing is that it's really hard to assess somebody's skill from watching YT videos, a fact I've learned the hard way many times. IMO people are at least 30% better than they appear from a video. The way he outspaces me is really amazing.
around 15:20 you said 2h ugs is garbage ... i suggest you play with the best ugs players in this community then tell me if you did not change your mind ... best players are not always the famous players.
OK a few things: 1. In fairness I am not an experienced UGS player so maybe they are better than I think 2. A top-tier UGS player is probably better than I am, so we'd be comparing skills as much as weapon selection I maintain that comparing players of equal skill, the 2H UGS player probably loses. I am not quite sure what fame has to do with being good
iamamish ok it’s not about top players being better than you .. it’s about the wrong idea you have on ugs ... you have nothing to lose it you fight the best ugs players in this game ... i promess you will see the game differently after
Yeah for sure - I'm totally down to fight UGS players. I'm just making the point that if they're better *players*, then them beating me with a UGS won't necessarily mean anything about the weapon. To see if the *weapon* is good, you'd want two players of roughly comparable skill level.
As much as I love ugs, I know their limits. They are definitely not as bad as ppl make them out to be. They are however extremely hard to use 2h only against the top players especially on pc. I have beaten every good play with an ugs 2h but I don't think I can beat them consistently and in the long run I would lose more fights. I know there is to know about ugs and even made a video tutorial with jeenine on how to use them properly so I'm speaking from experience. Sadly I won't let me love for the weapon class cloud my judgment on where they stand. They are the best ultra for sure but they will not make u go far against the best players unless u add some fast weapon with them for mix up.
Babba Gabri i can hook you up with the best ugs players on ps4 if you want to ... i know their limits too... it requires more skills to be good with ultras than with a pkcs imo ...
You could do better if you just spam shit out of him with your straight sword instead of using fuckin estoc, you can do all these fancy shit but nothing can be better than good ol r1 spam this is how this game was made
@@iamamish estoc speed is almost slow as spear r1 and has shit traking but ss r1 can punish reaction side rolls so he wouldn't be able to attack you with dagger and ugs r1 is so slow that you can hit and roll betwean it swings
Originally I wasn't going to dignify this but maybe you are just confused so I will respond. Duping items via save-scumming isn't "cheating" IMO. I think we've all had friends drop us soul packs, weapons, rings, embers, etc. That said, using siegs/blessings you've duped in invasions is a bit of a grey area. I'm personally not a fan (mostly), but I don't think it rises to the level of cheating. Also, these were duels and i was simply using them to avoid returning to my world. Hard to understand why anyone would have a problem with that. I'd have used cheat engine to enable infinite estus for these duels if I weren't worried about getting banned, and I don't see any reason to have an issue with that.

Yes they were exceptionally deceptive. I cannot believe I have never seen that before.
Also check out his R2 video, I know you'll appreciate it: ua-cam.com/video/_YM_ICEKgeo/v-deo.html
All you have to do is roll properly and randoms be like “yOuRe So PasSiVe d0oDd”
SO TRUE. I'm kicking around a video about this right now.
what i noticed about these fights is that you rarely took your 2 hit true combo, i recommend you work on your hit confirms
yeah i talked about that. It's a problem that I'm working on against better players.
tremendous
@@iamamishacceptence you say.... hmmm
Where is that video on how to fight mages? They always give me a ton of trouble
ua-cam.com/video/PhPN18BMnZg/v-deo.html
iamamish thanks man!
Hey amish, when are we seeing more sl434 invasions?
I’ve fired up my SL 434 a few times but there wasn’t much activity. Where do you find activity?
@@iamamish my highest is about 280, so I still get a fair bit of activity post pontiff.
Gabri is definitely the real deal....look out when he comes out with the gs. In My opinion gabri has a similar style to Jeenine when he is 2 handing the gs.
Nah they have different styles. Jeenine plays off r2 in neutral more and Gabri is more aggressive in ur face.
Yeah I've fought both and tbh I feel like I have an easier time w/ JeeNiNe's GS (easiER, not EZ)
Hussein Krisht well i didnt say they played the exact same way just similar although i totally agree that he is more aggressive than jeenine.
Once I get my next paycheck I'm buying a ps4 to fight you guys, looks like a ton of fun man
I just thought of something, you should have a broken handmaindens dagger with whatever gives the worst damage and if you want to reapply tears just spam them and get that fp back
@@Swirleo that's a really good idea! Also I have an Xbox One and I'd considered getting Souls for that platform but I think 2 is (more than) enough. I hope to see you on PS4!
@@iamamish I will pay pal you money to get ds3

@@Swirleo wait seriously? Only $7? I'll look next time I'm there.
One of my dream is playing against gabri and i played against every good player the only player who make me think that im really bad at the game is jhorsch
Hey Abdulrahman, we can arrange sometime to play buddy just let me know what system it is. Just know that it will be a while since I will be busy these days but we will make it happen bud. Also, Jhorsh is one of the best players so don't feel to bad. He is also one of the nicest people out there and I don't think he would mind playing with u and give u some tips
@@gabri9886 i am playing at playstation
I remember that fight with the mage I was cheering for you with Jeenine, was a shame you lost.
Thanks! The last 30 seconds or so were sweaty af, and I remember my stamina was depleted and having trouble recovering it. It was really close.
Was there an episode of Gettin’ Gud you didn’t upload? Because you had to have picked up the music choice from rehvion.
@iamamish ban him pls
@@Toccoooo LMAO
I didn't want to put a lot of thought into my music choices. Next up - Wagner
Be careful, if youre too humble like that youre gonna hit your head on your way up
@@Jeenine Nah man I am well aware of where I stand. I hit my head enough though I am a bit tall :/

Love the series, it really shows the differences between decent players and the godlike players like Gabri or JeeNine
Thanks. The other thing is that it's really hard to assess somebody's skill from watching YT videos, a fact I've learned the hard way many times. IMO people are at least 30% better than they appear from a video. The way he outspaces me is really amazing.
Castle next :)
Castle already humiliated me with his dragon form scimitar a few days ago. :(
@@iamamish just say hes got maple syrup wifi and flappy arms..
Naw he needs to fight buffman first
@@TacoLord510 naw this is a featurette for good players
Hey, Amish. Have you tried being more aggressive?
Yes. I'll post one of those clips sometime. *shudder*
Sorry this deserves a better answer. Yes, I'm working on that but with his spacing it is really difficult to be EFFECTIVELY more aggressive.
Hey what soul level are these builds
Some Orange Kid meta 125
around 15:20 you said 2h ugs is garbage ... i suggest you play with the best ugs players in this community then tell me if you did not change your mind ... best players are not always the famous players.
OK a few things:
1. In fairness I am not an experienced UGS player so maybe they are better than I think
2. A top-tier UGS player is probably better than I am, so we'd be comparing skills as much as weapon selection
I maintain that comparing players of equal skill, the 2H UGS player probably loses.
You could do better if you just spam shit out of him with your straight sword instead of using fuckin estoc, you can do all these fancy shit but nothing can be better than good ol r1 spam this is how this game was made
he can reaction the ss too easily. However I should have been trying to leverage more of my estoc pokes into straight sword R1s.
@@iamamish estoc speed is almost slow as spear r1 and has shit traking but ss r1 can punish reaction side rolls so he wouldn't be able to attack you with dagger and ugs r1 is so slow that you can hit and roll betwean it swings
stop cheating infinite siegbräus and divine favours
Lol
