Edit: OKAY BEFORE I GET ANYMORE COMMENTS ABOUT IT... I am NOT comparing sweetener and rare based on quality, radio play, replay value, etc. I'm comparing them in the sense of they are BOTH healing albums from the artist after a publicly hard time in their life. Also comparing them in the fact of when Sweetener was first released, SO MANY people were dragging it and hating on it for sounding different or for reason # 1,2, or 3. To be honest, a lot of criticism I see towards Rare, I also saw towards Sweetener upon release. Y'all already know Sweetener is my baby and got me through shit and I will defend her to my last dying breath. She is MY healing album and I recognize what she does for me, this album could do for someone else. dats it. it aint that deep I promise

I agree with you, Sweetener and Rare for me to be honest I didn't like it too much at my first listening, but I started to listening more times and now I ALREADY LOVED IT, I cannot wait to get RARE in physical format, also for me this álbum reminds as well to DEDICATED by Carly Rae Jepsen due to the production kinda like soft EDM sound but without losing the caractheristic pop line by Selena!!!!

Selena said she wrote it in an interview about this old couple she met who would go out together, but wouldn't hang around each other. But, they would look at each other from across the room to check on each other. So, not sure how Bebe wrote it.

i think revival is still her best but were all entitled to our own opinions.. this era was ok for me i liked some of the songs but choosing rare as a single was not a good move imo

@@nothingnew8770 Well that is your point of view. The album sounds cohesive to me, there is a story, a continuity and the lyrics follow all the same main theme of the album, which is the overcoming, it doesn't feel boring or out of thematic.

Big Mark Rules I’ve listened to the album a couple of times since released through and i still haven’t really changed my opinion. The songs are more cohesive than they were on the second or third listen but many of the songs you listed just aren’t INTERESTING. They all have one, at the most, feature that catches the listener and then kinda loses them after you realize wait like that’s all that’s gonna happen. For example Ring and Cut you off both are super interesting upfront but they just plateau for me 🤷♂️
Kevin Meza Maybe THATS why the album doesn’t excite me or I haven’t found myself being like “OMG let’s go listen to her new album” other than LAHN or Ring none of the songs offer anything different. Really sounds like vunerable and fun just blend together which feels like 80% of the album. Maybe it’s cohesive but being SO cohesive and following the same theme so strictly does this album a disservice. There’s a reason Ring, LYTLM, and Cut You Off are standouts. They actually STANDOUT from the same song w/ a decent message and a different beat just copied and pasted for me. The highs are high on the album and lows are just boredom for me.

Rare is totally her sweetener era. It’s her most distinctive production styles yet along with her best and most empowering/positive lyrics. It also has a couple mixed bags that take awhile to grow because of the artistic liberties taken production-wise.
I feel like is better than sweetener the lyrics and beats are so much better. Ariana grande's thank you next album is gold though.

Ever since Rare came out I have been waiting for this cause everyone's like oh this is so different and bad blah blah but I knew Ash was the only one who was gonna understand the album because this is not a regular pop album. It's versatile and I love it

It's annoying to see people complain about it because she has worked hard on this album and she's experimented a little. I feel like she has grown as an artist and people not being appreciative and complaining about the album sounding different annoyed me.
VULNERABLE IS THE IT SONG THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE. Although personally a sweeter place is number 2 for me.
