Honestly I'm 14 and I bought a 70 dollar bike from Walmart I rode it til the brakes collapsed and ripped all the brakes off it and let it sit for about 2 years then I decided to put it back together (brakeless) and then I let it sit another couple months then I actually learned how to work with bikes fixed it up got some new parts and a front brake and it works fine for me and I beat on it pretty hard so honestly Walmart bikes aren't that bad unless you ride daily at the park and ride super hard
I agree that this one is tough enough for general riding around and some light stunts. My son and his friends have learned to do backflips and flairs, and this bike isn't tough enough for that. It would break and someone would get hurt. He did this video review of the bike. ua-cam.com/video/2YPFhRpZ2O4/v-deo.html
That is the way to go. Buy a good bike for $300-$400, and it will work great for years. Buy a cheap one, and you will wear it out fast and maybe get hurt in the process.
Lol...Im 47 and i ride this bike .. stripped it of chain guard..stickers..kick stand..added pegs and a paint job ...rode for 4hrs this Saturday had a great time with no issues
i remember when me and my friend were riding bikes but one of the tires on my friends bike was broken so when he was riding it it did a wheelie and he fell off😂😂😂😂😂😂
I have this bike and it is holding up very well after months of street bmxing.... if you rip the stickers off - take the reflectors off - lower the seat, it looks convincing (I'm taking the breaks/kickstand off)... the ride is smooth also my handle bars are tight and this IS a good learner's bike plus it's light as a feather: when I go over speedbumps I pop a wheelie - I can turn in tight spaces without tripping up my stance - it's small - I can load this bike in a trunk quickly. In my opinion, this is the best cheap BMX bike you could buy.
METALLICA FAN 89 I see what you mean by that. I guess it is technically a bmx, but it’s not 300 dollars. Which would mean its high quality and dedicated right? I’m not educated on bikes. I’m a sophomore and I only have one crappy bike so I’m not really educated on them.
Thanks for the sandpaper advice. Have the same problem with the handlebars on my son's bike I bought a year ago. Guess it wasn't important enough to address at the factory by now.
+Eddie Scorsese yes. It should be fine for that. My son and his friends are in high school, and they really beat the hell out of the bike. But for just riding around it should be fine. Make sure you check the torque on all the bolts, because they tend to leave things loose on department store bikes. Here is an update video that my son and his friends made about the bike. ua-cam.com/video/GfqXWTcNA0I/v-deo.html
got this bike like year and a half ago and damn is it sketchy asf I think I just got unlucky but the front brake broke and got stuck on the wheel mid ride which sent me over the handlebars not to mention the back brake got hella loose after a bit of causal riding and just recently noticed the front wheel is getting mad shaky which is a result of the fork bending a bit from excess use overall its a solid starter bike and especially for a kid its good just have to be careful to not abuse it as much as it might be short lasting
It's insane how owning the same product csn bring so many people together. I legit found a bike just like this one lol 🤣. It was abandoned for three days so I picked it up and it's pretty cool lol
Peddle Sprocket is very small, substandard. Careful with the steering neck bolt and handlebar fastener bolts. They come loose easily. The Sprocket cup bearings also start to grind and snap soon. Not designed for any kind of torque or any hill. Other than that the bike is ok for just play. Boys will be boys and that means rough on bicycle, ramping and such. 2.5 of 5.
Good info. You are correct. This is a good bike for a kid to ride around the neighborhood on, and to see if he really wants to learn all of the difficult BMX tricks. Most kids just want a bike that looks kind of cool that they can ride around the neighborhood, but they’ll never jump it off anything or learn how to do bar spins or backflips.
I have this it’s the bike I suffered serious bruise on my left chest area, making me think I damaged a rib. It’s also my second bike because I learned how to ride. (I’m stupid, and wait 5 years to even attempt to get on a bike.)
I own the exact BMX in that video. Though, mines being used for parts for my brothers BMX since my bike is having rear wheel lock-ups and chain issues that will be expensive to fix. Those BMX are good bikes aslong it's maintained once in a while.
thats strange that it dont have the cable brackets for the forks that allow you to spin the handlebars, i have seen so many kents from walmart have them, its also strange that its missing a peg, they do come with both, however it depends on the store, some have their employees assemble them, some have a professional that drives from store to store to assemble them. btw, pull the crank and grease them bearings, most the time i work on a wamart bike theres no grease on the crank bearings, they are caged bearings so they wont roll out on the floor on you.
+carolina beachin I think the $99 bike comes with a gyro brake setup. On the website picture it only shows one peg, so I think that is all you get. Anyone who buys a department store bike should always check all the bolts and make sure they are tight. We'll have to grease those bearings. Thanks.
hoohoohoblin yeah, sure can! It rained for a few minutes and I fell on it, and it hasn’t rusted or anything of that sort. One of those blue things that stick out (I guess those are for going down hills?) got a little loose but I tightened it with just my hand.
Maybe so. Most kids who buy a BMX bike never learn to do anything too stressful to it, so the cheap bike is fine. This one took a pretty good beating and is still in great shape. We were impressed with what is possible for $69. A kid could actually learn all the basic tricks on this bike before upgrading.
I brought the exact same bike from Walmart, had to take it bake so they could fix my handle bar and a few months later the chain stopped rotating my back tire 🙄
Just my own uneducated humble opinion, I would never buy my kid a cheap bike. I'd rather spend a little more money and KNOW that they have a quality product underneath them than some piece of shit Walmart death machine with pretty stickers. To me good equipment inspires confidence.
Definitley, if you have the money. For people who can't afford $300 or $400 for an OK BMX bike, this is a way to at least get the kid started riding a bike. I'd estimate that only about 10% of kids who get a BMX style bike actually take the time to learn difficult and dangerous stunts, so this bike does work for the 90% of kids who just want to ride around on a bike with BMX style. And if they start doing big bunny hops and flipd and flyout tricks, you can sell the bike for $40 at a garage sale and upgrade them to a bigger bike. The most dangerous part of this bike, and probably any cheap bike, is where the handlebars connect to the stem. We JB Welded it to keep them from moving.
***** I suppose there is the budget aspect. But then if money was the issue and if they were so inclined could get them a second hand BMX bike from someone who's taken care of it. Personally I'm a bit....wishy washy about buying second hand with somethings it's cool but others I dunno. I mean you can't go back and grab someone and say "oi you sold me a dangerous product I want my money back here's my receipt" to something you bought in a private sale. I suppose you could sue but that's a long and time consuming process for very little gain. Where was I going with this.....Oh yeh. TL:DR You have a good point and welding it sounds like a decent idea.
Yeah. It’s not a great bike for actual BMX riding, but if a kid wants to get one cheap to see if he likes BMX, and then get a real bike later, it’s good for that.
Quality is a huge key in the pricing of real bmx but I was wondering is real bmx bikes weigh less than Walmart bikes so it makes it easier to get the bike off the ground or is the weight the same?
Ive had mine for about 2 weeks or so and my bike is acting up if i stop peddling the bike would make noise and when i try again it won't work till i peddle 3 or more times dyk why?
This was your first BMX, Is there a later/better model, because it appears that this 1 has alot of flaws, do you have any suggestions because my son really likes this bike but with all the negative comments i really feel like it's not safe and/ or not dependable, how long ago did you have this bicycle? What would be your suggestion for a nice dependable bike for a 12 yr. old? I would really appreciate your opinion. Thanks! Don Ramon.
A good entry-level BMX bike costs around $300. And they don’t sell them at Walmart. Go to danscomp.com and look at the bikes in the $300 range. We’ve bought a lot of BMX parts and some bikes from them. They have good resources on their site telling you how to know what size of frame to buy, and what kind of bike to buy. Not sure if they are open during the quarantine or not though. You could call them on the phone and see.
Got in a bike crash with this bike I was sent to the hospital twice, brakes not that good almost broke my hip once and went down a hill and brakes sent my bike up
to tell the truth it is possible to find a good wamart bike! i have a dk the machine which has been through hell and back and the only things that i actually broke were the front wheel and the headset but i got those replaced and then got forks bars and a sunday stwm from my friend
+Sodapop go to the Walmart website and read the reviews. It gets four out of five stars. It looks like a decent beginner bike, but I would recommend learning how to ride on it, and then upgrading to a really good BMX bike in the future rather than upgrading parts on this frame. A better BMX bike would be lighter and stronger than this one, and it would have sealed bearings on the crank and headset.
Mtb Wheelie Nut that's what I always did with Walmart bikes. The last one I had the levers would not move. I was probably 13 before I had the strength in my hands to even use them to slow the bike down. In fact it took both hands to get one the go far enough to squeeze the tires. Had it adjusted at a bike shop twice and even they said I needed different levers. Right now I'm fixing up a Walmart bike (can't turn free down) just to get me by till I can afford a good bike
Mtb Wheelie Nut only good bike I have I don't want to take to a skate park because of both sentimental value and actual value of the bike. It's a vintage Mongoose from back when they were good bike with all original parts including bearings
Not on his real BMX bike. It's all the way down, and the frame is really low, which makes it easier to do tailwhips. Look up CF3BMX to see his BMX channel.
Bro tell me why all my homies got these expensive ass bikes but I got one from Walmart it’s like bright green I took the stickers and there’s is like the Toyota Supra of bikes.
Okay so I know what the best treatment for this by chance because I beat on mine and it hasn't broken it's for trail riding not mountain bike trails by day public Trail it's fine and small pump track it'll be fine for that yeah I've had mine for two years I do believe now I've only broken the brake handles those things are weak
Well think about this... If some guy in California can do some super bike tricks on his 2000 thousand dollar light bike we must be better ..we can do the tricks and not break our bike.
+hoohoohoblin I have the same bike and it's true I went to downtown and rode through a crowd and started to swerve people and lost control and ate shit good time s!
hmmm, So i just bought my 8YO. a razor bike. It as 110. When you consider that price, still dirt cheap. I should take it back and buy this one... because the bike isn't an iPad and wont command his attention. how many bikes has the clown fart gone through to this point and what is the investment so far?
His first bike was around $250, and it wasn't very good. He wore every part of it out. We spent too much money on parts, like cranks and sealed bearings, and then replaced the frame, so there wasn't much of the original bike left. Then someone stole it. His current bike is a Fit WiFi, which was $350 on Craigslist used. He wore out the wheels and replaced the crank, and Santa is going to bring him a new frame for Christmas. He's pretty hard on bikes, though. A kid could ride a bike like this WalMart bike to school for years before anything breaks. My son does big jumps and backflips on concrete, so he needs a stronger bike.
You basically showed us everything we learned at the store. We know what pegs are for. We know what brakes are for. We know what a seat is for. Do a real review after a a few months of riding on the darn thing and you will highly recommend people to not even consider the Kent brand. They are not meant to last. Our kids is about a year old still looks really nice. However the rear hub broke into pieces and the kickstand spring assembly is garbage.
+JD Weaver bugs don’t get much cheaper than this one. I guess it would be OK for kids to ride around neighborhood a little bit, but I’m not surprised that it fell apart. My son took it to the BMX bike park and it took a pretty good beating and kept rolling, except for the handlebars falling off. We had to JB weld them in place. Still, for a kid who doesn’t have a lot of money, this is a way to get started and BMX. I’d recommend most kids not pay less than $300 for an entry-level BMX bike if They can afford it. Here is a video my son made on the bike, jumping it and tail whipping it in a game of b.i.k.e. ua-cam.com/video/GfqXWTcNA0I/v-deo.html
My friend put this bike together for his son and before I knew it he was done ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L When the son came to put it together he was surprised to see it was already done. All he had to do was take the bike to get air and be on his way. My friend did not have any major problems putting this bike together; small issue was putting one of the brakes on straight; however when the son got home he was able to fix it. The bike rides well gears move correctly; good bike for the price. Wrote review after the son took the bike. Sorry.
That’s what we did. In most cases, the kid will ride around for a couple of weeks and get tired of it, but if they really love BMX and start learning tricks, they will break this bike pretty fast, and you can buy them a real one.
I need some help. Im 15 and i havent rlly been into biking. My parents gave me a 100$ budget for them to pay and id have to pay the rest and i have 250$ in my wallet. I dont wanna buy something super expensive just in case i end up not liking it as much as i thought i would. Im also canadian so its hard to find cheap used ones on ebay. I feel like a bike for 150$ would be pretty good but from all ive seen its either you spend 350$ for a high quality bmx or you end up buying a garbage walmart one. Is there any way i can get a beginner bmx bike for a price of 150$? Like i would get a used one but there either canadian and cost 300$ or there american and cost cheap but the shipping between usa to canada is like another 120$. So is there any entry level bikes that are about 150$ that arent complete garbage. It would be awesome if u have any ideas for me!
+Sirpugsalot_UA-cam that is a difficult question. $450, the bike would be pretty basic. I don't know who the big BMX stores in Canada are, but it would be worthwhile for you to search around on the Internet to see if you can find a Canadian bike shop. Walmart bikes are going to be pretty low quality, but they might have one between $100 and I had $50 that is OK. This one is pretty good for the price.
+Sirpugsalot_UA-cam Someone suggested the Mongoose 720, which is between $150 and $200 at Walmart. They say it is better quality than the cheaper bikes.
check out the mongoose 720. i am 44. huge. and i guarantee that i can ride that mongoose 720 and do all my tricks that i do on a nicer bike. see my new bmx video called rad bmx tribute. i am huge and i ride. if you are gonna test a dept store bike. you cant use a 70 dollar one. this is for a child for a disposable bike. one year tops. go to walmart spend 180 dollars and you will have a bike that comes with the same parts as a 350 dollar fit bike. as i know i got a fit that is at that price point. etc
+MOUNTAINOUS thanks. I know that there are kids watching this video and reading the comments, looking for a good quality bike in that price range. I hope this helps them.
i plan on getting one for fun. i just got back from mt biking in the mt hood national forest where i live. the giant volcano. i bought a 150 dollar full suspension mt bike and i worked at a bike shop before and can true wheels etc. so i got a mongoose full suspension ravage and i am riding it in trails in my videos alot this summer. it is doing great. i love it. i tuned it up hardcare when i got it and now it is doing good. just wanting to see what it can do. i have 2 nice bmx bikes and one cheap mt bike. i been bmxing for my whole life and i did a wild bmx video called rad bmx a tribute to cru jones. doing all kinds of wild tricks. i remade the intro to the movie rad basically. some cheap bikes are good for a entry level rider. or someone with not much money. but not this cheap one in this video. but 150 to 200 is doable. my white fit bike was 330 dollars and i have had it for a few years. i do tons of tricks on it and i am 6'3 and 350 pounds and i show in my video it can handle me doing 180 bunnyhops off stuff etc.
Honestly I'm 14 and I bought a 70 dollar bike from Walmart I rode it til the brakes collapsed and ripped all the brakes off it and let it sit for about 2 years then I decided to put it back together (brakeless) and then I let it sit another couple months then I actually learned how to work with bikes fixed it up got some new parts and a front brake and it works fine for me and I beat on it pretty hard so honestly Walmart bikes aren't that bad unless you ride daily at the park and ride super hard

haha I have this bike it’s my brothers and my friend jumped off a 2 foot high jump and the bars bent backwards
That is definitely a problem with this bike. We JB Welded the handlebars on.

I have that bike for Christmas 🎄
Have fun with it.
Nice
Thanks for the sandpaper advice. Have the same problem with the handlebars on my son's bike I bought a year ago. Guess it wasn't important enough to address at the factory by now.
I just saw the Kent ambush at Walmart this week, and it’s exactly the same design. It costs $20 more now.
Just for riding around the block for a 8 year old should be good? Just bought it last minute online

A vid on this please (or it didn't happen!)
Dude I can’t believe I’m saying this but Walmart bmx bike frames are actually damn well good for intermediate and beginner
This really is a decent bike for the money. It works pretty well, and most kids who don’t jump too high or hammer it too hard will do great on it.
If you need money for a bmx then CSL plasma is a good place to get some 💰 money
I’ve had this for almost 2 years now!
It is a good bike for the money. It can take a beating too

It really was a good entry-level BMX bike at that price point.
I bought this bike 4 years ago and itd dtill going strong. The tires have been bald for a long time
It’s a good bike. Can’t handle extreme thrashing, but it will last forever if you ride it like a normal person.
That’s a Front Peg BMX
mine didn't come with the chain guard. sometimes i do jump tricks the chain somehow flies off-
I bought a bike at Walmart for $40 it was good it lasted 2 years 1/2

I've had that same bike for 4 years and it's a good bike
Yes. It is a great value for the money.
Yeah cant believe you respond to me thanks
I'm getting mine today!!!!!!!! June 13 2019
It is a good beginner bike. Watch out for the handlebars coming loose.
That’s my birthday
That thing is 50lbs, pretty good for the price,
Not easy to do tricks with, tires will rip after some time around its walls
Yeah. It’s not a great bike for actual BMX riding, but if a kid wants to get one cheap to see if he likes BMX, and then get a real bike later, it’s good for that.
Those endos are dope
Thanks.

i have that bike, idk why people hate on walmart bikes they seem fine to me

I'm trying to take the whole fork off,but can't bc the damn welds :/
Ive had mine for about 2 weeks or so and my bike is acting up if i stop peddling the bike would make noise and when i try again it won't work till i peddle 3 or more times dyk why?
Because there’s a Walmart bike and you shouldn’t be buying those pieces of trash anyways

Would this be good for a 12 year old?
+Where lui at Yes. It is an ok beginners bike. If he is going to do any big jumps, he will need a stronger bike.
Where lui at yes I just got one today and I'm 10 and fits ferfect
Where lui at I was doing some jumps. Takes it very well
Yes, its a very good bike. Had it about two years now, holds up very well.
Where lui at do not ever get a Wal-Mart bike EVER
I know I’m late to the video but can you explain how I could get pegs on my back for the ambush bike?
You should be able to just buy some foot pegs and put them on there. You will need a deep socket to get the wheel nut on.
to tell the truth it is possible to find a good wamart bike! i have a dk the machine which has been through hell and back and the only things that i actually broke were the front wheel and the headset but i got those replaced and then got forks bars and a sunday stwm from my friend
How do u get it
That bike is in great condition because I have that bike
I have this bike too!!
I have the hyperbike Mike spinner pro model is that good I was thinking about getting better parts on it
+Sodapop go to the Walmart website and read the reviews. It gets four out of five stars. It looks like a decent beginner bike, but I would recommend learning how to ride on it, and then upgrading to a really good BMX bike in the future rather than upgrading parts on this frame. A better BMX bike would be lighter and stronger than this one, and it would have sealed bearings on the crank and headset.
hoohoohoblin is 200$ a good bmx bc I am a kid and can't get money easy
I bought one and took it to the skatepark, the stem literally ended up bending because I landed kinda rough on a ramp. Isn't really worth upgrading.
Nice video man ! Great style !
I'm riding BMX and making videos too 😀.
You should keep it up !
Thanks. I used to do a lot of BMX videos when my son was littler, but then he got his own channel. Check out the CF3BMX channel on UA-cam.
Do you need to be able to lift your own body weight when you wheelie on these bikes because I’m weak
You can probably do it if you lean backwards and pedal hard forwards.
the brakes on that thing my suck my nipple i almost died
That’s why I took both brakes off. I actually feel more in control now for some reason
Does your son have his saddle all the way up?
I have the same bmx bike it is really good for beginners I recommend
It’s a good value.
What was the orange bike?
It's a Total Hangover frame with a bunch of custom parts. The frame is super low, so it is good for doing tailwhips.
Well think about this...
If some guy in California can do some super bike tricks on his 2000 thousand dollar light bike we must be better ..we can do the tricks and not break our bike.
I have this bike lol
It’s a good bike.
Yeah
I have that bike the handles move like crazy
+King Voltage We had the same problem. I JB welded them in place. ua-cam.com/video/Sh4ecWHxHgc/v-deo.html
+hoohoohoblin I have the same bike and it's true I went to downtown and rode through a crowd and started to swerve people and lost control and ate shit good time s!
Is this bike good for teenagers 5-5 to 5-7 in height ?
Yes.
Is a redline bmx bike any good for starters ??
+BREEZY GAMING They are a good brand. Not sure how good their really cheap models are, but I bet they are ok for learning.
Isn't that bike made from aluminum tho?
hmmm, So i just bought my 8YO. a razor bike.
I’m sitting on that same bike as we speak
Be honest how long did it last?
The bike is lowkey fire
It really is a good value for the money.
How much is the weld
+King Voltage $5 or $6 at Home Depot.
Do the Genesis Bike plz
Hmm where can u get it in Singapore?
I don't know. I don't think they have WalMart there yet, but someday they will.
hoohoohoblin ok
My friend put this bike together for his son and before I knew it he was done ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L When the son came to put it together he was surprised to see it was already done. All he had to do was take the bike to get air and be on his way. My friend did not have any major problems putting this bike together; small issue was putting one of the brakes on straight; however when the son got home he was able to fix it. The bike rides well gears move correctly; good bike for the price. Wrote review after the son took the bike. Sorry.
This bmx 20"?
Yes
I have that one it’s really good
It is a good bike for the money, for sure.
Get the Walmart Bike first, see if your kids like BMX, if they do then get a better bike down the road.
They say it is better quality than the cheaper bikes.
ight dude thanks alot!!! :D
If i were you i would get a used complete.
Is cf3 his son
+Its cam Yes, he is. He and his friends made a couple of videos about this Walmart bike. They beat the hell out of it.
I got this same bike.....for 10 dollars!
check out the mongoose 720. i am 44. huge. and i guarantee that i can ride that mongoose 720 and do all my tricks that i do on a nicer bike. see my new bmx video called rad bmx tribute. i am huge and i ride. if you are gonna test a dept store bike. you cant use a 70 dollar one. this is for a child for a disposable bike. one year tops. go to walmart spend 180 dollars and you will have a bike that comes with the same parts as a 350 dollar fit bike. as i know i got a fit that is at that price point.
I know this skatepark! It’s Alondra skatepark.
Correct!
I got it for 88 dollars
360 hop off a trailer with this bike and it's done!
I had that bike before
I have that bike I do wheelies around the block
Andrew Orosco do you have to life your own body weight to wheelie
I have this bike🤣
I have one
THE BOSSJK Me too
Lol that was my first bmx!
I got one like that
I just got that bike
Have fun with it. This is a good beginner BMX bike.
I bought a $5 bmx bike at a garage sale
+Reece Schmit that is the best deal ever. You can find out if you like riding it, and then buy a professional model if you do.
Lol then it's pretty crappy because the owners probably beat it up then sold it
Dang, well the one I just bought my son was 88.99.. lol Oh well. :)
Inflation!!! It’s still a good deal at that price.
@@hoohoohoblin yea, It was definitely worth it. He loves it! My apologies btw, I forgot to mention that this was an awesome video! :)
my first bmx was a cheap dicks bike it had three peace cranks decent grips and many upgrades and it was still only 200$
The price of an OK BMX bike has come down in the last few years, as BMX has become more popular.
wait cant you just buy a smaller crank sprocket so it goes faster
Ccbs R.c. Nope. the smaller the front sprocket is the slower u go.
Fuck UA-cam ads. I’m trying to check this bike out but all these fucking ads keep popping up
But I have the bike
