One of the reasons I love Johnny so much is that he reminds me of my grandpa. This is extremely hard to watch just like it was seeing my grandad in the hospital for the last time but they both gave it their all to the end. There are no words for much love and respect I have for this man.

Omigosh! I was in the audience that evening! The only time I ever heard Johnny Cash live. This performance was never advertised except by "Appalachian telegraph" and the place was PACKED. You could just feel the love exuding from the audience that night, and I felt truly blessed to have been in attendance. Thanks for posting this & bringing back a a fond memory!

This video is so inspiring, he was in a great deal of pain, yet he's still performing, that's pure courage and class.
And the way he loved June, well I've no words for that.
Rest in Peace to them both
    Thanks for sharing this

What a touching and saddening video. It shows the true character of a musical legend and his dedication to his wife.

Despite a dry throught he was still able to perform like a professional despite his age and shaking in his limbs. His love and inspiration from his wife shows so well hear as his love of his admirers.

one of the best most real artists ever! I loved his music all my life after hearing time for the first time when I was 5 or six on vinyl. I'd make my mom play boy named sue over and over. This was around '72 or 73 I think.

Conocí a Johnny Cash por su cover de Hurt, y me encantó cómo con su voz hacía contraste perfecto con la tristeza de la melodía. Oh sí, cuando MTV era bueno.

I'll probably never make it to the "Carter Fold" where this was filmed, but I feel I got to be a part of something very special here because you took the time and effort to share this with us, and I thank you for that. The legendary Carter Family (A.P., Sara and Maybelle), Johnny and June, they WERE country music. Today's young artists could learn a few things from them. God bless you for posting! MoJoPiano

He's such an old man in this. I wanna say it's sad in one way, but it makes me happy seeing this old man playing the music so many people love to listen to. It's great how the crowd was treating him too. He lived a hell of a life and it's amazing how much he loved June. True dedication and loyalty. Something almost impossible to see now a days.

Man, what a legend. I saw Johnny when I was about 12 years old at the Grand Ole Opry. My Dad kept excitedly exclaiming: "That's Johnny Cash!" Sadly, I didn't realize the importance of the moment at the time. I'm 23 now, and am a HUGE fan of Cash. The American recordings are so incredible. Can't wait for American VI!

In every song of Johhny you can find something sad that strangely makes you remember the good things in life. I discovered his music in my 30's and only now i can understand it. It is absolutely fantastic, every song is a statement about how a man should be a man in this life. Just try and sing any of his songs and pay attention to what mood this will give you, this is the way to understand his music, sing it and than feel it. You'l see i am right.
Rest in peace man, you walked ALL your line

At the core of my heart lies a die hard punk fan. But seldom does anything get me as choked up as this video has made me. Cash has a way of bringing country to life with his powerfull lyrics and deep somber voice. June wrote him the greatest song he ever sang too. I love Ring of Fire, and I have since I could first remember.

When he talked about June, I almost cried. They were both such inspiratonal people, Johnny is such a hero to so many, This video is a truly amazing memory of quite possibly the greatest artist of the 20th century, even though his voice is tired, his body aged and his heart crushed from the loss of his beloved June he fights on in her memory. R.I.P Johnny Cash you are a true legend.

i was there and it was the one of the most moving events i have ever seen. his passion for the music, his wife and the crowd was still intact even as his body failed him. it was such a special wonderful thing to witness. as he left, it was almost surreal to walk beside his mercedes as he was driven away on a one-lane road in the valley of the mountains. johnny was so real...

I went to a GWAR concert a couple months back, and they had a bunch heavy metal bands go on before them. Yet when it came time for people to wait for their set, what did they choose to play during set up time? Johnny Cash's greatest hits. About 15 songs from "I walk the line" to "Jackson" all the way to "Hurt". And wouldn't you know it every single person in that room sang every single word to every song. To this day, I've never seen or heard anything as powerful as that nite. Thank you, Johnny.

I was raised listening to Johnny Cash since about age 6. I saw him in concert twice. He had not been well before June died, but when he lost his great love,I think part of him died with her. The sadness can be heard in his voice and seen in his face.
Love you and miss you Johnny Cash... you were and will always be one of the best entertainers the world has ever known.
