One of the reasons I love Johnny so much is that he reminds me of my grandpa. This is extremely hard to watch just like it was seeing my grandad in the hospital for the last time but they both gave it their all to the end. There are no words for much love and respect I have for this man.
Omigosh! I was in the audience that evening! The only time I ever heard Johnny Cash live. This performance was never advertised except by "Appalachian telegraph" and the place was PACKED. You could just feel the love exuding from the audience that night, and I felt truly blessed to have been in attendance. Thanks for posting this & bringing back a a fond memory!
This video is so inspiring, he was in a great deal of pain, yet he's still performing, that's pure courage and class. And the way he loved June, well I've no words for that. Rest in Peace to them both Thanks for sharing this
I´ve always been loving Johnny Cash.. He´s voice express such deep feelings, not even possible on paper. He lived for the music and I adore him so much for that. R.I.P Johnny Cash
Despite a dry throught he was still able to perform like a professional despite his age and shaking in his limbs. His love and inspiration from his wife shows so well hear as his love of his admirers.
You you can't say many people (to my knowledge) but johnny cash literally performed till the day he passed away at a ripe old age. And even then he still performs in the great bog stage in the sky
one of the best most real artists ever! I loved his music all my life after hearing time for the first time when I was 5 or six on vinyl. I'd make my mom play boy named sue over and over. This was around '72 or 73 I think.
Conocí a Johnny Cash por su cover de Hurt, y me encantó cómo con su voz hacía contraste perfecto con la tristeza de la melodía. Oh sí, cuando MTV era bueno. Desde Veracruz, México.
R.I.P John, This Fan still loves and misses you and June. I grew up in Loisiana and my family brought me up on this music....There is no better. Fuck Elvis .... John is king and this video proves it. Ill and older than other musicians even half as good and still playing. Love you John.
I can't put into words how Big John Cash changed my life, he is a true hero, and I miss his charm and wit and everything about him. I wake up everyday and play his wonderful songs on my guitar. Each and every time I want to cry. Until today I thought Id never see this video again, thank you whoever you are for bringing it to us. Im sure The Man in Black thanks you too!
As a huge Johnny Fan, I just don,t understand the mean postings here about Johnny. He was the best, and such a wonderful person. Always thinking of the weak People in our society.
Being a musician myself this man has inspired me deeper than any other artist, this video truly touched my heart, i will pass your music onto my family and children, Your still the greatest man in black!
I can't thank you enough for filming and posting this historic event. I'll probably never make it to the "Carter Fold" where this was filmed, but I feel I got to be a part of something very special here because you took the time and effort to share this with us, and I thank you for that. The legendary Carter Family (A.P., Sara and Maybelle), Johnny and June, they WERE country music. Today's young artists could learn a few things from them. God bless you for posting! MoJoPiano
He's such an old man in this. I wanna say it's sad in one way, but it makes me happy seeing this old man playing the music so many people love to listen to. It's great how the crowd was treating him too. He lived a hell of a life and it's amazing how much he loved June. True dedication and loyalty. Something almost impossible to see now a days.
I have listened to this man since I was 4 years old. He's the first artist I remember listening to and remembering.I will always remember and love Johnny Cash.I listen to him almost everyday and remember me,and my Dad listening to him together.Thank God for Johnny Cash and all the fond memories he has given me.God Bless
Man, what a legend. I saw Johnny when I was about 12 years old at the Grand Ole Opry. My Dad kept excitedly exclaiming: "That's Johnny Cash!" Sadly, I didn't realize the importance of the moment at the time. I'm 23 now, and am a HUGE fan of Cash. The American recordings are so incredible. Can't wait for American VI!
This video brought tears to my eyes. Seeing Johnny so fragile, only two months after June passed away, and also only two months before he would go himself. May they rest in eternal peace. Thanks for posting.
This video is so touching..I love Johnny Cash! My parents used to listen to him a long time ago..I'm 29 now but his music is so touching, we still listen to him all the time...this video made me cry..I'm so sad..but he is an Awesome Person, and My dream was to meet him, it didn't happen yet, but in heaven, I'm looking for Johnny Cash! thanks for all the great music. Thank you so much for sharing this video. It's such a blessing to be able to see Johnny, one of our greatest, in this informal setting. Johnny and June, we miss you!
I can still remember the day the best singer in the world passed away, I went to see my dad and he met me with open arms and a tear on his cheek. We both wept and went to have a beer and remember our hero. Ive lost two heros now my dad and john but seeing this clip makes me keep on trucking. Still love ya john love from Australia xxxxxxx
In every song of Johhny you can find something sad that strangely makes you remember the good things in life. I discovered his music in my 30's and only now i can understand it. It is absolutely fantastic, every song is a statement about how a man should be a man in this life. Just try and sing any of his songs and pay attention to what mood this will give you, this is the way to understand his music, sing it and than feel it. You'l see i am right. Rest in peace man, you walked ALL your line
Johnny Cash is seriously my idol. I've watched everything on him. This video just made me think of the brevity of life and how it goes so fast. It also made me think, I really hope I have had as fulfilling and impactful of a life as Johnny when I am at this point in my life. I love you Johnny.
johnny cash really is a country legend. i am 20 years old and his music is like none other that ive heard. i hope that all of you agree with me when i say heres to Johnny Cash. RIP Johnny cash God bless and God speed
At the core of my heart lies a die hard punk fan. But seldom does anything get me as choked up as this video has made me. Cash has a way of bringing country to life with his powerfull lyrics and deep somber voice. June wrote him the greatest song he ever sang too. I love Ring of Fire, and I have since I could first remember.
This was the greatest man of music of all time. Johnny was my man when I was a 4 year old kid. Because of him I play the guitar today. Love Johnny and miss you. What a man!
When he talked about June, I almost cried. They were both such inspiratonal people, Johnny is such a hero to so many, This video is a truly amazing memory of quite possibly the greatest artist of the 20th century, even though his voice is tired, his body aged and his heart crushed from the loss of his beloved June he fights on in her memory. R.I.P Johnny Cash you are a true legend.
i was there and it was the one of the most moving events i have ever seen. his passion for the music, his wife and the crowd was still intact even as his body failed him. it was such a special wonderful thing to witness. as he left, it was almost surreal to walk beside his mercedes as he was driven away on a one-lane road in the valley of the mountains. johnny was so real...
This made me cry. Ten weeks before he died, and he may have looked old and frail, but he still had a voice that could touch the soul. I miss Johnny Cash. Rest in Peace, J.R.
I am very glad to get to see this. Thanks to the poster. Johnny was my 5th Cousin, if you count such things. He was a great man, and will be missed greatly by the family. Well, Heaven has a great Country Band now. LOL
Notice NO ONE has anything negative/bad to say about THIS Johnny. He is watching over our mother's & fathers that are no longer here. May he and his GREAT legend ALWAYS RIP! TY for the post. He is one of God's Angels & I assure you if you/we/I make it to HEAVEN...he will be there to greet us all!
I went to a GWAR concert a couple months back, and they had a bunch heavy metal bands go on before them. Yet when it came time for people to wait for their set, what did they choose to play during set up time? Johnny Cash's greatest hits. About 15 songs from "I walk the line" to "Jackson" all the way to "Hurt". And wouldn't you know it every single person in that room sang every single word to every song. To this day, I've never seen or heard anything as powerful as that nite. Thank you, Johnny.
Thanx for Your Time, and for Sharing This With Us!!!!!!!!!!!!it's Beautiful!!!-Apache's-Apache Terr.,Sky p.s.Johhny Cash,June and Tupac Shakur are the only Artists That brought me to Tears when They left Us-God Bless Them, and All the OTHERS-ThanKs SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!
I was raised listening to Johnny Cash since about age 6. I saw him in concert twice. He had not been well before June died, but when he lost his great love,I think part of him died with her. The sadness can be heard in his voice and seen in his face. Love you and miss you Johnny Cash... you were and will always be one of the best entertainers the world has ever known. So sad to watch this. -Marion Lindsay
Thank you for this! This was so sweet. You can tell this was really hard on Johny. But he did it for us. He loved music and people. He's up in Heaven singing with the Angels and I'm looking forward into meeting him one day.
Sad. I saw Johnny and June about 20 years before this when he appeared in Scranton, PA, a week after he guested on Saturday Night Live. Johnny's piano player noticed me drilling my finger into my face the way he did on SNL, so he whispered to Johnny and Johnny started doing it. Loved it! RIP both of you!
I just love his music. So much feeling in his voice and music. Too bad i haven't realised it just until recently, has a lot of catching up to do! R.I.P Johnny.
I cannot say it again and again, this man is a legend, and he was a living legend also. I still miss him very much. Mr Cash, you are the best I ever seen !!!
i feel so bad for him here, just lost June and he sounds so heartbroken when he sings, this man was a legend and is irreplaceable. RIP brother Johnny!!!
I could be wrong but when he sings about June his voice sounds sad and full of melancholy, makes me choke each and everytime I listen to it. his unchallenged grace and talent will forever be remembered...
Johnny Cash is so dedicated to his wife, music and fans It brings a tear to my eye ! I wish I had his strength and determination as a human ! Rest In Peace Johnny !
No-one will ever be able to touch people through music like Mr Cash did, even in just a video clip he can really put through emotion, this must have been amazing for the people who were actually there.
Thanks for sharing this precious memory. I cannot believe the audacity and disrespect of all the people walking around! Did they not realise the importance of this performance?!?
Although Johnny was obviously very ill , you could see in his eyes that he was having a ball singing his songs for that small audiance. His joy was especially obvious when he sang RING OF FIRE ....with the audiance clapping along and the trade mark thump of the electric guitar in the background. This living legend went out with class ! RIP Man In Black !
Hey all that man was good. When I was a kid I grabbed on of my grandmother's records with J.C. My favorite song is "Life goes on" 1960. Can't find it many places, but it exists. Thanks Johnny for the great music growing up.
One of the reasons I love Johnny so much is that he reminds me of my grandpa. This is extremely hard to watch just like it was seeing my grandad in the hospital for the last time but they both gave it their all to the end. There are no words for much love and respect I have for this man.

I´ve always been loving Johnny Cash.. He´s voice express such deep feelings, not even possible on paper. He lived for the music and I adore him so much for that. R.I.P Johnny Cash
Two of the greatest songs ever written and performed. This man was and still is incredible.
He was old, he was sick, and he still gave his all...God bless you, Johnny!
The history of this man is amazing, and it will always be. Thank you for putting this video up! RIP Johnny!
What a touching and saddening video. It shows the true character of a musical legend and his dedication to his wife.
Despite a dry throught he was still able to perform like a professional despite his age and shaking in his limbs. His love and inspiration from his wife shows so well hear as his love of his admirers.
An incredible effort of will. Johnny looks clearly in physical pain. Heroic work.
I like other styles of music better but no denying, this guy walks into any room with any iconic historical figure in that room he OWNS that room.
been a fan since the beginning. loved him then, love him now.

We are lucky to have them.

Sad. I saw Johnny and June about 20 years before this when he appeared in Scranton, PA, a week after he guested on Saturday Night Live. Oh wow! My liking for this man has increased even more. May the Gods bless the Man in Black!
RIP Man In Black !
i have tears in my eyes when i watch this. a true american hero. you wont be forgotten buddy =]
Hey all that man was good. When I was a kid I grabbed on of my grandmother's records with J.C. My favorite song is "Life goes on" 1960. Can't find it many places, but it exists. Thanks Johnny for the great music growing up.
