0:00 - Is the impossibility of fighting Emperor Ing / DS 3&4 first due to the need for Dark Visor to load certain Sky Temple keys? 27:30 - Whoa, the Screw Attack can break through there / deactivate the barrier? 50:59 - What causes the water state to unload here (is it a different method than what happens at 43:10)? 1:01:55 - Does Samus' model not load in this cutscene because you're not meant to have the Dark Suit yet (or is this cutscene hard-coded to only display Varia Suit Samus)? 1:03:39 - Is that a hidden death animation for Jump Guardian (since you're not supposed to have light beam) or is that just the same one used from Warrior Ing?
1) yes, You need Dark Visor for the Keys and do get Dark Visor you need to defeat Chyyka. Also you beat the game after the Final bosses, so you can't defeat the previous ones. 2) Screw Attack activates the Dark Beam crystals. it also works with the crystals in the pirate base in Agon 3) yes, morphing the frame you enter a water box disables most of the water properties. it works in both dark- and normal water and is called the "Air Underwater" state in the Speedrun/Randomizer community. 4) this is a though one and I'm not sure whats the answer to this question since the model doesn't spawn sometimes when you have Varia Suit as well. I assume that the cutscene does only play properly when you have Both Varia and Power Beam active. 5) there is no death animation for Jump Guardian when being burnt, so the game despawns the main-model and uses the standard burning to death outline whenever you defeat an enemy with Light Beam
@@MaskedTAS thanks for the replies! Awesome TAS by the way. Also, would it at all be possible to wallcrawl out of the DS 3/4 fight back to the light portal as a proof of concept or does the game put you in a state that is impossible to change back from? And as for the cutscene - is it maybe position based on where Samus enters the cutscene trigger?
I think it's only an anti-matter of time now. When it'll be echoed that Prime 2 Resemblance is on its Sacred Path to the switch, you will easily quadraxuple your dark visitors! After all, we all live in a Grand -Wind-- echo-chamber. When the time comes, meet me at this Assembly Site, since we don't have a Gathering Hall.
at 23:00 I'm entering a Cannon in the room Watch Station while the game thinks I'm in Central Area Transport West. Unloading Watch Station while being shot out of the Cannon allows me to keep the 'Cannon Ball' state, which has three distinct properties: - Total invulnerability while in Morph Ball - An aura around the Morph Ball that deals 500,000 damage per frame, which allows me to Insta-Kill some enemies, most noticeably the second phase of Chykka. This aura is also capable of activating certain doors that were previously locked (though it cannot unlock currently locked doors) without needing to use a weapon against them - Allows Samus to boost, even if she doesn't already have Boost Ball (not Important for this run since I keep Boost Ball at the beginning of the game)
Entering the dark water when the fight starts (when shooting the targets of the cocoon) gives you a 'floaty' effect when jumping. You lose floaty when entering dark or normal water again or leave torvus. This glitch doesn't work in Japanese and trilogy version.
@GKOYG_and_KAAF_is_epic yeah, one thing that the game doesn't tell you is that dark Samus isn't a darkling, so she take extra damage from dark beam Forgot to mention that I was talking about darklings and not all bosses as a whole
The game seems to have no idea what's going on. You don't even have the energy transfer module but it acts like you do. I assume because it's impossible under normal play to even get to the templates without it, so it never actually checks to make sure you have it. I'm surprised the bomb guardian has an animation for being killed by a power bomb.
The energy transfer module is the most useless pickup in the game. It's a filler item which does nothing, it doesn't even give you an extra percentage for your item counter.
@@MaskedTAS Yeah...I see that now. As far as the game's actual code that is. Lore-wise it keeps the Ing from possessing you, and enables you to handle the energy from the controllers. Samus's suit isn't supposed to be able to do that without the module. But that's just the lore...in the code they didn't bother to make the module actually do anything.
I pause buffer to make the next room load slower. if Torvus temple is loaded, there is a barrier in front of the door and by making it load later I can clip through the barrier by using screw attack

This is honestly the most remarkable thing I've seen done in a Prime 2 TAS. Not only to see it done, but maximally optimized... kudos.
I just saw this and my jaw was dropped for pretty much the whole video
Dark Samus: oh God... did I take her sanity too or something?
Screw attack damaging bosses is such a hilarious oversight

Between this game and Super, there's no shortages of RBO in the Metroid Series.
And boy do I love sequence breaking.

Some of those boost jumps were absolutely spectacular. I’m still in awe 😮
