Your right I'm a 100% manual guy and i sold VW's for a year but i will say VW's DSG or really any Dual Clutch transmissions are AWESOME! Once it becomes too much work to find a car with a manual i won't be sad one bit to switch to a Dual Clutch.
Christopher Chan You must be proud to say you can drive a manual. The DSG in these cars is incredible, and the better transmission. For daily driving there really is nothing better, and you get the ability to shift as fast as supercars. Ill be getting a DSG in the spring
You don't have to have a manual to be a car enthusiast. A lot of people opt in for DSG because less of an inconvenience if you live in the city, lastly if someone else drives your car.
Drive automatic for years on end... Faster, farts... Means nothing.
But... To each their own.

Had a MKV for 10 years now, only major gripe has been door locks going wrong; glad I bought a two door.
To reiterate what he is trying to say in the perspective of an Actual GTI owner (since stock)
1. The Flat Bottom Steering wheel- sadly to say but what he said was spot on "it fits your hands comfortably" the buttons on it aren't that cluttered and its design is amazing resembling an Audis steering wheel
2. Transmission- I am including both because no matter what style you choose you'll love it. VW's DSG is one of the fastest transmissions out there. I personally drive Manual but the DSG is great. DSG is just there for speed (minimal advantage) but the manual set up is amazing and great for people to learn how to drive stick in. Sadly the cars come with limiters so 5th gear isn't fully there
3. Cabin- The GTI from the outside looks small, but you'll be happily surprised that it's roomy, at least on the 4 door version. Though the 2 door (3 door hatch) is more aesthetically pleasing, the 4 door is more practical even if you'll be using the hatch less.
4. Trim- great design
5. Lights- The lights he's referring to only come with the lighting package. Xenon lights that move when you turn the wheel I say this being as least biased as I can be, they are phenomenal. The Golf R comes standard with them.
6. Hatch- ITS A HATCHBACK WHAT MORE DO YOU EXPECT
7. The car- It;s lit and it's affordable

All car guys will get a manual but the dsg in the gti is amazing you can’t go wrong with either.
Your car is Literally Perfect. I wouldn't do a thing to it besides performance upgrades but the exterior/suspension and wheel setup are on point!

I'm 62, picking up my 2017 GTI-S on Thursday. I will laugh when I see the young guys pull up and want to race.
DSG = Direct Shift Gearbox. Those side lights are called "Cornering Lights". Adaptive Front Lighting is when the headlights physically turn in the direction you're steering.

I love my 2016 Golf TSI too, nice comfy interior, sound proofing is excellent even though GTI and R are even better, just knock on the exterior driver door panels and do this on other car you'll hear it right away.
I like how the top of the dash is cushionied and not hard plastic, also the steering wheel is really comfortable and leather wrap, only thing missing is heated steering wheel.
I love the motorized positioning fabric seats as I don't like leather (here it's either extremely cold during winter even with heated seats or during hot summer days it's very uncomfortable) and they are heated anyway for winter, the interior of the doors are well carpeted not hard plastic.
has great performance 1.8l turbo with 6 speed automatic with tiptronic, it handles the road really well even though not a GTI or R, great fuel economy.
the infotainment system is great with android auto or just the plain VW interface
I really like being in that fun to drive and solid car.

Those lights are called "cornering lights". The actual headlights swivel/turn a small amount with your steering wheel (adaptive).

shay hawkins if u do, go OEM only. They're expensive but well worth it for quality as well as easy as hell to sell them down the road. The replicas all seem to be flooding with water when it rains.

Legendn Progress it has a Catted downpipe but there's no spacers between the sensors so it still throws a cel
