Stephanie Trick always delivers stunning performances. An amazingly talented young woman breathing new life into some of the all time greatest music. When she and her other half play together then you get to see great showmanship too. Nice video; good to see a clear view of the keyboard from both ends: This allows us to see her keyboard skills so clearly.
Thank you Jeremy for your comments. Stephanie and Paolo are absolutely great musicians, terrific pianists and performers. They are also really nice people. Thanks to both for not minding camera on their stage.
What a wonderful discovery--beautiful music of my youth played marvelously well. They (she) make it look so easy. I love keyboard but envy their skill and finesse.
Skip to 1:45, where the music starts. No - skip to 3:04, listen to the music and look where she looks to: It's a challenging melody, played with harmonies in the right hand, but she looks - left, to the "simple" ump-ta part of the left hand. This is what makes stride, the big movements which have to be watched - the melody come by itself(?) 3:20 next part - eyes are left. Same at 3:35. But, at 3:51, the phrase creeping up gets her attention - eyes on the right hand, 60% of the time. Love that gal for her skills!!
I am a piano player myself and yes, those jumps have to be supervised :P I mean, the tricky part is also that the pinky does a kind of walking base line and the chords change every bar. The bass, so the pinky, is crucial for the whole harmony, because it is the base note. So one slip and the listener notices it at once, whereas little slips and the right hand are not that bad for the overall impression. I hope I will be able to play this song life Stephanie Trick one day. It would be the coolest thing for me :)
Hi Paul SJ - Stephanie never ceases to amaze me. There can't be too many performers whose little fingers can be so widely separated at the same moment, and with such precision. I also have been very interested in where her eyes are focused during a song, as there is so much territory to cover. I was a big fan of stride long before Stephanie was born and to me she is something of a miracle in preserving this unique style. Her grace, knowledge and audience rapport bring a lot more along with the notes being played. And I found her by accident ( like San Andreu band!) and I am so often grateful for UA-cam's introduction to me of so many fine performers.
@spassgamer I know - once played Chopin waltzes in another life ;) Lucky me is a left hander - "strong" left pinkie ;) @@dpidave OIC - common favourites! I was lucky to see both live - Stephanie in Ulm, "Jazz ladies plus two" with Nicki Parrott, me sitting at the front table, right at her feet, best view to the keyboard action - what a blast!
Excellent indeed ! Do check out the duo act, it's rare, and just as good : Handful of keys : Stephanie Trick and Paolo Alderighi ua-cam.com/video/P46xW3at0mg/v-deo.html
Never thought anyone so talented would make this style of piano playing popular again after the death of the 'Queen of the keyboard', Winifred Atwell in 1983.
Tout ce que vous rêviez de savoir concernant le"'piano Stride". Aujourd'hui Stephanie Trick figure parmi les meilleurs interprètes mondiaux du style "Stride". N.B. : " Faire la pompe" n'a rien de pompeux.
Wow, in the left video, looks like someone stuck a phone on a tripod to make a different recording -- the combination of "bringing a tripod" and "not bringing a video camera" seems incongruous to me, hehe....
There was a screen on stage, so everyone in the audience could see the hands doing their thing. That is what the incongruous camera was filming. You just don't see this screen on this video.
@@arpegepiano What's the purpose ? I don't like 4 hands on the same piano. It's a bit circus.... I Much prefered when she played 2 pianos with the formidable Rossano Sportiello .
Thank you Andrew for the clockwork. The first 1:45 consists of Stephanie Trick explaining verbally what Stride piano is all about, for whom ever may be interested.
Paul SJ - Hi, Paul SJ ! - fancy meeting you here ! I would willingly take my chances and join the queue for Stephanie's hand (both of them, in fact). She really is amazing !
Stephanie is ABSOLUTELY amazing ! !
Just like an old Country Western song says, she must know a million tunes ! 😊😊😊
Love the song and love Stephanie. I saw Stephanie live once and I had requested that she play this song and she did.
What can one say...? Absolute perfection!😊

I'm sure glad I stumbled upon this gem. Thank You, Stephanie!
Yeeeesss !!!!! Blows me away. This music is cosmic. Thank you Stephanie!
Stephanie is arguably one of the finest, if not THE finest, stride pianists in the world right now!
OK...I'm now OFFICIALLY a fan of Stephanie Trick..!!!!

C'est du grand art,bravo Stephanie !
Great piano playing...
Fantastic !
Wow....just Wow!
truly an art
National treasure! Can't make my feet stop!
Excellent...
wow! she can play Eubie too, a truly amazing talent that gives me hope for the future of stride piano!
If she can play Fats Waller, James P. Johnson or Jelly Roll Morton... among others giants... Eubie Blake should not to be a problem...
Such a pleasure to watch.
Great playing
Wonderful.
LOVE IT.
Keeping memories of Eubie alive, and making her own!
Magistral encore
I love stride Thanks
She always dresses so well.
Merci Christian Bourg d'avoir partagé ces vidéos précieuses !
Service! My pleasure! De nada!
Brilliant!
Do you know any words more than BRAVISSIMA? I
awesome!
BRILLIANT !!!!!!!
You are blessed by GOD !!!!!!!!!

Wonder if John Cleese referenced her in Fawlty Towers.
@@dmco123 Explain, please?
She is a virtuoso. And that smile.
stride Queen!
l'incrustation de la traduction est très bien venue. l'execution est top!!
Merci !
Merci !
She makes that look easy , I think I will get my bon-tempi keyboard out and give it a go lol
What kind of trick does Stephanie Trick do to play like a Goddess?
Wow!!!!!
Just amazing. Probably going to hate me for saying this, but it's like she's channeling JoAnn Castle, but without the saccharine smile and the bounce.
and Gifted by GOD as well !!!!!
W.O.W. !!!!
Holy moly.
Sounds pretty authentic to me.
super
unbeatable
Just found this gal - where the hell have I been???
That song is off-the-chain good.

i think i really like the base line..
Like an express train blowing by local stop after local stop.
wow
👍 👍 👍
Satanically wonderful!!😆☝️👹😎🤓
I don’t like it when Stephanie’s left had moves faster than the standard video rate of 30 fps.
It makes me think something supernatural is going on.
No voodoo here, just great stride piano!

The world is her oyster oh yeah
she is wonderful, and I prefer her alone at the piano. no disrespect to Paolo, she just doesn NOT need any second pianist.
A second pianist does help to play 4 hands ...

The guy introducing her is her husband.
I skipped to 1:45 Forget the talking, let's get to the performance!
Thank you Andrew for the clockwork. The first 1:45 consists of Stephanie Trick explaining verbally what Stride piano is all about, for whom ever may be interested.
I think the education of people unfamiliar with stride piano is clearly important to her, while “experts” may certainly feel free to skip to 1:45.
nopperi always full voices/~/~
Technically brilliant. But for mine, a bit heartless. Perhaps laying back on some of the notes/phrases?
He’s a joker. He knows very well what “stride piano” is.
He should do, he married her!
Ragtime should never be played fast. (Scott Joplin, the king of ragtime)
Stride versus Ragtime
Stephanie would u marry me ?
Do you think she would divorce from Paolo for you?
