    Rule No 1 in military doctrin: Hold the high ground and nothing bad can happen (Remark: forget this rule, if opponent is the Prussians)

    Love the fact that it constantly seems like the Prussians are attacking defensive positions and always seem to get the better of it 😂

      There's a reason they are called Prussian Space Marines by EU4 players. They were truly spectacular infantry.

    Nobody messes with the House of Wolfenbüttel! Also I appreciate how the Prussians would often give some high ground to the Hapsburg forces in order to give them a chance, very sporting of them. 😝😁

    Königsegg's decision to over re-enforce his right seems incredibly amateur, its almost like the mistake that a lot of new RTS players make where they hope the enemy will charge into their strongest over turtled position. He then doubled down on that mentality and made it his strong flank and yet did't launch a counter attack from that position, almost locked in his positions :S

      Given battles such as this and the, erm, whole Austerlitz thing it may be wise for the Hapsburgs to just avoid high ground completely. 😂🤣

      Daun & Laudon were pretty much like Archduke Charles, giving Frderick the Great a hard time after their predecessors scrwed up.

    I'm not certain about this, but I think the commander you identify as the Duke of Brunswick is probably the man usually called the Prince of Brunswick; his brother, then his nephew were the Dukes, and I think the Prince was a courtesy title.

    • @HoH
      @HoH  2 роки тому +2

      You're talking about Ferdinand, Prince of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel? So I've been wondering about this myself, but sources generally agree it is August Wilhelm (Duke of B.Bevern) rather than Ferdinand (Prince of B.Wolfenbuttel). But it certainly is confusing at times, good that you point it out.
      The sources are in the description if you're interested!

    After you do the European theater of the Seven years war can you do a series on the North American theater aka the French and Indian war and I am asking because this theater of war had interesting characters like George Washington, Edward Braddock, James Wolfe, The Half King, George Howe 3rd Viscount Howe oldest brother of Richard Howe 1st Earl Howe and The More Famous William Howe 5th Viscount Howe, Robert Rogers, Jeffrey Amherst, Hawkeye, Uncas, Hendrick Theyanoguin, Thomas Gage, Horatio Gates, Charles Lee, Arthur St Clair and many others on the British side of the war but on the French side of the war was other interesting characters like Louis Joseph De Montcalm, Jean Erdman Baron Dieskau, Francois Marie Le Marchand de Lignery, Francois Gaston de Levis Duke of Levis, Joesph Coulon de Jumonville, Captain Jacobs, Magua and many others.

    I don't actually understand the Austrian deployment here. The right looks like could have been bent back somewhat to use the cover of the 'ise' rockface to anchor their right -- so why didn't they do that and put some reserves on the left. I know I'm looking at it with 20/20 hindsight, but... of the two, the left looks like the one that is closer to being 'in the air.' And barely held at that!

    Braunschweig is pronounced as Bevern?

    • @HoH
      @HoH  2 роки тому +1

      It is Brunswick, not Bevern. But I understand the confusion. Frederick had two prominent generals carrying the name Brunswick (Braunschweig). Ferdinand of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel and August Wilhelm of Brunswick-Bevern. I realise the names are a bit confusing, they confused me many- a times trying to find the right Brunswick I was talking about. Hence I distinguish between them by saying Bevern and Wolfenbuttel (in other videos). Perhaps I should alter their nametags as well.

    Please make the video brighter and get rid of the dark edges to give it atmosphere. Its totally unnecessary.
    Take a hint from BazBattles or Kings& Generals channel.
    When describing the units size and info, do it while birds eye view of the battlefield and dont cut the video since it loses continuity with the narration. If the purpose is add more creativity in having Total War footage of soldiers marching. Do it once for the beginning of the battle while zooming from the birds eye view and the coming back.
