Amazing! Outstanding performance! I'm a guitarist myself, and I'm tired of the widely known repertoire. I'm looking for modern and contemporary pieces for the instrument, like this one. Can anyone enlighten me please?
Fantastic playing of a VERY difficult piece. Kudos. This wouldn't/doesn't come off without this sort of technical and interpretive mastery. I won't be learning this anytime soon...p.s. this piece is context relevant. That is, it's played at a particular moment in an opera. It's expressive of that moment. I don't know that it works that well on its own as a solo piece.
Thank you, Jeffrey! It is indeed the hardest I have ever worked to bring 3 minutes of music to life... but well worth the effort. There are some new solo guitar works by Adès that will be premiered by Sean Shibe this coming season. The guitar world anxiously awaits!
Wow, never thought I'd hear Thomas Ades on guitar! This is really good, do you know if he worked with a guitarist when writing it? I love the little glissando section! Edit, found out it was Michael Kudirka, really interesting piece!
yes I've read that Michael Kudirka helped shape the guitar part: classicalguitarmagazine.com/michael-kudirka-brings-guitar-to-a-bold-and-strange-opera-based-on-luis-bunuels-the-exterminating-angel/ thanks for listening, William!
I read it from the full Opera score. I was told that Adès himself approved of presenting the piece as a solo guitar work - I hope that one day it gets published as one!
Love love love everything about this!!!
Thanks Mr. Mibs!
Wow, what a dramatic performance. Bravo, Steve!! 👏👏👏
thanks for listening, Frank!
Wow! Great performance and wonderful piece of music!
That is a spicy meat-a-ball!
The music was not my type, but i can admit that you are a giant artist with excellent technic and nuance. Thanks for uploading.

I think these are regals in the recording, but I've since switched to paragons and prefer them. carbon + Boutin = love
Wonderful little piece and performance! Where did you get the sheet music?

The great thing about this kind of music is that you can make any shit up and it doesn’t require any talent whatsoever
No es así, requiere recorrer un camino largo de preparación y llegar al entendimiento del signo musical como escritura que crea un nuevo lenguaje.
It’s one of the most difficult pieces I’ve ever tackled. Right up there with Berio’s Sequenza XI, although much shorter.
