- Optics are infiltrating the market, and being found on the most common place firearms. Taking you out of the equation (an imperfect shooter), can make even the worst shot look like a professional!

I have one on my Echelon, I used the pin set 2 and it worked fine. I did have the screw issue and was bottoming out and would not allow the extractor to work, I pulled the screw out and removed the extractor pin/screw and could see the screw in the channel after I reinstalled it. I removed the screw and shaved it down until it no longer was in the extractor channel and torqued the screw to the proper torque, reinstalled my extractor pin/spring. Run the gun just fine with no issues and no gaps seeing light through the bottom of the optic/slide. Have several hundred rounds through it since I installed and have no issues with it coming loose or holding zero.
There was no literal way that pin set 2 was going to work for me. I don’t know if holosun had issues with some being bigger than others or what. It’s commonly accepted that you have to used pin set 3 rears and pin set 2 fronts but my front wouldn’t set completely flush. The only way I could get it to set completely flush front to back was to use pin set 3 and torque to 15 pounds and believe me I tried several times. It’s crazy. Also, I can tell you from experience that ANY and I mean any light at any angle showing puts undue pressure on the lugs and I had one that a tiny little light shown through but only at a certain angle and it sheared the screws off. Some people say there’s no light but if you tilt to different angles sometimes you can see light which means the lugs and screws are absorbing most of the linear recoil instead of getting some slide support.
I watched that other video, and tried their approach. however had to keep zeroing and didn't know why up until I watched this video. after disassembling the striker I did feel something stuck around the Striker Spring. so I followed your advice and Filed the Right screw. however that gap in the back still showed (you can see light between the red dot and slide). so I used Pin set 2 (up front) and the Pint set 3 (in the back) et voila! it all worked with a bit of blue thread lock and I've been shooting smoothly ever since.
Man I’m super glad to hear that man glad the video help you out. Please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Holosun's provided screws and 1 minute per screw on a fine hand file made my two SCS 320 optics seamlessly (no light gap) mate with the Echelons they top. Very happy with the performance of the whole package.
Happy to hear you had a good experience! Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven’t already
I just went through this process on the Springfield Armory Echelon last night. But, with a different twist. I bought a new Vortex Defender ST red dot sight and Vortex with the Defender series sends a lot of separate sized screws in bags labeled for specific pistol brands and models. But, they didn't specifically, on the bags, call out the SA Echelon. I Googled the question of which Vortex Defender ST screw set to use for an Echelon pistol. The answer was the Vortex Screws M4 X 0.7, 9.8 mm length for the Springfield Armory XDM5.25 OSP (XDM OSP models). I used the SA Echelon Pin Set 2 (front and rear pins) for the Leupold Delta Point Pro foot print and the Vortex Defender-ST included M4 X 0.7, 9.8 mm length mounting screws. Torqued to about 12 inch-pounds with a Wheeler Fat Wrench and have had zero problems.
Nice work thanks for the info and thanks for watching. Please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I put a Holosun 508T on my M&P 2.0 10mm and love it. Used a C&H Precision aluminum mounting plate and stainless steel screws with Blue Loctite.
C&H makes very high quality stuff and they even make optics now. Thanks for watching Jeffrey
Great video
And you are 100% correct i wish i had seen this video before putting my optic in place.
Which part are you talking about be correct the screws or mounting pins? Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I ordered the optic an hour ago, I ordered the screw set from swampfox while watching the video, better safe than sorry, i will try to update if i can figure out what size the screws are, thanks for the info sir
That’s awesome man instead of trying to dog me for not knowing which screws you are actually trying to help figure it out. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already.
@@GSquaredTactical so the screws from the swampfox pack are "M4 x 0.7" Nut diameter: 5mm, Effective Length: 8.6mm, T10 head. These are the only screws from the swampfox pack that will work on this setup so it's got to be these ones. I have not shot this with the dot on it yet, so no news on how it's holding, perhaps will update after I can get to the range.
Dude, that is awesome thanks for the update on that like I said I have bought several of those swamp fox optic kits in the past and so I have a large Ziploc bag just slammed full. Oh those screws and they’ve been tossed around in and out of those little baggies, so many times I could not be sure which ones I used. All I knew is that it came from that kit. Thanks so much for the update. Maybe I will try to do a short follow up or something and include this information. Let us know how it holds up we have put about 300 rounds through hours with everything from 124 to 115 and even, some Plus P jacket, hollow point with zero issues and I put witness marks on my screws so I know it has not moved and it has held zero through those 300 rounds
@@GSquaredTactical I think you can edit the description to put it in there at least. I did use the same pin set you used as well. Thanks for the info again man will be watching for some more echelon videos in the future
I really enjoy your videos. I too bought the SCS 320 for my echelon and used the same pins as recommended . But I ended up using my stock screws that came with my SCS 320. I did a function check seems to all good but haven’t took it to the range. Hopefully it works, wish me luck.
Good luck friend and thank you for the kind words!
I am gonna put the Steiner MPS on my echelon.
I’ve never owned one. Let us know how you like it and follow us on facebook so you can share a photo with us. Please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Holosun 507 comp is the best optic
I’ve never had anything from Holosun I didn’t like. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I think someone here is starting to like echelon. At last. When is the next round at the shooting range?
Haha it’s ight lol. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I don’t understand the whole pin set thing. My scs 320 didn’t come with any pins and it mounted beautifully on my echelon. No gap and secure as hell. Please help me make sense of what everyone keeps saying pins pins pins.
So, when you direct mount an optic to a slide, and there are no pens or studs recessed into the slide, and also recessed into the bottom of the optic, then not only could it potentially allow the optic to move side to side from corner to corner, but the biggest reason is that all of the lateral recoil is absorbed at the screws so instead of those pens, keeping the pressure off of the screws by not allowing it to move front to back upon recoil keeps the pressure off of the screws. Believe me when I tell you if you shoot it long enough without those pens, it will sheer off the screws and the best you can hope for is that when it does that it does not share them off flush with the top of the slide or you will have to pay a gunsmith to get them out and potentially have to re-mill your slide. There are a couple of manufactures such as Sig Sauer that do not use studs upon direct mounting but if you have had any of those, you know that the optic fits so tight between the cut out, you literally have to slide the optic onto the slide from the side it will not sit down in there coming from the top, which means it is pinned super tight between the front of the cut out and the rear of the cut out so that it cannot move front to back therefore helping to keep the pressure off of the screws during lateral recoil. Don’t be like me that one that says it want Happen I’ve put 100’s of round and never had a problem because I eventually did. Make Springfield send you the pins and use them.

Thank you for your comment. 3 days ago I ordered the pinset directly from Springfield so I’ll have 1,2 and 3. I’m not shooting it until the pins come in now.
Good decision!!
I save all my pistol spare screws. I ordered several length for my Glock 40. Good your common sense kind of guy lol. Would have been mad if you followed his directions and messed up your gun.
No kidding
