The reason Obi-Wan was able to command them like he did was because he used the Force on them. If you look closely, he waves his hand slightly as he gives them the command.

The Stormtroopers - guys in white - didn't take orders from just anyone and it's not that they were "dumb". Obi-Wan used "The Force" to exert a kind of mind control over them. Glad you enjoyed this iconic movie - it was so much fun watching the two of you experience it. It was obvious that you were totally immersed! I just wish there were a way to let everyone who's seeing it for the first time do so as many of us did when it premiered - in a giant theatre with a giant screen - what an experience it was!

    “HE’s BACK!!”
This is one of the most heartfelt and exciting reactions to star War's in a long time!
TheStar Wars movies take place a long time ago in a galaxy far away so there’s no Earth.
The scenes of Tattooine (where Luke is from) was filmed in Tunisia and Death Valley (California).
Looking forward to your reaction for Empire Strikes Back!!

p.s. as it said in the beginning, this all happened a LONG time ago, in a galaxy FAR far away ;)

Earth doesn't exist in Star Wars since the action takes place in another galaxy. However Alderaan is the same type of planet as the Earth, same size, same atmospheric conditions, same gravity, same landmass/ocean ratio. Tatooine (the desert planet) is directly inspired from Dune, the novel from Frank Herbert.
Stormtroopers aren't robots, they are humans in armor. Darth Vader is also human although he might be lacking some limbs... so he would be closer to a cyborg.
As much as he can manipulate stormtroopers with the Force, Obi Wan can make as if he was invisible to them (when he goes to switch off the tractor beam). You can clearly see him extend his hand towards them.
Leia is a bad ass because her father trained her to be part of the rebellion, at 16 she stole ships under the nose of the Empire while pretending they were stolen by someone else all of this displaying calm and charisma.
For reference, the Death Star is only 160 kms in diameter. In terms of "moon" it is very small but in terms of human made megastructure, it is still gigantic.

Star Wars is not really science fiction, it's more space opera/fairy tale/mythology. George Lucas based the style of Star Wars of the adventure serial movies of the 30s and 40s, from the days before television. These were short, low-budget kids' films shown before the main movie at the cinema which featured quick, expository dialogue, fast-paced action, grand orchestral scores, simple story plotlines and wipe transitions. The Lone Ranger, Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon and Superman are examples of some of the more well-known movie serials.
This style of filmmaking would have been very old-fashioned and outdated even in the 70s, when movies trended toward more gritty, downbeat and realistic. Star Wars was meant to be a throwback to a more optimistic age. The 70s were a very turbulent time politically and socially in the US.
Cliffhanger endings were also a big part of these movie serials, in order to get you to come back to the theater the following week to see what happens next. If you missed the previous week, you would just be dropped right into the action of a story in progress, so they would often include a text card or crawl at the beginning to briefly catch you up on what you missed in the previous chapter.
George Lucas wanted you to feel like you were walking right into the middle of the story, so he included a text crawl just like in the old movie serials, and later added "Episode IV" to the title to make it feel like there was a story in progress.

This India accent (do not misunderstand me, I do not mean it in a derogatory way) seems so refreshing in the context of movie reactions, especially because I can imagine India dominated by Bollywood. And then see how the feelings I felt watching that movie translates to people in the other side of the world's first watchers. It is 2 pairs of eyes and 2 hearts that will see such a beloved piece of art. Love it! I say it is refreshing because we do not see people from other cultures reacting to Star Wars. Welcome to the legion of fans!

There were no second chances with Jabba, something Han Solo would find out -- though the slug-like alien would ultimately fall victim to his own hubris and vengeful ways.

37:39 Regarding Ben's self-sacrifice on the Death Star, he let himself be killed--"If you strike me down, I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine"--because he knew that he had been deemed worth by the Force. At this point, Ben Kenobi intended to sacrifice himself, so he was ready to be killed knowing that he could be more powerful when he died as he had learned how to linger via being a Force spirit.

5:06 the white soldiers or storm troopers are human, who enlisted in the imperial academy, Lord Vader is half man half machine, .. his story will always be told in the prequels
Ok back to the white storm troopers so Stormtroopers were modelled on the clone troopers who fought for the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. (Which you’ll hear mentioned in this movie)
At the dawn of the Galactic Empire, the first generation of stormtroopers consisted of cloned soldiers who served the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars.

First of all guys Welcome to the Star Wars family, .. you’ve a long journey ahead but know … “We’ll all be with you 🤗
So this movie begins during a period of Galactic civil war among what’s left of an institution which stood for 1000 years and represented democracy/freedom, it was replaced by a new political dictatorship as result of a coup!!
so this is 19 years after the events of episode III, the republic together with freedom has fallen!! and what emerges from its ashes is a new political super-power which has consolidated the remaining supporting star systems into unified Empire, controlled by the most ancient evil (thought extinct) - the Sith, unbeknownst .. all other star systems which fell away are sympathetic to foundations of a free republic and its ancient protectors (the Jedi) which have all been exterminated, closely untaken by the emperors most loyal servant Darth Vader, ..
this story begins with the empire in hot pursuit of rebel spies who managed to steal the plans for the most powerful weapon to get be created (planet killer) the Death Star,
the key to restoring liberty, peace and justice lies within the blood of the Skywalker family 😊

This movie as it was getting ready to be released most people didn't pay it any attention. The studio even had trouble finding screens across the US to even show it. Even though I live in a city big enough to have quite a few screens and theaters at the time, it didn't open here it's first couple of weeks. A friend had to drive three hours to a much larger city to see it opening week. Once it was out and word of mouth got around and lines for showings went crazy, theaters were going crazy trying to GET it on their screens. In just a couple of weeks it went from almost no one cared, to almost everyone cared. Even I didn't really know about it until it blew up so big. I was 11 at the time. I saw it once it came to our city about three weeks after its release.

Welcome to the world of Star Wars.
I will give some information for a better understanding of the universe.
The Empire is a huge state that includes many planets and extends to most of the known galaxy, not counting some of the systems at the far edge. Initially, the empire was a constitutional monarchy, whose political affairs were governed not only by the emperor, but also by the senate, which includes a representative from each planet belonging to the empire, but after the creation of the Death Star, the senate was dissolved and power finally passed into the hands of the Emperor. Initially, the Empire was a galactic republic, but as a result of a series of events, the Lord of the Sith came to power, who proclaimed himself emperor (you will learn more about this in the prequels)
Now about the structure of the Force, in this period of time, the two most powerful and well-known orders of forseusers are the Sith and the Jedi, they came from one ancient order of force users who served both its aspects - the Dark and the Light side. The dark and light side of the force are not the good and evil side, they represent two different currents of force and were named by members of the very first order in honor of the two moons that were satellites of the planet where this order was based, one was made of white stone, the other of black. This ancient order practiced a balance between the sides, the light one is more calm and creative, the dark one is more emotional and destructive. But over time, this order banned the study of the dark side of the force and focused on the light side, becoming the Jedi Order from the time. Once there was a split within the order and some members of the supreme Council were exiled to unknown regions of the galaxy because of the desire to study the dark side of the force. These fallen Jedi found the planet Korriban (or Morraband), where a humanoid undeveloped red-skinned race lived, which had a huge connection with the dark side. The fallen Jedi quickly subdued this race, which called itself the Sith, after which they named themselves the Sith Lords, creating a new order of force users, which was focused only on the dark side. With the passage of time, several major wars occurred between the newly created Sith Empire and the Old Republic, which included the Jedi as guardians of peace and justice. As a result, the Sith were almost destroyed several times, losing wars due to constant betrayals and internecine power struggles. But then a Sith lord was born, named Darth Bane, he created the rule of two, the rule that there can only be two Sith master and apprentice, a master to embody power, apprentice to reach for this power. When an apprentice becomes more powerful than a master, he kills him and takes his place, taking a new apprentice, the Sith were forced to go underground, but began to develop thanks to this. Darth Bane, after creating this rule, killed all the remaining Sith, becoming a master and taking a girl as an apprentice, who eventually killed him and, taking his place, continued the path of the Rule of Two.
Sith and Jedi have opposite ideologies and philosophies, and most importantly - an attitude to the Force, Jedi serve the force, cutting themselves off from everything mundane, they are forbidden to take wives or husbands, have children, have property, nothing should cause affection and emotions and distract from serving the Force. Emotions lead to the dark side of the force, so the Sith raise their emotions to the absolute, they feed on them, most often hatred and rage, as one of the most powerful emotions, but also any other, if the Jedi serve the force like monks, then the Sith use the force to get what they want. Even the powers of the dark side and the light side are different, the light side is more creative and protective (force push, mind deception), when the dark side is more destructive and aggressive (force choke, force lightning)
Now to the more relevant:) At the moment, thanks to political intrigues, the Sith lord Darth Sidious gained power over the galaxy, after which, with the help of his apprentice Darth Vader, he almost destroyed the Jedi Order, the Jedi are forced to hide without having contact with each other in the hope of someday being able to fight back.
Oh yes, well, the names of the Sith Darth Vader, Darth Sidious, Darth Maul, etc. are not names given at birth, they receive them when they join the order, the prefix Darth literally means Lord in the language of the Sith.
    The code of the sith
Peace is a lie. There is only Passion.
    Through Passion, I gain Strength.
    Through Strength, I gain Power.
    Through Power, I gain Victory.
Through Victory my chains are Broken.
    The Force shall free me
    The code of the Jedi
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.

Pour some Romulan Ale, this trip is going to get very bumpy.;) I don't have to imagine 1977, since I saw "Star Wars" at the same ex-Cinerama theater that screened "2001: A Space Ddyssey" (1968). 6:02 A Krayt Dragon skeleton. 6:40 Jawas collecting scrap. 8:02 A Sandcrawler. 8:08 You are watching the George Lucre Edition, with added DFX not seen in 1977. 12:35 a Krayt Dragon call. 14:13 A Jedi Lightsaber, amazing audiences since 1977. 15:12 Dark Side choke. 15:55 The results of Imperial Storm Trooper "interrogation," grossing out audiences since 1977. 17:38 Jedi Mind Trick. 19:18 Don't mess with a Jedi... 21:22 Jabba the Hutt didn't show up until "Return of the Jedi" (1983) in the original trilogy. 22:54 The Jump to Lightspeed, amazing audiences since 1977. 31:57 A Dianoga. 37:28 The Jedi consider Death to be a quaint concept. 41:44 Now for some World War II-level space combat. 46:25 Did you notice that Chewbacca DIDN'T get a medal?

Loved your reaction. BTW, I can't give too much away, so I won't but ... the reason the Storm Troopers seem to follow ANYONE'S orders is because, of course, they followed commands from their leaders/superiors, but Obi Wan was a special case. He was a Jedi, and the Jedi order studies many things, one being how to control "weak people's minds". Others can't do that.

Star Wars enduring popularity lies in the fact that at its core it is a message of hope. The films creator George Lucas tells a story of a child who was dying and only given weeks to live and wanted to see Star Wars. After the child saw the movie he went on to live several more months! George said that this didn’t happen just a few more times but hundreds of times. This was part of the reason that this movie was later renamed as “A New Hope”. Star Wars is hope.

With Obi wan he was using a force power called the mind trick which convinces those of low will power to follow instructions or ideas that you tell them that could make sense or don’t put them in danger. With C-3PO, no one things much of droids so when he said he would take R2-D2 to be fixed, they took it literally because what is some mere droid gana do?

I'm so glad you chose to start with Episode 4. The experience of Star Wars seems odd to start with number 4, but it makes the prequels even better, in my opinion. I KNEW you'd love this story. The mythology that surrounds it all is captivating.
I have binge-watched all of your Star Wars uploads and loved it. Wish I could have been sitting there with you.
You are NOW ready for the Kenobi series. It will mean so much more now that you know the story from episode 3.
You might want to consider The Clone Wars animated show. It has some of the BEST Star Wars content out there. Then there is Star Wars: Rebels. More awesome characters that will show up in live action VERY soon (looking forward to that).
And a warning to you......The Mandalorian (which takes place 5 to 6 years AFTER Episode 6) will suck you in even harder. It's made BY fans FOR the fans! It's an old story but is perfect for this universe.
Fun fact. At 45:20 , when climbing out of the X-wing fighter, Mark Hamill breaks character and accidentally calls out "Carrie!" instead of Leia while hugging her. There are quite a few "bloopers" that are fun to search for.
    Great vids, you guys!

I remember 1977. I remember having my 7 year old mind blown by this movie and had to have everything related to Star Wars from toys to bedsheets and pjs to eventually collecting every issue of the '77-'85 run of the Marvel comic series. We dressed really stupid in 1977.

The stormtroopers arent dumb for letting r2-d2 and c3po roam the halls. The entire death star has only empire forces and droids onboard. So unless everyone knew that rebels had arrived by way of the tractor beam, you would just think any droid on the death star was part of the empire.

I've been watching this movie and this franchise since I was a child and have seen all of the movies in theaters as well as countless times re-watching with reactors. It never gets old seeing the wonder and joy in the faces of people discovering these movies for the first time with fresh eyes. Your reactions are wonderful and I plan to binge-watch all of these movies with you. I hope that when you finish the movies you will also consider watching the Disney+ limited series: The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Obi Wan Kenobi.

This is such a delightful reaction video!!! They way both of your eyes were lit up with child-like wonder throughout the movie was sooo touching. It pulled me instantly back to my 9 year old self when I saw Star Wars for the first time in the theater. Thank you for giving me such a special moment. I hope you guys will consider watching the prequels too and maybe the Disney + series especially Obi-Wan Kenobi. 😃😍🤩

what an amazing reaction. it's very hard to find someone in today's world who doesn't know anything about Star Wars. It will be a lot to react to, but it will keep your channel alive or quite a while. most people have at least heard of Darth Vader or his famous line. I'm very excited see you react to the rest of the movies. I would also suggest some of the spin off shows after like "The Mandolorian" and the "Obi-Wan Kenobi" series after you watch the moves. I think you would enjoy them. Exited to see more.

You've just watched these movies for the first of what will be many times throughout your lives. The best thing is they get more enjoyable each time you watch them. I know this is an old reaction, but the Stormtroopers ("white people") weren't really following anyone's commands (except Obi Wan's). They just didn't realize the 2 droids were with the rebels. They just thought they were some of the hundreds of service droids throughout the ship.
