    In regards to reviewing this product each time the dev changes version numbers (I get messages saying its 1.3 now), I am not going to do this. The number of updates this developer is releasing daily only confirms my opinion that this product wasn't ready for release.
    v1.3 for example has minor fixes like the trim knob and a new livery which are all welcome changes but is using this to tell people that the reviews are no longer relevant because its a completely different model now. I would take the version numbering that he is releasing with a grain of salt.
    To be clear, this video is not a comprehensive list of issues with this aircraft. This video was 30 minutes long when I stopped adding from the list of items I found and then edited it down to 18 minutes by removing a number of items.
    I may re-visit this video if there are major changes (like the cockpit model or textures for instance), but if you are concerned about its state, I would either wait a bit or do further research for yourself. Don't take this review, or any other for that matter as gospel.
    Thanks for the support guys!

    I bought it on release. I hated it and felt gutted. I watched your review. I watched the discussions across the internet. I watched your interactions with the developer. I held on for two updates to see how it improved.
    Based on the quality of the product, the fact it is still not worth the price and especially the extremely unprofessional way the developer has conducted himself and his attitudes towards paying customers who are disappointed brought me to the decision to get a refund.
    The developer refunded me very quickly, but did let me know his feelings in the refund email.
    Buy this product at your own risk. You have been warned.

      NOTAM I think BBS has bitten off more than they can chew with trying to bring this product into MSFS. They may have decades of experience in hobbyist flight sim development, but that level of expertise just won’t cut it in today’s market, especially with what people expect, the quality of default aircraft and the price BBS chose to sell at.
      I don’t think BBS is out to screw people, but I do think they need a good hard look at themselves.

    I did not think your original review was unfair. The aircraft had numerous problems - you identified and demonstrated them; but you also pointed out many things that were good. The fact the developer provided an update that addressed many of the problems seems to vindicate your earlier review. I think Black Box's reputation would have been better served by them taking a more amenable approach to criticism. Keep up the good work!

    This price tag alone is ridiculous! This applies to Carenado, too. This is the same range that A2A charges for their Accu-Sim aircraft. And they take many months each to develop and are totally different beasts! None of those rushed out cheap models is worth more than $10 , and that's pushing it!

    • @NOTAM1
      @NOTAM1  3 роки тому +4

      Its my biggest problem with this model. They want to charge Accu-Sim prices and provide freeware beta products, and then try to deceive and discredit anyone that try's to point it out.

    • @ImpendingJoker
      @ImpendingJoker 3 роки тому +2

      After I bought my first A2A GA airplane(the Comanche) I totally stopped buying Carenado planes. Literally all you are paying for there is the 3D model. The systems are all pretty much default, and while the models look good all the planes fly pretty badly, and as FSX was coming to a close and P3D was picking up, they started to jack-up their prices to the point of absurdity. So, I will not even consider Carenado planes in MSFS. I mean a C182? Did we really need ~another high wing Cessna right after launch? As for the Mooney, it just holds little interest for me, as I've never liked how they look, and I hate the small amount of travel their nose wheels have in real life, to the point that if you are towing it, and even think about turning it, you're going to break something. I want some of the Alabeo planes, like the Beech Staggerwing, and I want them at the price point they deserve, like ~$24 or so. $40 bucks for the 182 or the Mooney is asking way too much.

    • @NOTAM1
      @NOTAM1  3 роки тому +1

      @@ImpendingJoker 182 was definitely overpriced. I understand that the 182 in real life is so much more plane than the 172, but unless you are an actual owner of one in RL, I can't imagine you wanting to purchase it in sim. I've yet to review it as other reviews keep taking precedent, but it's just your standard Carenado great model, nothing else here.

    Black Box is notorious for blasting reviewers when they don’t give them a totally positive review. They’ve been doing it for years. They’re also notorious for releasing half baked products. In my opinion, they deserve every bit of criticism they get, especially when they can’t take constructive criticism from the community. I swore them off a long long time ago, and after hearing how they’ve treated you, it solidifies my decision even more.

    Thanks for reviewing it again, I bought it myself and I found an other issue, when you use headtracking in the floatversion and see out of the window straight down you still see wheels undercarriage in stead of floats. And in my plane I can't turn the obs so I am kind of navigating blind or with the vfr map. But I really really love it. You mentioned that you dont like how the prop looks but I saw in the real one there is also a flat prop, not one with a bullet head shape in the middle of it I mean. So that seems pretty accurate. Would be nice if they remove that reflective thingy what they call a mirror completely and on stead of it mount a smartphone holder with a phone in it with a moving map. Over all I am happy I bought it

    • @NOTAM1
      @NOTAM1  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Rudy, Yes, I also have had a number of issues with head tracking. (even involving restarts because the cockpit position was outside the plane). I didn't include them as Its hard to know if it is a problem with the aircraft or head tracking (even though I've never experienced this before)
      Just to be clear, the issue I have with the prop is that it has visual glitches and problems with the animation and model.
      I agree with you on the mirror. Just get rid of it or use it as a map holder etc... like you mentioned.

    • @NOTAM1

      Its my largest issue with the model. As another user pointed out A2A charges this much for their Accu-Sim line of aircraft. This isn't anywhere near that. This is a great little aircraft at $10 and overpriced but maybe worth having a float plane and work in progress at $20 IMO.
      They're just batting out of their league IMO. Is it fun... Yes, but not because this model is amazing. Its fun because MSFS is amazing and this brings you a float plane if you're really into them. At the end of the day, this was released too early and is overpriced. If you can overlook these two things, then yes, you are going to have fun in it.
      I enjoyed it while recording for the second review, just not sure if I'll get my $40 worth out of it.

    Asobo set a high standard with their default MSFS 2020 models for all future models for their simulator to come. A new day and age, if you will, for simulation enthusiasts. And as someone who has bought the Carenado Mooney, this L-19 model by BlackBox Simulations wouldn't make the cut even if all the bugs were patched. There is probably a good reason it is not featured in the official MSFS marketplace store.

Luigi charged nearly double what Tony did. So Luigi never had any customers and made little money. We all waited for Tony to arrive 30 minutes later. Even though Tony charged half the price, he made a fortune as we all waited for him. The moral of the story is, you can keep your prices low, and still make lots of money.

    Based on your review. It appears to me the developer for this product did not understand flight simulation enthusiasts or for that matter aviation enthusiasts in general. And in saying that, I'm giving that developer the benefit of the doubt. Flight simulations has gone a long way since 2006. We as desktop aviators (because of the technology we have today), expect considerably more in a addon products then what we bought in 2006, especially at the $40.00 price point you're talking. When you're getting into that kind of price point, Desktop aviators are expecting near study level product. Now to be fair that can be subjective and I will concede on that point.
    When I did my review of the Big Tire studios KitFox, I said basically the same thing and knew going in that it was only a $9.00 Starbucks coffee expense, you got that quality of an aircraft. And I was hard on the aircraft but I was fair. Maybe because my youtube channel ( #dionm01 ) is so small I didn't get the hate as you did from the developer.
    But to be frank, I don't really care what these developers say anyway. If they want my money they have to sell it to me, it is simple as that. Every product I review on my channel I pay for out of my own pocket, and that's how I want it to be. To keep my reviews fair and honest, and not beholden to anyone. That keeps my integrity level of my channel high which is what I want. For me, if a product that I purchase sucks, I have no problem telling my audience so. And if the product as good, I'll tell my audience the same. I do not compromise, and I feel my audience does not want me to compromise.
    With your review of this product I felt you were fair and honest with your opinions. And that's all you need to do, and the audience will respond to that. I'm expecting a lot of add ons for Microsoft flight simulator 2020, I just hope Asobo gets the SDK fleshed out to where developers could provide true study level aircraft for us to purchase to grow are flight simulation aviation experience. Flight simulation is not a toy because it can fills so many roles. One Man's Opinion. Cheers and keep up the great work Dion

    I have never had issues with the price a developer puts in their product. Buyers will eventually dictate a more objective price overtime by the number of units they sell.
    Now, pricing should correlate with things such as the model, textures, sounds etc. But a product should work as advertised, either cheap or expensive. There are centainly bugs here and there in mostly any new product, but bugs should not be enough in number to throw a party.

    Well done for doing this second review David. It confirms my opinion you are one of the best reviewers in the flight sim community. Not only do new players to flight simming need reviews on bad aircraft, but when they are fixed they need an updated opinion. You could have left it, but you didn't. You have done the right thing, even after the childish rants of the developer.
    I still won't be buying this god awful FSX attempt at porting. And I think you are being very generous with the interior model. It still looks terrible. Maybe we have been spoilt with the new Asobo/Carenado models lol 😁
    We are very early in the development of MSFS 2020, so expect many more aircraft to be released from professional developers, that know what they are doing, and have the consumer at the top of the list of priorities. Because of this, this aircraft will be long forgotten about in a years time. Blackbox know this, hence why he released it in a rushed state, to get as much cash as possible before it flies off into the wilderness. 👍

    Hi David, thanks for the update. You know I love your work, but please oh please try to steer clear from drama and cleaving interactions with any one, especially devs. That only usually combes back and bite people in the butt, later. We saw the issues, we agree with you. Don't get people to chose sides because people are stupid un groups. Especially across the internet.
    Anyhow, I wanted to ask you for a few days, but do you intend to review or at least talk about REX Weather Force? We know it can push accurate METARs in the sim, we've had this kind of software since forever on previous sims, but I want to know what someone like you thinks about the usefulness of it, how it feels during a longer flight (say, above 100 miles) and if the experience is positive. I've seen lots of airport screenshot and it looks cool, but in real life the weather situation of an airfield does not stretch to the horizon, like it does with tools like REX. I don't care how accurate it is compared to real life, I just want weather pattern diversity, because MSFS's default one is kinda hit or miss, either great or clear weather :/
    Cheers from France :)

All their models should be completely free and then you pay what you feel they are worth. This is still overpriced and does not have the polish that an actual simulation level model needs.
