- After diagnosing and correcting the leak a quick test confirmed that the low pressure fuel supply did not have an internal leak so lets get it back on the Fordson major and see if it starts and runs. Have i cured the problem?

Interesting video. I did same things with my Nuffield lately. I also changed the bearings and oil seal.

Really enjoyed watching the fuel injection pump being dismantled, you helped me understand what is going on inside these pumps. I have several Majors here in the USA. Your coupler is very nice and quiet, is there a trick to making them so nice and quiet?
Hi Calvin. Glad you enjoues the video. To have a quiet coupler remove it ant fill the pad and coupler with a good quality RTV sealer. Personally i use Würth sealer. When it is dry cut off the excess. It transforms the noise levels at low revs. Don't forget to share the videos 😁

Do you know how to tell if you have a 40hp or a 60hp Dagenham engine in your tractor?
Look at the numbers cast into the side door of the vac governor injector pump. You are looking fir 2 numbers. It will be either 70 or 75.
70 is a 40hp pump. 75 is a 60hp pump.
They are a smoother running engine than the later mark 2 engines that used the mechanical injector pump.
I have only used the pump numbers to get the calibration specifications.
I rebuild/calibrate those pumps pretty much weekly. They are such a pleasure to do unless they have been sunk as many of them that are turning up lately have been. I fit an oil level sight tube in place of the genuine spiral copper tube as lack of oil in the cambox is a big weakness for them and the owner/operator can see if there is a level issue. Plus I drill and tap the door for a fill plug. The fibre biscuit drive can be upgraded to the better Mark 2 system. Got one of the 6 cylinder engines that hasnt had the head off in over 60years and you can go d it wn to the boat and touch the starter button and its up n running in 1/2 a compression. Beautiful engines.
@@matui6983 yes you can get the quiet spider coupler i used a good sealer to make mine quieter as it was a a lot cheaper. A filler plug and a drain plug are a great idea to add as the diesel pushes the oil out of the pump and not many people drain the pump and refill with fresh oil at service times. not sure about changing the copper pipe as this is an overflow for when diesel passes the plungers to escape.
If diesel does bypass worn plungers with the level tube being clear you are able to see the level in the tube rise as diesel is added to oil in the cambox. Its worked for us for last 40 years.
