    I love my 800 X2, it is a beast! Wish I had a vid of it breaking through the frozen marsh last winter towing a trailer! Just put some weight on the rear tires and let her eat!

      AbeDanielspictures have you had any oil pump problems with your x2? Cause I had heard on the forms that they had issues with oil pressure, but find it odd that their nothing on UA-cam talking about problems with oil pumps on those machines. Has it been reliable for ya? Since you bought it. and they say the 500x2 is better than the 800x2 is that true?

      @@aidenmurphy2997 Very reliable and no oil issues that I know of so far. As far as the 500 being better, better for what? I'm usually hauling a trailer or pulling a disc or harrows. It can chew up a drive belt but that's mostly my fault. I bet the 500 is a great machine too!

    These things are absolute tanks, the 800 is a gem imo, maybe the toughest built Sportsman Polaris made(500 as well). Lots of torque, biggest downfall was the horrible mpg. I keep getting mine ready to sell but I just can't do it, does so many things well. Fun quad that was such a bargain when they were produced.

      @RobL. Your right about that! I really do like the 800 sportsman I’ve had a carbureted sportsman 700 twin and that got even worse fuel mileage than the 800.. as far as bargain in 2014 they had the 570 and the 850 and they were pretty much giving the 800 away on my opinion. They were retailing for $5,999 however most dealers were letting them go for around $5000

      @@rockspowersports I bought mine used in 2019, it was mint with 280 miles and was a 2014, last year they made em. I put different plugs in mine, switched from the stock Champions to NGKs, it made a slight difference in mph actually, and it started and ran better. I also installed some add ons, air box cover and slip on HMF, huge difference in the heat they give off from the exhaust and moderate boost in performance. I get that it was a dated design, but they just seem more durable than the newer ones. Maybe it's just me. I have a walk-around vid of mine on my channel.

    As I know, you can get Engine Braking System, after you change Primary clutch.

    • @rockspowersports

      Yes you can, it’s pretty easy to do just a little pricey.

    I wonder if the rev limiter wears off after a while because ours would get up to 88 mph.

    Hey I saw the video of the 2016 850 polaris sportsman white lightning. I was looking at buying one 2600.kms. what's your thought on that bike. I've never owned one. I've been a suzuki guy my whole life.

    For future reference the pistons and rings are considered bottom end of the engine. Heads, cam, valves and such are the top end. Good video! I miss my old Polaris and looking to get a new one but prices are too crazy on everything now.

      @Isaac Leach It is not supposed to do that. More than likely you have an issues going on inside your front differential. Most likely your cage has broken allowing some of the rollers to engage.

    You seem to do real good reviews on all your vids so I am wondering what’s your review/ personal opinion about 1997 Polaris xplorers/sportsman 500?

    • @rockspowersports
      @rockspowersports  2 роки тому +1

      Are you trying to compare the xplorer 500 and the sportsman 500? I don’t have a lot of experience with the xplorer 500 but I do believe it’s just basically a sportsman 500 without the handlebar light pod. As far as the sportsman 500 goes there solid machines. I did a review on a 96 a while back and I was impressed with it for its age. It rides very good and has decent power. I’ve heard of people having head gasket issues with the earlier 500’s however I think if you take care of you machine and keep the radiator clean it should last along time.
