Seeing him rip that solo legit got me emotional. Dave Ghrol fucking gets it. He's like, "fuck it the Cars need to be played live with this guy at least one last time at least"
This whole thing has to bring some healing to all the mourners there. Elliot Easton lost Ben Orr a hundred years ago and then Ric Ocasek. And these were SUCH Taylor songs to have everyone singing and dancing to! Epic sendoff for Taylor and the Greats before him. I still miss you, Freddie. ❤🩹💔❤🩹💔❤🩹
Elliot Easton is Still one of my favorite players!...............his entire playing, every single note, on Bye Bye love, is still one of the greatest things I have ever heard!
I'm in my late 50's and I'm from Boston.....the Cars were my band : ) God bless you Elliot I have goosebumps.....and Dave did a great job on Dave Robinson's amazing drum parts.
Jesus Titty Fuckin Christ,!! Elliott Easton has been one of my favorite guitar players since I first heard The Cars in 1978 🤘🤘 RIP , Benjamin Orr, Ric Ocasek and Taylor Hawkins.... Gone way too soon but NEVER FORGOTTEN 🤘🤘🤘
Elliott Easton could more than hold his own in the 70's/80's. He always made every solo note count, and these 2 solos are a the perfect example. I think Grohl was more of a fan of these other bands than was once believed : ) Him playing guitar on Live Wire is killer.
I’ve been crying tears of joy and sadness at so many of these songs. I’ve never seen a collection of artists as this concert. Shows the love for Taylor.
This was an unexpected treat. The Cars made some brilliant songs. What I really loved about this was that everybody on the stage was having a total blast. They were loving playing those songs.
I love Homme. But as a Cars fan since childhood (and a musician) he is no where O'casek/Orr vocals (where is Gregg Hawkes??). Elliot Easton still brings it. Simplicity at it's most amazing.
When i saw this footage I was like Josh does sound a little like Ben Orr this should be good and Josh killed it,What a great performance and to see Elliot there playing those iconic cars guitar riffs was so awesome, Great to see Elliot out there, Such an underrated guitar player the backbone for the cars
Except that he acted like a total d**k and sang as poorly as ever. Watching him walk all over Elliott's chance to talk to the audience reminded me why I hated having to watch josh perform every time tqotsa opened for good bands. Elliott's response was super kind. He just formed up with the real musicians there.
jesus titty fucking christ, for sure lady. I WAS THERE AND IT WAS ALL AMAZING PLUS I LOVE THE CARS. oh man. that whole show, speaking for myself only, will never be topped and I'll re-live those moments when I die. godddddddamn. I love you Taylor. Thank you for everything you've ever given to us. #TaylorHawkinsForever
I saw The Cars open for Styx at the Forum in 78. The first new wave band 99% of the crowd had heard (or heard of). Moving In Stereo had everyone off their noggins.
Live or in studio, he's got some decent versions of other artists. Billy Idol, Romeo Void, The Doors, Elliot Smith, Mark Lanegan, Cream, Artic Monkeys.
Mr.Mook, Josh Homme is one helluva voice and songwriter. Search up his luve stuff. Check out his catalogue, it might not be all to your taste, but he can't be denied.
The Cars are the Balls of Killa rock and roll. First hummer to Moving in Stereo and leave it to me. saw em in Boston on their album deal show. Then when they came to My home town of Portland Maine. Best advice to any kid, about doing Music. The Cars the cars and Candy o.Better fucking be in your line up.
Omg the synchronicity. Me -full on death metal head, shred guitar loving maniac for 40 years, and i've uttered Elliot Eastons' name quite of a few times in the last few weeks. I think twice today even just talking to myself. I was just pondering the sound of the 80's and bands i kinda shunned an grew respect for over the decades. There was a lot of talent in the 80's and a lot of the soundtrack to the 80's. But if i'm being fully honest, in the mainstream of popular music, the Cars definitely were a staple and an easily named to go of the sound of the 80's. It's no question. They were all over MTV, they wrote sings chicks shaked their ass too, or wanted to fk you too as soon as they came on. I truly absorbed later what a kick ass guitar player he is. And for the cork sniffing anti pop, punk rock/prog/ self indigent metal head guitar player musician type,. what he really was. It only made me go back to revisit and realize he was a consummate professional who played to the tune and killed it.
Normally he is excellent but I was honestly surprised how bad he goofed on that song haha, it was a big night with probably lots of drinks involved, as long as he doesn't let it happen again! xD He was amazing at Wembley tho
@@CasualGameDev ...he seemed to be on good behavior. No kicking camera people in the face. No offense, but they could have found someone better to sing the cars songs. He wasn't putting any effort into it. Disappointing.🥱
Anyone else remember hearing the beginning of Just What I Needed on the radio years ago and thinking they were about to hear Led Zep's Good Times, Bad Times?
What are you smoking?!?! I need some of that..... It's got you on another planet for sure. Never once ,in the thousands of times I've heard that song , did I ever hear the intro and mistake it for Zeppelin 🤣😂🤣. Puff puff pass mofo 🤘🤘
It’s nice to see master drummer Grohl completely fuck up the drums...in exactly the same way every high school band does. Yeah, you probably didn’t hear it. ; )
Lol. I'm not a muso but my ears caught something, wondering if Dave fucked up for a moment. He has the best excuse. He's not really a drummer these days, and he just spread himself too thin. But hell, Roger and Rufus Taylor, Stewart Copeland, Danny Carey and that bloke from Blink 182 were waiting in the wings. Oh well, it was Daves show. He called the shots. I enjoyed it anyway.
Thanks ...❤❤❤ Elliot i love you , so fine and perfect guitarist ...
I love you EE ❤
Elliot chops Holy moly!
Elliot Easton, a musician's musician. The Cars, those are well crafted songs. R.I.P. Taylor, Ben Orr and Rick Ocasek.
Well said!
Got that right!
some of the most amazing arrangements when you dig into the mixes
Seeing him rip that solo legit got me emotional. Dave Ghrol fucking gets it. He's like, "fuck it the Cars need to be played live with this guy at least one last time at least"
One of the best guitar players of that era and proves he has a timeless style. also played with Credence in recent years.
The best guitarist Elliot eston
Elliot Easton is a guitar genius!!!
Easton was always underrated.
Josh Homme- King of 80'sTop 40 Karaoke
This whole thing has to bring some healing to all the mourners there. Elliot Easton lost Ben Orr a hundred years ago and then Ric Ocasek. And these were SUCH Taylor songs to have everyone singing and dancing to! Epic sendoff for Taylor and the Greats before him. I still miss you, Freddie. ❤🩹💔❤🩹💔❤🩹
The In the Pocket of Guitarists Groove. When Rick Beato says your one of the guitarists who nail it every time, you're in rare company.
Seeing and hearing Elliot play made my day ..
Elliot Easton, such a badass!
Elliot Easton is Still one of my favorite players!...............his entire playing, every single note, on Bye Bye love, is still one of the greatest things I have ever heard!
Great to see that EE still has it.
I'm in my late 50's and I'm from Boston.....the Cars were my band : ) God bless you Elliot I have goosebumps.....and Dave did a great job on Dave Robinson's amazing drum parts.

One of THEE most underrated guitar players of all time. The man is a monster player in so many different styles.
Elliot Easton is classically trained. Degree in Music Theory from Cal Berkeley. Mother was a concert pianist I think.
Wow. Thats one helluva prestigious resume. I had no idea. He could probably play anything, and explain the intricacies and theory behind it.
Berklee College of Music in Boston. Not the same institution as Berkeley.
Elliot melts it.
Rami doing his thing is everything
Rami got to SHINE with this short set!
Rami is underrated in the mainstream. Guy is GOLDEN.
Man they could have chose 10 other better Cars songs to do than 'Shake It Up'. Glad they did 'Just What I Needed'. Epic keyboard line.
Elliot Easton makes every note count….you can sing to his solos!
Elliot was flawless, Foo Fighters were great. Josh ok but could have learned the words
Elliott Easton could more than hold his own in the 70's/80's. He always made every solo note count, and these 2 solos are a the perfect example. I think Grohl was more of a fan of these other bands than was once believed : ) Him playing guitar on Live Wire is killer.
Love The Cars. Such great songs. "Just What I Needed" was the first song I learned to play on the drums. Always holds a special place for me.
The Cars was my first real Rock concert at the age of 14. My mother brought me. She was a fan too!
Elliot Easton is an absolute MONSTER and riff master.
That was great. Elliot Easton is an amazing guitarist.
I loved _loved_ playing and singing Just What I Needed with my band, back when I was alive.
Elliot’s solos always so very tasty. 😋
Loved the Cars. This is awesome 👏👏
How great would it have been to see Greg hawkes and David robinson up there too RIP Ben and Ric
I love Homme. But as a Cars fan since childhood (and a musician) he is no where O'casek/Orr vocals (where is Gregg Hawkes??). Elliot Easton still brings it. Simplicity at it's most amazing.
Elliot Easton is still so sharp!
…🎶Doesn’t matter where ya been, as long as it was deep.. Rip Ben, Ric,& Taylor 🎶
When i saw this footage I was like Josh does sound a little like Ben Orr this should be good and Josh killed it,What a great performance and to see Elliot there playing those iconic cars guitar riffs was so awesome, Great to see Elliot out there, Such an underrated guitar player the backbone for the cars
Just what I Needed, JH and EE!! Great stuff. RIP Ben, Ric and Taylor.
perfect solos everytime.
Always thought Josh Homme's voice harkened back to a lot of 70's and 80's new wave/synth pop singers. He's right at home here.
Underrated guitarist, for sure...
EE, The Cars Master Mechanic❤
Easton is such an underrated guitarist
Bad Ass Good job !!!!!!!!!!!! So good to hear this Live again

Josh homme is a truly beautiful man
the singer looks like Chris Penn from Footloose
Josh Homme... what a revelation!... didn't realise he was such a great vocalist... also the gleeful look on Dave's face during the wonderful intro...
...ever heard of QOTSA?
Live or in studio, he's got some decent versions of other artists. Billy Idol, Romeo Void, The Doors, Elliot Smith, Mark Lanegan, Cream, Artic Monkeys.
Mr.Mook, Josh Homme is one helluva voice and songwriter. Search up his luve stuff. Check out his catalogue, it might not be all to your taste, but he can't be denied.
And does a great Bowie as seen at the other tribute ❤
LMFAO!! What? Wow.
Incredible. ❤
Beautiful!

Superb
I couldve watched them do 4 cars songs.

Love your channel
Elliot Easton is the sheet.
Wow.
Jeez Josh, how do you NOT know the lyrics to Just What I Needed?
Lots of drinks
Normally he is excellent but I was honestly surprised how bad he goofed on that song haha, it was a big night with probably lots of drinks involved, as long as he doesn't let it happen again! xD He was amazing at Wembley tho

@@melissatyree566 Thats true but I couldnt rrally imagine Justin singing them either, maybe dave? I bet taylor would kill it if he was here man
Wow. Didn’t know the Foo’s could play The Cars, but I loved it.
That’s what makes them so great! They can adapt and play anything! Gotta love it!
That was great! Only way it could have been better is if they did Moving In Stereo too.
Lefty
Well done, filming the video screen. Worked well. (Not sure about your audio at the end there, though. Lol)
bruh this show was better than wembley lmao
Is there a reason Dave played drums? Didn’t love it tbh. The drums on Shake it Up sounded like Everlong. Pat Wilson was there. Why not have him do it?
Where was The blond haired backup singer Samantha?
Last time I saw a picture of Josh he was looking really skinny glad to see him back at a healthy weight!
Anyone else remember hearing the beginning of Just What I Needed on the radio years ago and thinking they were about to hear Led Zep's Good Times, Bad Times?
Never. Not once.
What are you smoking?!?! I need some of that..... It's got you on another planet for sure. Never once ,in the thousands of times I've heard that song , did I ever hear the intro and mistake it for Zeppelin 🤣😂🤣. Puff puff pass mofo 🤘🤘
I love The cars. Meanwhile, Homme looks like a little Popeye man.
Fucking epic
The choice of singer was poor and uninspiring, especially when he interrupted Elliot when he was talking, but Easton killed it as always!
Looks like a karaoke. Good thing they invented teleprompters for the stage floor or someone else would have had to sing.
Its very weird to see Josh sing without a guitar.
It’s nice to see master drummer Grohl completely fuck up the drums...in exactly the same way every high school band does. Yeah, you probably didn’t hear it. ; )

Maybe the singer could have learned the freakin' words or used a teleprompter....lame choice.
