his entire story up til now is why he's my favorite character. he feels like a real person with real ambitions. his story of awkward atonement and misunderstanding others and himself, are just too relatable. The moment he jumped to save Deku in ch 285 was the moment we finally get to see all of his atonement start to pay off. Up til now, you could've debated whether he was actually trying to help Deku, but in that single moment, NOTHING could've ever denied Kacchan saving his friend Deku and Kacchan living up to be the hero he's always aspired to be. That moment payed off two plot points. 1. He actually cares about Deku and was literally willing to give up his life for him, the same way Deku did for him 2 years ago. 2. He is a true hero and he will NEVER be the villain, no matter how people look at him. He has a passion for gaining power, but if he had to gain power from being a villain, he'd NEVER choose to be a villain.

I actually began to like him then since he showed a new side to himself, his musical side aka another reason why I think teaming with Jiro was a massive influence on him. Both bonded over the experience which connected to the Class 1A vs Class 1B arc. He even calls her "ears" ahhh amazing analysis tho!! 💜💜
