    You should take your built board to booted headquarters for them to ride, and give their opinion as it may influence their future boards in a positive way.

      DanieI Joseph ehh, they're very similar. They practically used the same parts as the V2, except for the control (which boosted should not change, as it is already excellent). Just more powerful motors, but the boosted, if im not mistaken, has better protection for the hardware

    Your video reviews are hands down the best on UA-cam. Very thorough, informative, unbiased, and to the point. Congrats and keep up the great work.
    I bought an Evolve Bamboo GTX 2-in-1 and I feel like it's beyond amazing, but I would love for you guys to review one to see how it compares to other boards. I plan on buying a second board soon so my girlfriend can ride with me and I'm unsure if I should buy another or try something new. I'd love to have your trusted opinion on this. Any chance that will happen?

    I have been waiting for you guys to release this video before making my next purchase and also was waiting on the boosted mini x reveiew! I am looking to purchase a new high end longboard (fast distance board) and at this point its between the boosted stealth, the raptor 2, and the "Foosted" that you guys built. I am also looking to get a mini board for the subways here in NYC that is easy to carry and at this point I narrowed it down to the Boosted Mini X, your DIY mini build from diyeboards, and the ARC Aileron v2. Please do the arc aileron video asap! Your videos are so amazing please keep up the good work! As for each of those categories I am looking to make a purchase in, which would you do?! I currently have an "Ownboard W1 Kicktail" version which I love. Please let me know what you think and keep up the good work/ amazing videos!!

    • @thewelshdragon1567
      @thewelshdragon1567 6 років тому +1

      Gregory Patzelt i think you should definitely go the diy way, while boosted is a recognisable brand I’m sure you’ll get much more excitement and enjoyment out of an ultra powerful diy board built for long boarders with credible longboard parts.

    • @gregorypatzelt6964
      @gregorypatzelt6964 6 років тому

      Which DIY set up would you go with?

    • @skatemetric627
      @skatemetric627  6 років тому

      For serious daily commuting, the Stealth is probably the more pragmatic option. Its jerk filter can be quite nice on days when you're feeling less enthusiastic about riding and just want to get where you're going without any drama. That being said, I commute daily on the Foosted, and I'm absolutely loving it. There's just something about that board.. If it were a car, I think it would be a Ferrari, while the Stealth would be a Porsche. Both are excellent, but the Foosted has a little more excitement (or pantomime, as Jeremy Clarkson might say), while the Stealth is easier to daily drive. It's tough to go wrong with either.
      As for the shortboard to buy, the Aileron looks extremely promising on paper, but we won't know for sure until we test it. We can state confidently that the Mini X is phenomenal to ride, but it's also on the heavier side, so it's not without its drawbacks. DIYing may be a solid option too, although you'd have to figure out the enclosures, as we never followed up on our prototype build.

    • @gregorypatzelt6964
      @gregorypatzelt6964 6 років тому

      Just because you threw the Jeremy Clarkson reference in there i'm digging it!! I absolutely get the reference between the Porsche and Ferrari. I mean the Porsche is the better daily driver with less maintenance, while the Ferrari is just special and exciting. I am pretty advanced in all board related sports/extreme sports. Therefore, the more exciting and faster the ride (especially a good carving board) would be the better choice for me. However, I am not the most handy guy in the world - but I think i'd have no issue following your tutorial to put the board together.....
      As per the Short board (DIY build) I was thinking more along the lines of the bolt on kit that you guys used from DIYeboard (i believe you used the 10s2p kit dual belt drive) and just bolted it on? It was the one with the globe deck in the 3 way comparison video VS the meepo short board and the riptide r1. If I were to go the DIY route on a short board, I would go with either that kit (the 10s2p or the 10s5p). Would the 10s5p dual belt kit fit on a 30 or 31 inch deck though?? It comes with enclosures....

    What about mileage? You often compare boards just on pure peak performance but I reckon the range (and reliability long term) it's a crucial factor when it comes to choose if going for less performance but known limits (boosted) or going through the risk and unknown of a ground up building (foosted). So after many weeks of commuting the foosted how do you compare these two boards on range? Thanks

    • @Mpower31
      @Mpower31 6 років тому

      I've also been wanting to know about range I wish they would make a response video to all the questions!

    • @skatemetric627
      @skatemetric627  6 років тому +2

      We intended to build the Foosted with a 214Wh 30Q pack, but unfortunately, we received a defective unit. As a temporary solution (while we wait for the replacement to arrive), we've been using a 144Wh 20R pack, which is somewhat smaller than the XR battery found in the Stealth. With the correct battery, the Foosted ought to be right on par with the Stealth range-wise, but in its current state, it'll probably go about 7-10 miles before performance completely falls off (we haven't actually tested this).
      Honestly though, I'm not sure I'm going to bother installing the bigger pack when it arrives. Range hasn't been an issue for me, and I appreciate the lighter weight of the 144Wh battery.

    • @Mpower31
      @Mpower31 6 років тому

      SkateMetric Thanks! Did you ever consider getting the Sanyo battery?
      It seems strange that the Foosted is more powerful but gets similar range to a Boosted board?

      Well that's a cheap and unprofessional way of reviewing a board considering your board reviewing channel is delivering, I quote from your homepage: *reviews and comparisons with a high degree of quantitative rigor*.

    • @skatemetric627
      @skatemetric627  6 років тому +3

      In all seriousness though, we think the numerous reports of Evolve riders being thrown from their boards is absolutely unacceptable. Have you ever been tossed from an electric skateboard on account of the brakes locking up? We have, and as far as we're concerned, nothing in the world could redeem a board that does that.
      Additionally, Evolve's reliability and customer service are legendarily bad. We've actually seen the former firsthand, when a rider came by our local skate shop with his brand new, broken down GTX board. We helped him diagnose the problem, and in the process, we got a close look at the board's hardware and electronics (we were not impressed).
      We absolutely do intend to get our hands on a GTX for benchmarking purposes, but if we were to review this board, our verdict would clearly be a foregone conclusion.

    Can I ask what wheel size and pully combo you used on your DIY board? 10s4p with 15t/36t and 100mm wheels has drastically lower torque and slower 5-15mph when compared to a 10s4p with 15t/42t and 83mm wheels. Top mph will of course be lower for the faster accelerating board.

    • @skatemetric627
      @skatemetric627  6 років тому +1

      Amelia Records 5:12 ratio with 100 mm wheels iirc.

    • @ElmaOrkestra
      @ElmaOrkestra 6 років тому

      Yeah, that feels too slow. You'll get 25mph but way too slow acceleration. For tight, short track race, a 5:14 ratio (15t/42t) with 83mm wheels is awesome. Yeah, tops out at about 20/21mph but off the line acceleration destroys any Boosted or Raptor. Ive settled for 15t/42t 100mm as a compromise for top end but with the small 83mm its like a rocket off the line and 5-15mph would easily be top of your table.

    • @skatemetric627
      @skatemetric627  6 років тому +1

      Amelia Records Oh, you're talking about the Foosted, not the 12S build. That uses 14:36 (probably shouldn't be reducing these ratios) and 85mm wheels. Its acceleration is very fast with the right current limits. You have to remember to account for that and motor KV.

    • @ElmaOrkestra
      @ElmaOrkestra 6 років тому

      You're using a 10s2P Meepo battery and ESC?
      Motor Max: 80 A
      Motor Min: -35 A
      Batt max: 20 A
      Batt min: -12 A
      Absolute max: 130 A
      Im running 190KV setup with similar currents. Just for fun, you should try a 3d printed 42 instead of a 36 on your Foosted. Cheapest way to get more acceleration 5-15.

    Although it's stats aren't as great as the Raptor 2 and other electric boards, you still recommend this as the "best non-custom e-skate you've ever used." I'm curious as to why? To elaborate, if you would be ever so kind to have reviews of the boards that outperform this and compare the value to the consumer on which is most practical in regards to cost and performance (speed, distance, torque), that would be super helpful in understanding why certain boards are still considered better than others

    • @skatemetric627
      @skatemetric627  6 років тому +4

      The Raptor 2 is just impractical and not particularly fun unless ridden on impeccable terrain IMO. It's insanely heavy, its deck is completely rigid, and its hub motors harm traction and ride quality. Fun on trails, but not so strong as a longboard and definitely not something you want to commute with if you're ever required to carry the board.
      I'd love to review the Raptor 2 in detail, but I'm not sure when I'll next get to use one.

    I'm buying my first board ever. Is the Stealth worth the extra $200 over the Plus? Or I could make the Foosted, but would that be too much power for a beginner?

    • @skatemetric627
      @skatemetric627  6 років тому

      If you're going to buy a Boosted, we'd recommend springing for the Stealth or perhaps buying a V2. The Plus is probably an excellent board as well, but you could save some money with a V2 and likely enjoy the skating experience more. We love the Foosted, but if you're just getting into the hobby, you might be better served with an off-the-shelf option.

    • @ashintar
      @ashintar 6 років тому

      the thing with the foosted is you can make it as wild or as tame as you want using vesc to adjust the power and torque. Once you get comfy with riding you can start turning it up more and more. Foosted will give a much more custom tailored ride compared the a boosted board be the flex choice and the wheel and power settings.

    The Boosted stealth is not a finished product and I’m starting a campaign to get a recall bc what’s going on is completely unacceptable. The motors bend on this board and I have about 5 friends all with the same issues. Yea boosted sends u new motors but that’s a temporary fix bc after 100 miles again u can expect the motors to bend causing a clicking noise that is ridiculous.

    i hesitate between wowGO 2S and Backfire G2S . anyone ?

    • @thomasjepsen6750
      @thomasjepsen6750 6 років тому +1

      I chose Backfire, The sanyo gets 5-10 km more range if you are about 70 kg. Backfire has good range without having to pay extra the board is Better qualtity, swappele ureathane, free 96mm wheels in the package. 8-12 Days shipping
      If you are getting the sanyo battery then price

    Yeah okay great review as usual but not to mention the ridiculous price when extremely similar performing boards are at third of the price is BS,the price of an item is a crucial part of its viability to most of us mortals.whatever.

    How come the Metro board isn't on your chart? I guess it just blows all the competition out the water huh.

  • @joelglass967

    It doesn't really matter that its a bit better than cheap china boards, it cost more than twice of a cheap china board for a little better torque etc etc its expensive, period.

    • @joelglass967
      @joelglass967 6 років тому

      SkateMetric that's true. But you still use stats from cheap and expensive boards, the expensive boards should be better but there not due to the price point.

      Joel Glass They are better... they're just simultaneously more expensive lol.

    I still don't understand why people use drag races as a method of judging it's power, unless you have two identical people it's useless.

    And no display on the remote
