Lyrics:
Did you wake up last night
Drenched in your own sweat and tears?
No, it's not always easy
You get lost countin' the years
Since you last felt like you were home
Since you last felt like you were home
Since you last felt like you were home
Oh, I thought you were home

Finally a song with Johanna singing lead - she has such a beautiful voice!!!
This is one of their best songs. They both feel the lyrics and the music as they play. It's really something special.
they never cease to amaze me 🤍
@@kalevala29 such beautiful music, I listen to it daily. It's really good. I wish those two women would get their love together again and do these types of things. Cedar Lane helped me from troubling times with an ex, this song gave me faith that they will continue with masterpieces. Yet, Im stuck waiting.
@@lancejones1925 I'm sorry. What do you mean by that? Get their love together?.
Sometimes, you hear something so beautiful it breaks your heart, in a good way.
Couldn't agree with you more.
Catharsis
First Aid Kit gives me hope for the future of music.
Those gals are amazing.
There will always be great music
Music scene is always expanding like the universe if u want to hear it look for it, it's there
Ed sheeran makes me lose all hope
The last line of this song is absolutely devastating.
"You get lost counting the years since you last felt like you were home, well I thought you were home"
No kidding. Even outside the context of the song, that line strikes so hard. I recently drove north into the mountains of Vermont for the first time in years, and this was blasting in my rental car... and that last line almost made me pull over.
It brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it.
Exceptional songwriting.
Love FAK.
Idk why I'm so drawn to songs that break my heart like this.
I heard this song for the first time recently while watching an episode of Sneaky Pete on Amazon Prime. I had to stop the video to get the name of the song and the artist. Absolutely one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Both female vocalists have amazing voices!
I have listened to this at least 15 times and every time I get goosebumps❤I am 61 years of age , met Patti in Cleveland on her Horses tour and never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would see her cry at a cover of one of her songs👋Bravo First Aid Kit!❤
Which song please?
I have always thought angels came from heaven but now I realize they come from Sweden. ❤️
always nice to see johanna getting more solos...and klara is great as always. love you guys ❤️
Solo? there is a band playing?
PanglossDr she meant more lines for johanna... my thoughts same... :)
guy's? i think you got the sex of the SISTERS wong, it should be written with a feminine ending, they are female after all. maye you should try 'love you ladies' if you want to be respectful and acknowledge them correctly ( after all you do love them...)
@@geoffmunn7591 "Guys" can also be used to describe a group or more than one person despite which gender is in the group. For example, a group of people can be 3 boys and 2 girls (or it can even be just girls or just boys) and someone can call out to this group saying "Let's go guys" referring to the whole group and not a specific gender (even a girl will call out to another group of girls this way). I am sure this comment knows that they are girls and I do not think they were being disrespectful in any way. Using guys to refer to a group is slang that many people use (where I am from). There are lots of articles about the topic of calling a group of people "guys" and most of them write about when it is appropriate to use and when it is not. This slang can be confusing.
@@TS-hg7fn Thought there was about to be a feminist argument lol very poignant explanation. People from different countries often don't understand the slang and can be off putting and some are just all about spreading divisivness wanting to enforce their worldview on you if you don't agree with them and use their terms. In either case, you responded perfectly for explaining the use of "guys".
They have given me a great gift. It's the realization that the kids of today are the same as the kids of yesteryear. Great singers and songs will never die.🌹🌹👍
I used to listen to this song and other songs by FAK on repeat a couple of years ago. Then, with my current situation in mind, one line came back to me: "You get lost counting the years, since you last felt like you where home..." And here I am again, listening to this song on repeat.
Always, ala Counting Crows, " it's always a lot of Oysters, but no Pearls"......still this is absolutely a Beautiful, Haunting Piece of Music.
It's crazy to me that a song can have so much emotional impact. I tend to like songs that I relate to. That lyric is heartbreaking.
"Nothing Is True, Everything Is Permitted" ~Hassan I Sabah (Illusory nature of ALL things, tangible & intangible.;)
So perfect. A hit no matter what decade you recorded it. You girls are just flying. Congrats
They both sing like Angels. I'm addicted to their music.
Man, the drumming on this…… brilliant.
I love how this starts with an intro claiming they were born in the 60s and ends with analog TV interference. I love their beautiful voices.
Not sure if I’ve heard anything more beautiful than this. Fantastic.
beautiful women and beautiful music. been with these two since their first album. they just get better!
Damn! The lyrics hit me like a sledgehammer!
Love that Johanna is featured more in this song. She sounds amazing. They
both do, but it's nice to hear more of her :D Her high range is stunning!
Wow - Alan Moore can really play the keyboard well.
And this series should be viewed by millions. Very special.
They have taken music forward to the past. Thank you First Aid Kit. Unbelievable.
Your music plays in any era on any planet
What´s happening to me ? I usually listen to Black Sabbath , AC/DC and Rammstein . Now i have listened to this song five times and i just want to hear more from these sisters ...
ua-cam.com/video/CLY7XZv92xg/v-deo.html
FAK are excellent! if you like the sibling harmonies in hard rock check out Larkin Poe, one sister is an international blue grass mandolin competition winner the other is the best lap steel / slide player I have heard. they tour with elvis costello and bob seger.
These girls have made a cover of War Pigs , Black Sabbath
They love rock music too! They also did a cover of Patti Smith's- dancing barefoot as well.
I am an old Punk from the early 80's and this band has me memorized......Crazy Shit.
I will forever ❤ you girls ,,you dragged my heart out of the depths of depression and made me look at things so differently,. Literally saved my life, I don't know how music has such a grip on my soul but it has me completely in your sway
I absolutely love these Rebel Hearts Club recordings, not just the songs themselves but also the little introductions at the beginning. Always making me smile and then I'm treated with First Aid Kit's amazing music. Thank you.
I get goosebumps every time I listen to them! Started listening to them a couple weeks ago, after Fireworks was on my recommended and I haven't looked back. Quickly become my favourite band, I can't stop listening to them.
same
the same here
They're best song. Heartbreaking.
Never in my life have I been as cool as that keyboard player. Great song!!!
It may just be their best song. Deeply moving...
Balling my eyes out to this song. I'm not a perfect guy but when a girl of 2 years lies, cheats behind your back, and completely rips you apart till there's nothing left of your heart, it hurts. And to be completely honest, I can't say how much longer I can do this but I'll try. I'll try. Your song is something that means so much to me and I thank you for that.
Hang in there my friend. Things get better. :D
Been there man. The pain heals but the scars stay forever. A lesson maybe. Peace shall come, don't worry.
Stay strong mate, may time lessen your pain. In my experience people who have gone through hard times and then change their life to the better usually end up having great character, personalities.
Try being with the love of your life for 20years, and then when i needed her most, i was out with the trash. That was 2013. I still dream about her every night and cry every day. I consider suicide 20 times each day.
@@A_Man_In_His_Van speak to your loved ones and remember stay true to yourself friend
When I first heard this on the album I was astonished at how much a song could resonate so strongly with me. Always making wrong decisions when it comes to love.
Just heard them live 2-1-18 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium (be jealous, everyone!) and they blew us away with a good, long show. Wonderful to see how Johanna has become a very capable electric bassist and I love how she sings more songs solo. But it's that sibling blend they treat us to that really gives me chills. Wait till you hear their cover of Heart's "Crazy on You!"
@Keith Hyman.
Here's one who's jealous, especially since Emmylou was in the audience, would have loved to sit next to her... :-)
And I'd also really like to have heard the cover they made of the Louvin Brothers.
Here's smart phone recording of it but the audio is a bit thin but better than nothing. I hope it sounded better live
facebook.com/mike.savage.104/videos/10156352886270827/
I didn't know Emmylou was there, Ken. FAK performed the Louvin Bros. song, "When I Stop Dreaming," for their first encore number. What a contrast from "Crazy on You!" It was just Johanna, Klara, and their mandolin/pedal steel player, Melvin Duffy, who also sang banking vocals. First time I saw Emmylou in person was at a Thistle & Shamrock show when we were standing in line to enter the auditorium (Blair on the Vanderbilt Univ. campus in Nashville); she was alone. Here I am standing right next to this stunning beauty with gorgeous locks of white, wavy hair. It took me a moment to realize who she was. Here: ua-cam.com/video/oxNaQjzA2to/v-deo.html
Thanks. I've seen Emmylou several times here in Sweden. The last time was at a place called "Dalhalla" 8/01/17. (First time I saw her was in Gothenburg at the end of the 70's). And, yes she looks wonderful in that white hair..... And this is why I knew she was in audience. instagram.com/p/Berq59oljJ0/?taken-by=firstaidkitband :-)
Keith Hyman I was at that show too!! Omg, absolutely one of the best shows I've ever seen. So good, in fact, going to see them in Asheville in September lol.
I had completely forgotten how good this song is - time to give Ruins another listen.
I thought it was just Klara singing, glad to see both girls took equal part in the song. Brilliant way to end the album!!😘
Jo is a great singer but the main songs in the album seem to be suited to clara
It's claras break Up album so I guess she's bound to get most of the singing
By far my favorite song on the album... so raw and true. Thank y'all so much.
My favorite new song. Klara is such an awesome singer but I gotta say, Johanna has an awesome voice and makes you wish to hear more of her.
Great song.
That drummer. 🔥🔥
What a hypnotizing voice, I thought it was Linda Rondstadt at first. Wonderful music and song, thank-you for sharing your talents with us.
Always one my favorites but even more seeing Johanna singing more
I just have to stop in to tell you that this is absolutely beautiful. When I first heard this song, on a TV program, my head snapped up as soon as I heard that wonderfully haunting voice come in. It sent all kinds of emotions running through me. As a musician myself, this one really connected and gave me goosebumps. Well done. This deserves so much more exposure. Bravo and thank you for sharing this. It made my musical world brighter.
This is my favourite song from the album (although all of the songs are amazing ofc), love hearing Johanna more as well in this but what really makes it stand out to me are the lyrics!!! and the whole arrangement at the end ugh amazing I love it, can't wait to see these girls live next month!!
Now I can hear Johanna more in this song. So beautiful! Love you guys and this song so much ❤️
They are both as beautiful as their voices.....
I swear that EVERY TIME I watch this video, and that is a lot of times, I am always amazed by Johanna's shoulder shrug and expression when she sings "my friends are getting tired of the shit that I pull". I don't think she wrote this song, but the way she sings it, it's like she doesn't really care WHAT her friends think! It just adds another layer to the idea that NHTBT...
Their music is so beautiful it moves me to tears. And there seems to be a theme developing of the most lush songs of all closing the album (viz. Stay Gold, and now here with this).
Awesome song. Great to see Johanna playing bass and singing more. Klara incredible as usual
As a longtime fan I'd say that this is probably their best song....
Sneaky Pete bought me hea !!! What an amazing song !!! Absolutely beautiful
Same
Me too lol
Vikito Sumi Same here bro. Had to pause the ep to look up the song haha 👍🏻
Cheers buddies
Fog you kaloo
All I can say is wow, just wow.
No song should be this good. Seriously, this song is unreal.
I love this whole album. These gals are wonderful singers and writers.
I’ve watched this every morning for the past week. No sign of slowing down. Obsessed.
My 60s queens! ❤️😁
I'm from Poland and I Love them both 😍😍
That's my song. That song changed me. I relate in my own way; so deep.
I’m so glad I discovered this band ❤️
Words can’t describe how wonderful they are... and Johanna OMG😍
Wow... just recently discovered First Aid Kid... My new favorite band.... Beautiful song!
What a f*&$ing tune this is. Perfection.
Sound, Solid Music Structure, combined with Devastating Lyrics, that force the Listener to reExamine their own Existence. Absolute Stellar Vocals, and Arrangement.
The presenter at the beginning is the uncle (on their mother's side) of the girls in First Aid Kit, Kristofer Lundström, a well known TV personality in Sweden.
Beautiful voices and song as always Klara & Johanna, you are fantastic!
Absolutely blown away...go Sweden!
Heard this on Sneaky Pete and it was so beautiful I had to look it up ❤️💔
Great series! Great song!
She says she gives in easy.
These two are awesome great singers
My Gosh, this is Beautiful, I can listen to it over and over...
We have been so lonely so afraid not anymore our love survived we laugh and smile we hold each other close and blessed with our own family stay safe xx thank you first aid kit
Klara is so beautiul. I just cry every time she opens her mouth.
Me too. One day I will buy her a drink. It is my lifes mission
Every song of this album, hits me emotionally like a tir
A wonderfully beautiful song. Reminded me of friends old and new.
Wow. What a voice
So glad my sister introduced this band to me 💜💜
Sounds great . . Blessings ! !
I believe Klara is playing the guitar that Jack White bought for her in this video. He told her to write a song on it and this was the song she came up with.
Judging from the logo, she appears to be playing a guitar built by Swedish luthier David Sundberg www.sundbergguitars.com/ here. Seems unlikely that Jack White bought that for her. Are you perhaps referring to the 1928 Gibson with a mandolin-like headstock that she posted about (in terms of it being wonderful but too expensive) and ultimately ended up playing? Didn't know JW bought that for her - but perhaps doesn't seem too unlikely. Where did you read about that?
Found the article and picture. It appears this is indeed the same guitar in the pic and talked of in the article.

“Nothing Has To Be True” was written in Nashville. We’d been to Carter Vintage Guitars where we saw this incredible guitar. It was a custom made, one of a kind Gibson from the 20s with gorgeous star decorations. It was the most beautiful guitar we’d ever seen. The price tag was no joke though. We posted a photo of Klara holding it on Instagram. That same night we had plans to meet up with our friend Jack White. At the end of our dinner, he told us he had gifts for us. He had bought the guitar (!!!) as well as a beautiful mandolin to go along with it. The guitar came with a note that said “write one for all of us on this piece of wood.” So we did.
Thanks for the link! Pretty clear it's that guitar, I'd say. You can also see Klara playing it here: ua-cam.com/video/E0uRPsV4-Vk/v-deo.html
(In this video we're commenting on though, she is indeed playing a David Sundberg guitar.)
Dudes, Joe Walsh gave Klara the guitar at the end of the Eagles tour. I was there .

So so beautiful.. love the retro vibe of the videos..
Just a brilliantly written song.
My favorite song on the new album. Love it.
Singing into my eyes. Such a powerful song. And what a masterpiece of a video.
This has always been my favourite FAK track. It finishes the album perfectly and the last minute of the track is in my opinion the best end to any song I’ve heard. I always have to play it twice and the louder the better. Amazing ❤ Merry Christmas FAK, stay gold 💕
Favorite song as well. So beautiful. Seeing them in may and I hope this one gets on the set list
@@holyvacant1427 you got tickets!! Well done. Very jealous.
I preordered the full album last year, drove around in my new Volvo with my wife and kids listening to “Its a Shame” on our way to Ikea...I didn’t know this was the best song on the album until just now.
My fave off the album
This is my favorite from them, I LOVE it! The live version of this from Palace Theater is the best!
Saw the show in Philly, PA one year ago tomorrow. Please come back soon!
A living, breathing masterpiece (except for the noise at the end; it may be conceptually needed, but I could do without it). PS - Hem of Her Dress is another one. A wonderful album.
what a beautiful song.
Favorite off the new record. Lyrics hits close to the heart.
Those girls are looking awesome for being 50 yrs old!
Wow ! These cord changes are...........perfect. Their voices are.............perfect. Their melody..........perfect.
This video is pure quality of music
My favorite song of the new album. This will probably be favorite album of 2018. Let's see. We only in January but it sounds awesome.
Absolutely awesome. You ladies have a good group of performers in your band too. Excellent musicians.
These girls are a mood! Love them so much
"Born in the 60's..." I Wikepedia'd that so fast I almost spilled my beer. ... was about to consider immigration to Sweden... then I realized the title of the song.
Nothing Has To Be True... :-) :-)
I so want to spend the rest of my days there. You can have the US BS
You mean emigration to Sweden, not immigration. Emigration is when you move to another country, like you want to do. Immigration is when you move from another country, like you would from whatever country you currently live in.
Sames
@@danman6669 Actually, it's the other way around. And which is correct is essentially based on the motivations of the migrant--an emigrant is typically someone whose goal is to leave a specific country due to adverse conditions, particularly persecution, danger, or poor economic conditions. An immigrant is often considered to be someone who is migrating with the goal of reaching a specific country, often for economic opportunity or other appeals that the country may have. The difference is pretty semantic and doesn't really matter, but people trying to correct others without knowing what they're talking about is a big pet peeve of mine
Helt underbart!!! Tack
Lyrics
Each and every breath we take
A step towards death and the moon is pale
And we might have seen something
But we ain't seen nothing yet
And I may have dreamt it
Or it may have happened
When I stood right here
Waiting for a sign
For me to walk away
But I give in so easy
And I give up instantly
I chase what is gone
And my friends are getting tired
Of the shit that I pull
They say "Why do you love those
Who turn you into a fool
Why do you let them get to you
You should have been running
When you chose to stay"
Now I feel so far away
From the person I once was
I thought love was enough
You can tell yourself so many things
And nothing has to be true
Did you wake up last night
Drenched in your own sweat and tears
No it's not always easy
You get lost counting the years
Since you last felt like you were home
Since you last felt like you were home
Since you last felt like you were home
Oh I thought you were home
Chills
Amazing, amazing song. Music like this makes me fall deeper in love with music.
Meninas VOCÊS cantam muito!

I should have left her before I did. By the time I did, it was too late. 'You should have been running, when you chose to stay'. Too right. 'You get lost counting the years'. Thank you, Klara and Johanna, for easing me through the bad times.
