Creators of the scenario were asking themselves how to nerf Byron during the 2nd and 3rd season, so they decided that he couldn't use heaven's time against an unknown player coming from nowhere in the chaos team (nepten) so that his unstoppable attack move could become weaker, then for season 3 they decided to make Mark learn a new technique (again coming from nowhere) -> Ikari no Tettsui (no story before was explaining why suddenly he got this technique to stop the chaos break). And if I remember well I think Byron didn't even use the heaven's time during the 3rd season match ...
Also, Byron doesn't have same type bonus as he is Wood, while Torch also gets same type bonus and double super effectiveness (move-move and player-player).

@zifric Yes I agree Travis did nerf them by benching mark and yes it was hinted at. However, I still stand on what I say. Moreso, even if Mark was in goal - it is hard to say the end result. For what? Mark would have needed to be taking on Atomic flare from Scorch, God knows and God break from Aphrodite, 2x Chaos breaks..... like respect on Mark's name but that would have been tough. Like, during the alias academy act: we saw Scorch effortlessly beat Mark and (potentially) if he played - what Travis said to him may have weighed on his mind [hence he may have not played with a focused mind]. But I stand by what I said. Plot armour covered Mark's hide.

3:18 Type matchups, Darren used a wood type move (mugen the hand) which was weak against Torch's fire type move (atomic flare) but the wood type move is strong against Byron's wind type move (true god knows), meanwhile Mark uses earth type moves which are weak to wind and strong against fire, so he would've saved atomic flare but lost to true god knows
Fr, I love their designs so much and pairing them together was such a great move, they should've faced them later in the story tbh and should've given them better teammates as well, besides the captain the entire team is useless
I personally think that instead of making Mark pull out a new move (which keep in mind doesn't do shit once we get to the main tourney) it should have focused on how to stop them from getting off the shot in the first place.
