36 years later and it still brings a tear to my eye, I was 15 when we won in 1986, and it hurts that this is still our last Premiership, hopefully that will change soon.
I never got to see / understand the glory years (too young), but hopefully we see it again sooner than later. Will be interesting to see how the next few years pan out… hope we can build on the development
80’s Eels, what a team! But Try being a sharks fan! I’ve Been a fan since 1990 & had to wait 26 years for a premiership!
Great little documentary. Hopefully in my lifetime I’ll see my Eels win one.
What is it that Bad Santa said? Wish in one hand, and shit in the other.
Yeah, ive never seen this great club win a premiership and i just really need a gf win
Hopefully this year, our parramatta eels will win this grand final to put eels where they belong since 35 years
@Tyler Weston yeah I saw the list he's resting 9 stars💙💛blue and gold army💪
@J G aw no This guys back after 2 years, I love both soccer and footy, have no no.1 sport
Not a Parra fan but an awesome doco to watch.
The best Era of League in my opinion.
Kenny was my all time favourite, he was never noted for his defence, but he never ever let a try in or anyone get passed him, some of his defence in the tests in England was amazing
I was an immigrant kid, and couldn’t speak a lick of English. This was the first game of football I ever watched. Parramatta won, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Sterling, Kenny, Price, Groethe and Mick - what a group of legends.
Gosh. They are champions. Manly supporter here. Parra we're/are amazing
What a team. How tuff was price.
Parra for Eva
Parramatta in those days were awesome to watch, the best era of the club. I loved the way Sterlo gave great praise to Paul Taylor, I loved the big heart and tackling prowess of such a small and lean man. After he left Parra he disappeared- I wonder what happened to him???
Anyway I am 57 and watched the Eels all my life let’s hope that the next time they win a premiership will be in my life time!
Go Parra 👍👍
I would have Paul Taylor in my team any day. Was a very good player, and so underrated.
I remember Paul playing for Penrith in 1990.
Paul no runs a successful landscaping business on the Gold Coast..well done Legend
As a long time parra supporter i loved these days and i love this club. Every year i am positive we will win one again. I would like to give a big wrap to the halves sterlo and kenny are my absolute heroes and then you look at players like pricey, cronin, ella, guru, wynn, everyone on the same page makes for a premiership winning team . Half my family were bulldogs and we are Parramatta supporters woodville rd being the divider between Bulldogs and Parramatta supporters. The players now need to make there own history and ill be supporting them all the way . GO Parra for life .
Got to speak to Ray a couple times couple years ago, great man Go Parra
Fantastic watch from UK eels fan
I was fortunate enough to watch that whole 80's battle. I went absolutely berserk when Parra won in 1981 against Newtown !!!!
So are we gonna burn down CommBank on Sunday night? Party like it's 1981, hey 😂😁🔥🤣
I was there! lol , fans were taking bits n pieces of the stadium for souvenirs , it was awesome.
Superb doco... and even saw footage of myself sitting behind the Fosters fence at Belmore vs the Dragons.
Brett Kenny = Legend
I was only 9 years old in 86, hardly even remember it. We've been so close a few time since., but I really feel this year, we have all the right..... everything.
Well at this point now we're out of the finals we can't win it 😔
At least it was a sort of good year
@@thechickengoat2 this year though ..
What a year
What a team
How magnificent PARRAMATTA
WAS n still IS 💛💙💛
💙Parra 💛 Parra 💙 Parra💛
True word's our LEGENDS SEZ💙💛
I love watching that old Eels team, even as a Panthers supporter
Yeah they were a great team that year
I bet you'd be happy with Penrith in the grand final this year
That 86 side was full of superstars. Grothe, Ella, Cronin, Kenny, Sterling, Price.
1986 That year I went the night before the grand final and slept outside the SCG me and my mate so we can get a good seat what an atmosphere it was? Amazing and great memories
Yeah no fixed seats then hahahaha i was there outside the SCG by 4am waiting , great memories
What a great show thank you. I’m a Parramatta fan from start until my finish. In 86 at the time of our last Premiership I was 17 at Kapooka Wagga Wagga doing Basic training for the Australian Army didn’t get to see it but heard about our win and it drove me on.
2022 premiers baby! We got this!!
😂
The good old days. They will never be again.
Now we are there 💙💛
Now has finally come Sterlo come Sunday night parra will be premiers again go parra!
I have vague memories of going to the opening of Parramatta Stadium in 1986 as a 4 year old with my Maternal Grandparents. Watching this is making me emotional.
After being at the 81 GF all day. Then going back to parramatta leagues club.
My memories of the night are still vague.
But my memory is crystal clear of the stand at cumberland oval going up in flames.
It was pandemonium there that night, but something I will never forget. Great times!
Great documentary on that legendary Eels team of the 1980’s, that did the double in 1986.
I attended the 1986 Grand final, tight game, but a great game.
I really miss the pageantry of the old grand finals. Introducing the players from each team onto the field, the sprint races before the even, the giant flags in the crowd. Nothing will ever compare to that stuff.
Born in Parramatta 16 years of age when we last won it they will always be my team
Thanks. Absolutely terrific presentation. Sterlos comments regarding certain aspects of his actions and thoughts during the game were interesting. A Sincere Gentleman of the game.
I love what he said about Ray Price too " He was the greatest player Parramatta has ever seen....... He left no stone unturned in his own pursuit of excellence , and he expected everybody to be the same . ". ...Let's see if we can get the premiership this year hey . We're in the final ! Let's Go EELS!!
Thank you for the memories
Bring these legends back !!!!!!!!!
Go the Mighty Eels
That backline omg, in this days fitness', how good.
I saw them win this they went hard in that game.
Parramatta Leagues Club watching the GF on the big screen. My Hon winning $250 on the pokies, leaving her bag on the stairway and having it handed in with all her winnings. Then the team arriving victorious from the SCG. On the piss with the players in a private bar and not being able to pay for anything. Thank you Eric Snr. for your friendship and making it all happen for us. Cheers!
Great doco...thank you....
We look good this year. We look really good this year.🤞🏽
We did look good this year
But we didn't make the grand final
@@thechickengoat2 we did this year
@@romeoreuben6601 We did, but it could've turned out better 😔😔
@@thechickengoat2 still hurts 😭😭
Ray Price = Terminator , they just couldn’t take him out no matter what they through at him
I was there that day , and have been waiting for our next win , we were ripped off by bad refs in 2009 v melb , this is our year , as long as the refs dont fuck us over again , we can win this year
And the refs fucked us over by given penrith so many tackle restarts and not giving Parra restarts for the same thing
NRL needs to start doing these docos for all the seasons, like NFL do
I was there at the grand final amazing team and amazing atmosphere.
Unfortunately this was the end of a great era for the fans and the club, the only people we can blame for that is club management who have put their personal interest before the club and the fans.
Today we have a bulldogs fan running the club amazing that shows how bad the joint is.
While every club uses their greats our club is pushing them away to protect their position.
let's go boys make or break year I'll back you all the way 💙💛💙💛
Brett Kenny's ball carrying arm touched the ground before the try zone, so it wasn't a try even today. Also Phil Sigsworth should only got sin bin and not sent off. Kenny milked it well.
We'll win this year!
It was a brutal try-less game and was typical of the era which was defense focussed. As a lifelong Parramatta fan I remember all the GF’s and that golden era was so special. I hope to see them win again but I’m not getting any younger and the club are not well run these days…alas.
Sea Eagles supporter here, but I'm putting $100 on Parra to win the NRL Grandfinal in 2022.
shit! You must be feeling nervous lolol Go eels
Bro if you get this right...
Let’s do it again in 2021 boys!!
The amount of Vaseline on ray price is insane lol
Eels please one day break the drought
Imagine how happy sterlo and the 1986 team would be but Parra losing the gf hurts alot😭😭😭😭😭
Up the Eels! 🇺🇦🎉🎆
I like the fact that 1 of the greatest teams in history will remain a part of folklore. Let’s hope Parra lose so that Cronin, Price, Kenny, Ella, Grothe, Sterling, Wynn, Muggleton et al, live on! 👍
Heard alot about this crop of champions !! I mean Bertie and Sterlo ........ what a pairing !! And you throw Price and Cronin........ what was it ?? If it ain't the dogs, it's the eels !!
Parra did have help from the ref who sent off Sigsworth and then sin binned Peter Kelly from the Bulldogs .. Only managed a 4.2 victory ..
Bulldogs were lucky they disallowed two eels tries ref kept them in the game
Great doco.. but that try was def double movement, u can see his arm ON the ground, with hand/s on him.. n then moved over top n put ball down.
I remember the Sea Eagles 64-12 win at Parra Stadium
That ended Parramatta
Wached this grandfinal outstanding game no trys hard Football
13 July 2021: There are 175 likes and 1 dislike. The ONE dislike must be a Bulldog fan. 😁😁😁
Go Doggies! We won in 88, 95 and 04. Parra haven't won one since.
Ah who's higher on the ladder?
Still haven't done three in a row like Parra
3 stadiums in 40 years, including 2 brand new ones. Has there been a Sydney club given so much?
🙌🏻💙💛
The Invincibles
Bulldogs very tough........But also very very dirty
That was just the 80s wasn't just the doggies that were dirty
@@jasonfrisken7606 Yes , that was the "style" in the 80's , But Bulldogs were next level dirty.
Don't remember any other team being busted for wearing the hard plastic / fiberglass shoulder pads
@@a.s.etaboo8769 fair call we did push the boundaries Peter Kelly would probably still be tougher than most going around in our team now 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
They will break south's record of 43 years
hated Mick Stone now I miss him who needs a bunker with good ref and two good touchies
Dogs only lost by 2, would have been 3 in a row for them but in 84 they only won by 2 otherwise would have been 4 in a row for parra.
luv the NRL and have for 36 years. But it is not fair to the fans, players, sponsors and advertisers. Expecting fans to watch second rate games during origin is an insult. Then watch inconsequential games after that is disrespectful. The players are flogged all season then expected to perform perfect in the finals…We need a home and away competition. 1. Sydney conference 1. Domestic conference. No byes, no split rounds. Stop half way for origin for 1 month have a game every 9 days. Top 5 from each conference finals. Then internationals. Without viewers there is no NRL vote with your feet and eyes. Boycott the NRL during the split round and byes fiasco. We need to lower there revenue to make change 🏈
Now we have an incompetent board, failure of a CEO and a clueless football manager, i bet whoever they appoint coach is a dismal failure, missing Bennet was a disaster
Most of these blokes will have CTE.
The best team in the world
Maybe in the 2080's we'll a grand final again 😁
(as long as we don't go bankrupt)
They were lucky the game didn't go another 5 or 10 minutes
@Sebastian Bivona at least you're honest mate, we'll never know but I'm sure the doggies were fitter and they would have scored if the game continued for a bit longer
Ifs and buts though, Lamb missed a penalty with 5 to go, if Cronin kicks that straightforward penalty in 84 it ties the game at 6-6 then who knows…
If you can't get it done in 80 then to bad, plenty of opportunities early on,all Bugden had to do was look up count numbes and pass to his left...
CRONIN Hugely overrated couldn't tackle or catch forever knocking on and dropping the ball , slow running back .
win 4 comps mate more than you can say about heaps of players
Where the veiod ref those days just like o conner in 87 state of origin game 1
Almost fuck up the season with souths almost lost the minor premiership but lucky that's it
