How someone says that never heard manowar before and call himself a metal head?? It’s like saying I am into metal but never heard Iron Maiden ! Not a single true metalhead had missed listening all the early 80 heavy metal bands
It happens. My nephew is 20 and he never heard of Maiden, Manowar, the big 4, Motorhead etc. I barely scratched the surface of the early 70s with him. By the time he is 30 I hope to show him the early 80s.
I actually think it is a generational thing, I don't think we should gate keep, if you like metal music you should be able to call yourself a metalhead if you want. We're not even gonna go into that sometimes people are just into a certain genre of metal thus maybe they're not gonna involve themselves in everything on the metal scene. I personally grew up only liking power metal or the classic old school heavy metal but I broadened later and got into folk metal and various sub genres. Some people just absorb the music slowly and have different stages. We must not forget Manowar and Maiden are really old bands at this point. This is where the true test comes for longevity which is why I think it's a mistake of manowar to milk their music.

One of those bands that totally kick ass and get you rocking and throwing up the horns, but the lyrics will occasionally make you roll your eyes. Undeniable talent IMHO
For a black metal guitarist reaction i would definitely rather suggest the epic Bridge of Death (and nope, not because of the lyrics) but because of the overall vibe between vocals and guitars)

Later got a couple of Cds from Immortal which were not bad but not my cup of tea (I prefer Abbath) I like more melodic stuff like Dissection, Dimmu Borgir. I got some friends rrally into the scene so I tried many time, but I feel nothing like when listeting to other thrash, power or classic heavy metal bands.
Hey man, love your input on on the genres. Would love to see you react to Annihilator's Crystal Ann/Alison Hell. It's a very technical piece of thrash and metal history that is considered one of the most important works of the genres. Also would be great to see you check out some Dethklok, the parody death metal band.

Listen to songs from Into Glory Ride, Hail to England and Sign of the Hammer. Pretty raw production wise so you as a Black Metal fan might enjoy. That era of Manowar clearly influenced Bathory. I know Quorthon denied that but "Blood Fire Death" literally quotes several Manowar lyrics word for word 😅
@@jim7174 Manowar are considered one of the founders of US Powermetal. For context, basically none of the music that's considered powemetal today (gloryhammer, sabaton, etc..) are actually powermetal by original definition, and kind of leads to some argument within the genre and fanbase themselves

Though in power metal in general things tend to be a bit blurry between the lines of heavy, speed, and prog metal overlap at times
I've never heard that tour story before, except for one where they were dropped from a set without their notice or notifying audiences and the band sued them for it, so it might be false; But I can't say that with 100% certainty. They adore their fans and never stop touring, and dedicating tracks to them. As for their quality of music, its steller and well played, but a decline noticed and believed by fans was made when Ross left after this album. Then eventually Karl "the sex offender" Logan joined and, while he's defiantly a skilled player and all, he couldn't hold a candle to Ross. I belive a decline started when Scott Columbus died, but that's just me. Someone else said it but some Crystal Ann/Alison Hell would be highly recommended, as would anything else from Annihilator; I may be biased cause I adore them, but they produce some really heavy, fast and headbanging tracks, while also having some softer more calm tracks with emotion played in them
Ross was def the best but post Ross Man0waR have numerous great songs ! Triumph of steel is an album Joey couldnt have produced with Ross. It needed a speedster and Joey ever since, has been hiring shredders. Neoclassical ones.
@@musicbynaush I suppose so, and while I do love albums post-ross, they suffer the flaws of repetition. So many tracks are about killing, praising the gods, and dying for glory. So much so that once you hear one, you've basically heard them all. The only thing that differentiates them is the music which is usually pretty good. Something I've noticed with Manowar fans is that most fans are Stans who think the band and Joey are literal gods who make flawless after flawless albums; Which is of course not a bad thing and I don't want to stop others from enjoying what they like. What I am saying is that the die hard fans all seem weird; Kinda like hard Metallica fans, but weirder if you get what I mean.
Check out Ren & Sam Tompkins- Earned it/ Mans World/ Falling. Its not your usual cup of tea but the guy has soul. The top comment says "the guy with the guitar, he is music music consumes him" and its true.

Completely two different things Iron Maiden and manowar is POWER METAL VS HEAVY METAL!. Now blind guardian klaus is good but Erick Adams is a legend and so is this band if you’re into power metal and don’t know manowar you know nothing!.
