I’ve just begun seeing the dentist again after COVID and three months ago I had X-rays and a root canal. From the X-rays I could see the tartar buildup on my teeth. I decided to do something about it so after I did a bit of research, I bought a waterpik. As a matter of fact, I have this exact unit and the difference In my dental visit in 3 months was amazing! I didn’t tell my dentist that I bought one but they could see the difference in my gums and the amount of plaque on my teeth from this visit and the last. I hadn’t had a cleaning in more than 3 years and they expected that I was going to need a deep cleaning which would have taken place over two session but the cleaning I had lasted less than 30 minutes with the tech telling me that there wasn’t much buildup at all! I absolutely hate that I wasn’t told by my dentist to buy one of these long before b/c the Waterpik works wonders! I highly recommend that you get one!

Why would a dentist tell you to buy one? They are living off your cavities - "drill, fill, bill" - is their daily mantra. I bet they hate Waterpik, while using it themselves :)))
Just FYI, the tip you demoed is called the pik pocket and should never go above a 2 in terms of power. Otherwise, you can truly hurt your gums. Fine with all other tips to be at 6 or so. Most pik pockets tips have a modulator such that you cannot go above 2, but then you’re straining the motor.
I put peroxide and plax in my water pik and it works like a charm....I'm 49 and still have my teeth ....I had the old one too and upgraded to that exact one you have. Trust me, I'm a caregiver and all the elderly I took care of that had all their teeth even at age 90, used the water pik !!!! Its key to heathy gums and teeth
Lol. Why on earth wouldn't you have your teeth, at age 49?? My parents are around 70,and still have their teeth, obviously. They don't use any water flosser. I m in my mid 40s, and love my water pik. I m pretty sure I d still have my teeth, regardless 😂
I am giving you an honest review after seeing this video some two weeks back. It really works!! O and I am a dentist and I recommend this to my patient with refractory gingivitis which is pretty non responsive to conventional drug therapy. Most of these patients have low glucose tolerance too.

Interestingly and sadly I have had dental issues since I was a kid. And even in my 60s I still get cavities I’ve had root canals ,extractions ,crowns you name it. The good news is I’ve been told that my hygiene is great and my gums are in good shape but my teeth continue to give me grief. And I’ve come to think that my mouth/teeth has been a big contributing factor to other health problems🦷🤕😩. I do have a water pick but I will switch over to your suggested one. Studies find that EMF and fluoride damage dental cells and lead to cavities and periodontal disease, as friendly microbial systems are put out of balance. Salt helps much. I could never find a pic that could handle salt without it wearing out too fast. Hopefully the "Flosser" model will suffice. UA-cam blocks my links, but you could find "Fluoride causes periodontal disease"
I’ve used inexpensive drug store hydrogen peroxide as a mouth wash for years, and it helps to whiten teeth, plus in my waterpik. Will have to try adding salt.
I also love the Real Salt company but I cannot fully dissolve the salt in even HOT water - it contains a small amount of hard (light orange colored) particles that seem insoluble even when ground as fine as possible. I have put a portion of the RS in a glass measure, adding boiling water then stirring and finally pouring off the top leaving the hard deposits behind in the bottom of the measuring cup. Thus I have Real Salt solution without the real hard bits! (Little more work, though.) So my easy solution is either Kosher salt, Eden sea salt or NeilMed Sinus Rinse packets. And it definitely helps to clean out the Waterpik occasionally (per manufacturer instructions) to keep hard water deposits from choking the device eventually. JUST SAYIN’

I have this very water flosser but never used salt. Will add that tonight. Do you think the temperature of the water matters? Growing up, my mother always recommended warm water and salt for any problem inside the mouth.
I have the older Waterpik model to your left. The reservoir does come off. Also it also has a button on the handle that prevents it from spaying everywhere until you put it in your mouth. They really haven't changed Waterpiks except cosmetically for over 50 years. My parents bought our first Waterpik in 1972 and they've always had a removable reservoir. It didn't have a on/off button on the handle but all you had to do is not hit the on/off bar on the unit until you put the pik in your mouth. It's a great invention but nothing new.

As per my idea we must dissolve the salt separate in warm water and add to the water. Tank chamber..i like bit more warmer than lukewarm, and make sure it doesn't burn my gums...
Hey Mike, using Celtic salt, liquid probiotics and bicarb in the water with the water flosser absolutely revolutionised and turned around my and my partner’s health.
I'd steer clear of saltwaterflossing. I did so with my waterpik twice daily; my teeth started staining + yellowing outwards from gumline. Possibly enamel erosion. Stick with warm water.
Great topic. I have your old waterpik and have used it for years. But I use a little hydrogen peroxide in my water instead of salt... before bed every night.
I like my waterpick alot too, it's not just you. How much salt you put in. I started puttin 1/8 to 1/4 tsp of baking soda and it make a big difference, try it.

Salt also dries things out right? Your mouth needs the correct amount of moisture or cavities can form. If you disagree, how much sea salt do you recommend in a 600ml tank- just a pinch? I think the real key is consistency- brush, floss 2x a day is winning. Rinse with water after eating, drinking most of the time. Basic common sense. In what order to you Floss, water floss, brush, gargle?

I think that salt steers natural microbial ecology towards friendly microbes (which are a large natural array). The gums normally cultivate such an ecology for scavenging and protection from unfriendly microbes. Like pickling saline solutions do and the "stinking rot' is avoided.

carnation_cat I buy a two pack at sams club that are 32 oz. each for 1.50. And I buy two or three at a time it’s less than 5.00 and will last a long time. I don’t find it to be as harsh on my gums as some of the other antiseptic mouth wash’s plus it says right on the hydrogen peroxide bottle “oral rinse”
@@carnation_cat She's right it's a 1:1 ratio if you have a infection. If it's just maintenance than it's less 1:3 ratio. 1/2 tsp. in a waterik is not going to do anything.
Why don't you just put high concetrated saline solution instead of this? I use it in my waterpik and it does a great job. I also use it for nasal irigation. I tried salt water too for mouth rinse, also good, but not a better option in my opinion. You have to be carefull which salts you use and how you prepare it with water in the right ammount.
I don't have a waterpik its another make but my dentist has noticed my teeth are so much better....😊 i can't floos because my bottom front teeth aren't straight and i never got it fixed when i was younger😣😣 but they are good

Mike, are you psychic or something? I just learned about water flossers a few days ago and I just got back from my dental hygienist and totally forgot to ask her about them. Now I'm pretty sure I need one because my treatment hurt like never before, I was bleeding a lot and I'd probably been walking around with inflamed gums for more than 6 months. Time to take action! Thanks for making people aware of the Waterpik flosser. I think they may be a life saver to many.

Do you use regular toothpaste & mouthwash along with the Waterpik? I recently cut out my Crest toothpaste and switched to brushing my teeth with sea salt, flossing, and using the Waterpik. I also found that my facial and throat swelling went away after I stopped using toothpaste. My teeth are a lot cleaner too, strangely enough.
Many years ago there was a UA-cam video called Bad Bugs 003 or something. I think its gone now. He showed how to set up the waterpik with baking soda, sea salt, and iodine. I have to start doing that again! Can't find that link!

you can premix the solution in a separate container and than wait a few minutes and the heavier sediment will fall to the bottom and you can use the rest in your waterpik.
Just today I got the H20 floss waterflosser. Looks ALOT like yours AND it has 2 nasal irrigators tips!!! Could I use real salt for them? Couldn't I also use Himalayan pink salt?
Waterpik always break on me. I went with the Panasonic portable ones which fold in half and the build quality is much better than Waterpik. So far it's out lasted my last 3 Waterpiks.
@@KillerofGods Chop the salt in a blender to turn it into a fine powder and place in a sealed container for storage.. Estimate the volume of warm water required to fill your Waterpik reservoir. The water should be as warm as you normally tolerate. Blend up to 1.5 tsp of your powdered salt into the warm water. This step MUST also be done in your blender - manual mixing absolutely WILL NOT WORK. Pour the resulting saline solution into your Waterpik reservoir and use as normal. The saline solution MUST be free of any crystals/ precipitation or you have done this incorrectly. FLUSH the machine with FRESH WATER after EVERY use.

Local health food stores and restaurants in my area used to carry a free newsletter-type booklet (Natural News, maybe?) that included ads for local wellness practitioners- you could keep your eyes open for something along those lines. Otherwise, ask other wellness practitioners and, if an internet search doesn’t work then you can always look for dentists who are open about being fluoride-free offices. I’m just happy to have found an office that actually asks me if we want fluoride.

Plaque on teeth doesn't cause Alzheimer but it can be a sign that there are plaques accumulating in soft tissue like brain and arteries. Stress, sodas and conditions that lead to osteoporosis can demineralize bones and without supplementing with Vitamin K, Vitamin D and Magnesium such minerals do not attach to bones but instead cause tartar build up and plaques on arteries and brain.

Dean - I’ve read that using hp can loosen amalgam fillings, so beware, if anyone has any of those.

I mix xylitol with water ,Sometimes hydrogen peroxide. Everyone should use water pik for oral hygiene.
Can I use plain old table salt instead?

I use my water pick by making up 1000cc of warm water with 2 tablespoons of sole salt water and mixed 1% dilution of Hydrogen Peroxide.

Any opinion on oil pulling? I do it daily with coconut oil.

Do you use regular toothpaste & mouthwash along with the Waterpik? I recently cut out my Crest toothpaste and switched to brushing my teeth with sea salt, flossing, and using the Waterpik. I also found that my facial and throat swelling went away after I stopped using toothpaste. My teeth are a lot cleaner too, strangely enough.
I am for a more natural toothpaste, Crest etc... have some odd chemicals in there.

Many years ago there was a UA-cam video called Bad Bugs 003 or something. I think its gone now. He showed how to set up the waterpik with baking soda, sea salt, and iodine. I have to start doing that again! Can't find that link!

Hi Doctor! I never use anything even toothpick or dental floss to touch my gum because im afraid that can damage my gum or create spaces between teeth. Would waterpik safe to use for my gum?
Yes, just get it. Trust me it saved my teeth and gums especially if you are not a flosser you need it along with regular cleanings.

No, no, no! Vinegar is acidic and will degrade your tooth enamel!!!
you can premix the solution in a separate container and than wait a few minutes and the heavier sediment will fall to the bottom and you can use the rest in your waterpik.
Don’t use vinegar on your teeth. Maybe a cap full of peroxide diluted in water

Waterpik always break on me. I went with the Panasonic portable ones which fold in half and the build quality is much better than Waterpik. So far it's out lasted my last 3 Waterpiks.

Mike, if you'd like to SIGNIFICANTLY intensify the saline solution without clogging or damaging the Waterpik pump, I can explain how I do so.

@@KillerofGods Chop the salt in a blender to turn it into a fine powder and place in a sealed container for storage.. Estimate the volume of warm water required to fill your Waterpik reservoir. The water should be as warm as you normally tolerate. Blend up to 1.5 tsp of your powdered salt into the warm water. This step MUST also be done in your blender - manual mixing absolutely WILL NOT WORK. Pour the resulting saline solution into your Waterpik reservoir and use as normal. The saline solution MUST be free of any crystals/ precipitation or you have done this incorrectly. FLUSH the machine with FRESH WATER after EVERY use.

Local health food stores and restaurants in my area used to carry a free newsletter-type booklet (Natural News, maybe?) that included ads for local wellness practitioners- you could keep your eyes open for something along those lines. Otherwise, ask other wellness practitioners and, if an internet search doesn’t work then you can always look for dentists who are open about being fluoride-free offices. I’m just happy to have found an office that actually asks me if we want fluoride.
