Crazy that a 10K bike would have those funky bars and stem.

PF92, integrated cable routing that is even worse than headset routing, stupid shock placement that's hard to access with open side to the mud and restricts aftermarket shock compatibility, ridiculously short chain stays. The design choices are just repulsive. Thanks for the review.

You can push the lockout further inward and then spin the dropper lever towards you,so that the lever is closer to your natural thumb position.

The bar and stem config with the cable routing - it nearly defies logic, truthfully.

I agree about stem and handlebars. Personally I’m only 160# and prefer 31.8 40-50 stem and 760-780mm . I don’t see the need for 35mm diameter carbon bars and like the flex I get from my ENVE,Renthal and SQ Labs bars that I have in my quiver.

I will say I agree on the cable routing and being able to change bars and stem. I ride a 2022 Scott Spark and I opted to change the bar from the one piece. Scott makes a slightly different top spacer to put a regular stem on there. The Scott stem is the same as one piece design at 0 degrees since I have the trail version 130/120. cable routing on the Scott really is not that bad and I am able to regrease the top bearing pretty easily. If I needed to change it then yes big PITA. Overall, cable routing is no biggie on the Scott, but I am liking the Flight attendant suspension on the new Scott Spark to get rid of the extra cable for lockouts.

On the berria mako bike, you also have the internal routing off the cables throu the headset. but the cables go inside bij the top cap of the headset so you can run youre own bar and stems. is all the same Across headsets and you can buy the right cap to do that

I loved having a remote lockout but when I replaced my fork w/ one w/ no remote lockout - I didn’t miss it.
I had a race bike with similar geometry (low front-end) and I HATED it. I gave it to the local NICA team, they can probably use it. LOL

it seems like a pure xc race bike with the very low front bars, integrated cables where a pro mechanic can take care of it.

How low of tire pressure do you run with those tires/wheel combo?

About 19 psi in the rear and 17 in the front.

turn the bars upside down, then you have a 15 degree rise :) I can't stand bars that are too low.

I recently had a talk with Nino Schurter here in Switzerland, and he was on his Scott Spark special edition.
      If I remember correctly, he did run -40° / 80mm / 700mm 😁

I get the hands and wrist hurting!! I have med salsa timberjack and med Fezzari la Sal peak. Both just bother my hands and wrist. Had a buddy give me different bars and stems. Just can’t get it right. Makes for tough and not fun riding when hands/ fingers get numb.

Clint, I know it’s good to review various things and to give brands some exposure, But no ones buying this thing and no ones looking for it. Theres no point. Who wants a bike with some dudes full name on it? 😂
Per the site “He chose the name Cougan because it is very similar to cougar, one of the symbolic animals of the North American wilderness. The culture of mountain biking quickly grew beyond US borders.” ….uh Who cares 🤣

Should bike companies warranty their frames lifetime or for 5 years like some by companies do. What's the warranty this bike
