Yer dun! It was a blast revisiting this game but it also was a painful experience. In all honesty though, booting up the main title screen and hearing that soft piano in the background made me genuinely emotional.

Funny enough the gameplay was my favorite aspect of this game. If it wasn't your cup of tea I recommend playing its dlc Torna: the golden country which streamlined a lot of aspects about the combat
I've heard good things about Torna. If I'm feeling particularly nostalgic one day I may check it out. I do miss these characters a lot
Just so it's clear and out there, there are 3 Xenoblade games. Xenoblade 1, Xenoblade X, and Xenoblade 2. Plus there is Xenogears and Xenosaga. Xenoblade 2's definitely by far the tonally most upbeat of the games. The other games don't really have glorious moments like "I love you and all you guys," but a lot of the issues I have with 2 aren't nearly as present in the other games.
Xenoblade 1 is probably the most universally praised of the Xenoblade games. Xenoblade X is considered to have the best gameplay and the weakest story. 1 has the least amount of "know what you're getting into" among the games. With Xenoblade X, play the sidequests and know that the appeal of the game comes from exploring and seeing the pretty scenery (Uraya is in my opinion, the prettiest location in the series, but Noctilum and Sylvalum from Xenoblade X get really close). All of the games, you should keep in mind that they'll be really long regardless on if you do sidequests (they all took me around 100 hours, but they're all pretty similar in length).

If combat is your biggest issue it might be worth buying the season pass. It gives you advances difficulty options that allow you to decrease enemy health bars and change the game so that enemies don't engage you on their own.
Plus Torna has more of those Characters you liked.

@@JohnsDogTags The Torna expansion is the season pass, it includes the full Torna game, more indepth difficulty options, the Land of Challenges (includes fanservice Blades + ubnlockable costumes for the main cast), new Blades, and additional sidequest and goodies. It costs 30€/30$ if you buy it trew the E-shop or 40€/40$ as a standalone cartrige.
First you make a goblin slayer video now a xenoblade video. I found a good channel. The combat is a common complaint about xenoblade 2. It suffers the old it gets good after 10-15 hrs jrpg thing. Though I don't remember having problems with enemy HP being too high. It is very slow to begin with since auto attacks speed is tied to blade affinity. Like another comment said tornado is a fantastic expansion with a more mature story to tell. ALSO THE COMBAT IS SOOOOOO MUCH FASTER! At least setting up orbs to do stupid damage. That was a major pitfall for the basegame setting up combo orbs and break, topple combos were never properly explained and there isn't a tutorial menu to achieve them. Torna on the other hand has this menu.
Another thing I dislike is some of the first humor was a bit much for my taste. But enough with the bad cuz I loved this game. Like you said the characters are such a huge draw with this game. I like almost everyone of them. The Welsh cat girl was super unexpected in the beginning, I'm sad to admit but I didn't like her at first. But she quickly became one of my favorites sooner than later.
BTW judging by your reaction to Territorial Rotbert I'm gonna guess you never played xenoblade 1 have you? I'm not sure if you were interested but xenoblade 1 has that same exact enemy in an early area. Guess monolith soft left him as an Easter Egg for xenoblade 2. Xenoblade 2 is a game I fell in love with but xenoblade 1 is something I consider to be a masterpiece. Fantastic soundtrack, fantastic story, and engaging gameplay. The first had a very different gameplay but the only thing really retained is break/topple/daze which even xenoblade 2 altered a bit. Sorry about the written speghetti on this comment it's hard to stay on track when comes to xenoblade related topics. Xenoblade 1 is getting remastered in late 2020 with xenoblade 2's art style.
I’m glad you enjoyed!! These longer review type videos I really like making since I get to talk about things that I’m passionate about. I’m going to buy Xenoblade when the remaster comes out for the Switch. I will probably end up streaming it actually. Also I’m glad that you feel the same way about the characters. They strike a perfect middle ground between being relatable and cheesy, but always entertaining
@@JohnsDogTags xenoblade to me is like crack to crackhead. I bough the base version of the game and the limited version of the game along with the physical version of the expansion torna. I think I have the digital version downloaded as well.
It's good to here you're interested in the first one. My first experience was watching chuggaaconroys let's play of it. Back in highschool a few years ago. My only regret was not playing it till his lp finished. I just hope Nintendo doesn't update the Voice acting the first game has very well done voice acting, especially Shulk's screams they are really good.
Also in xenoblade x you have "hayreddin, the territorial" in the starting area and suprise suprise, its a level 81 ape
