! awesome job crin ! i encourage you to look into non-linear tilt for the diffuse field target. ideally, the tilt would follow a gradual slope instead of a linear one to better emulate the air absorption of higher frequencies of anechoically flat speakers (with good directivity) in a good room. All this to say the roll up at lower frequencies is less and the roll off at higher frequencies is more gradual. I think you should try it yourself and form an opinion. Thanks again!

Someone on 4chan suggested -0.4dB to -0.5dB tilt with +8dB to +10dB bass boost to be the closest to Harman 2018 OE (with some extra bass for IEMs). I think -0.5dB tilt and +8dB bass is quite neutral. You can compare with IEMs that are considered more or less neutral like for example Moondrop Chu 2, Truthear Hexa, Truthear Nova, Blessing 2 Dusk, Blessing 3, Moondrop Variations, Monarch Mk2 using crinacle's graph tool. A steeper tilt such as -0.8dB is not necessarily wrong either, like if you imagine that you're listening to speakers in a smaller room you would get more of the lower frequencies as they bounce against the walls while the higher frequencies dissipate at a higher rate. For the best results you should also use additional EQ filters to cancel out your ear canal resonance.
Was looking at your home page and the keep audio button was blinking enough to be branded in to my adhd brain. Good for some other shops though, considering I will not mind paying more for not using keep audio

I have lots of friends who listen with Apple white earphones and think they sound great, until I let them hear some of mine, then they want to upgrade but not spend much money to do it. Kz ling long is dirt cheap. KZ ZVX and D-fi are amazing for $20 as well. Don't get the Moondrop Chu, it's now outdated. Crin tuned the Salnotes Zero, that's very very good too. Wan'er is apparently better? And then the truthear hola. Apart from the Chu all of these will be amazing for less than 20
yeah don't get the Chu's. not only are they treble boosted, they also have a metallic timbre, no detachable cables, and moisture issues can mean that they might die on you within a week something like the truthear hola (least upper mids, most bass), tangzu wan'er (more upper mids, less bass, but also cable quality could be better), or salnotes zero (even more upper mids, even less bass, but weird 13-14k treble peak) would be a better idea
Welp this is interesting also im thinking of buying new iems or headsets with mic what are the best ones under 100$ for all around type songs or fps games i know i might be asking for to much but if anyone has recommendations ill gladly look forward to them thanks😁
It's interesting to learn that the theoretically more accurate measurement device reports less bass than its predecessor. Maybe there's more to the idea that most people like more bass. Maybe that's actually what would measure as flat if you could replicate their ears.
That's kinda what I'm noticing. I recently bought a pair of CCA CRAs, and EQ'd even MORE bass (particularly sub-bass) into them. I theorize that the 25hz note would peak 15-20db above the 1000hz note on a graph if I had the ability to measure it, which leads me to believe based on how the 5128 setup shows the 7hz Zero graphing, a +5db per octave rise from 500hz to 4khz coupled with a +5db per octave rise from 400hz down to 25hz would be the new "flat" given how the new figure is showing 5db lower than normal from 1000hz down, and how most people that "like more bass" want their sub-bass peak to be 5-10db above their upper-mids peak.
@@Rorensuwl8 where the peaks and dips are in the high treble depends on your own ear and insertion depth, which AutoEQ can't know. Insertion resonance peak isn't just a measurement artifact, it's there in what you hear as well.
The harman target is great for mass market consumer products where you want to appeal to as many people as possible. i'd really like to see a range of targets, between 5 and 10 of the most popular and preferred targets, so the manufacturers can build products that more closely represent what people want
