The little knife looks remarkably close to what I would know as a Sgian Dubh ( pronounced ski-an doo ) which is a traditional and now ceremonial Scottish knife. It used to be carried in a sleeve under the armpit and concealed for use in either last ditch scenario's or in places where regular weapons are frowned upon or outlawed. It has since become a ceremonial part of the traditonal Highland dress ( Suit/outfit ) and you can usually see it on the outside of either calf tucked in to the hose ( socks ).
