They terminated their contracts but they just have to finish their promised activities around the end of this year. That's why they're still working under ADOR...
All the smiles and joking around is busted by this episode. Feels like displaced stress from NJ trying to leave Ador & striking out on their own. I.e., she feels safe in letting out all her pent up anxieties at the airport because it's a place divorced from her actual troubles. This way, she doesn't have to face the troubles of her own making head on.
