So much Biblical wisdom in this song. I'm 74 and am blessed to have grown up with a sound track that included the Byrds, CSNY, and so many other great groups. RIP, David Crosby, you gave the world such a magical gift--your music!
Years ago my clock radio woke me up playing a new song called "Like a Rolling Stone". I was an instant fan and still am 60 years later. Diamonds still in my ears. His lyrics are pure poetry.
I saw Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young in '76 at Varsity Stadium in Toronto. Great show, and I found myself grateful at one point when David Crosby stepped into one of the ongoing guitar battles between Young and Stills with a searing solo of his own. Also saw Roger McGuinn as part of Bob Dylan's 'Rolling Thunder Revue' in '75: they played 'Eight Miles High', and that distinctive Rickenbacher 12-string sound was just as front and center, particularly in the John Coltrane inspired solo. Rest In Peace, David Crosby 🙏 😢 💔 ❤️🕊🎶
JK - Yours is a fitting tribute to Dave Crosby, and fortunately for all of us there are many other songs to admire and remember DC. For me, both CSN and CSNY are foundational members of music's greatest performers since the 60s. Thank you, JK and Harri, for this tribute. RIP DC
Well you made me cry before this started, as soon as I saw David's name. I am heartbroken 💔 with his passing. CSN, then CSNY carved out my love for music from the 60's onto this day. So many tunes that were absolute masterpieces and had the best blends of angelic harmonies. Its seems lately we lose another amazing artist too often. This was a lovely tribute for Roy Orbinson. Your philosophy is right on Harri. Thanks Harri and JKClark. Cheers from Canada. 🇨🇦
I feel blessed, not saddened David was part of my music life from the early days until now. At 73 I am blessed to have heard his middle harmonies and guitar work for most of my years I am blessed
RIP David Crosby you crazy, beautiful human being 💔😪❤️🩹 CSN & CSN&Y we’re part of my teen years when the musicians & singers really helped bend & shape us! David was such a harmonized, you couldn’t help but sing when you watched the groups & singing a Pete Seeger song that is such a popular folksy song that still gets crowds up singing & clapping 👏 It is sad we are losing so many of our favourite people, but what is wonderful is the music we were gifted by these amazing artists! Thanks Harri for playing these songs from my youth & paying tribute to another talented artist 💎☮️💜 love from 🇨🇦
No disrespect meant to his huge talent, but David Crosby was more crazy than beautiful. He had a lot of issues and a notoriously bad temper, often directed at his bandmates. He was kicked of the Byrds. His downward spirals were likely the result of his excessive drug use, and he even spent time in prison for drugs and firearms.
My Croz story. I'm 62 yrs old and have followed these guys since I was big enough to know who they were. A few years ago I saw Dave on twitter and saw how personable he was with people and I stuck up a couple of conversations with him and yes it was him and not some pretender. He would have this thing where people would send him pics of their joint-rolling prowess to judge on style and uniformity etc. Because he was a legendary roller and toker. Had his own line of weed. Anyhoo he was always about family. Music ,family and politics were his main interests and he was a good fellow even though he himself admitted to being an asshole most his life.
Thanks for this, Harri. I am devastated by David’s passing. He was the king of harmonies. Pete Seeger wrote the melody for TTT - lyrics from the Book of Ecclesiastes. In David’s last 25 years, he had a large output of solo albums with his groups CPR and Lighthouse. LOTS of concert footage of them and phenomenal. Very Steely Dan like. Please react to some of those. I am especially fond of his CROZ album. He found his long ago abandoned baby son and discovered James has amazing musical talent. He is all over this record too.
I love this. My first live concert was the Byrds in 1968 when I was 15. Later I saw Roger McGuinn's live show in Philly, early 90s. It was at Penn's Landing, open air venue, pouring rain, and everyone soaked and singing. It was a spiritual experience. RIP David Crosby. My musical heroes are all leaving us.
David Crosby didn't grow his moustache until after The Byrds. And he didn't have one when he was in prison. I feel so privileged to have seen him twice in concert. RIP David.
Jan 19th. The day my music died. Thank you for all you were and all the memories and music and entertaining and putting your life, warts and all, out there. God I'm gonna miss this man. Sorry, but I'm trying to put this down thru tears. Thank you for this tribute Harri.
The official video for Cold Irons Bound has so much of that sign language between the band members. Mostly every member of the band is watching Bob and they respond to his head tilts and body language. They are tuned into his every movement. It’s really something interesting to study! Good song too!
Look at some old photos of The Byrds to see David without his iconic mustache, he looked like a cherub. The same year this was recorded I saw him in CSN at Lake Compounce in CT. A few years later I got to see him again touring with just Graham Nash. He was always relaxed and having fun onstage. Give a listen to their early concert album "Another Stoney Evening".
HE WAS FAMOUS FOR THAT INFAMOUS MOUSTACHE HARRI! LOL 😊THIS WAS LIKE A 25 YEAR LATER REUNION FOR THESE GUYS SO! 😊 I'D BE SMILING TOO, ESPECIALLY WITH 2 HUGE TIMELESS AND MEANINGFUL HIT SONGS! R.I.PARADISE TO DAVID!
I saw old footage of the Byrds where David Crosby has no mustache. He must have grown it since before CSN started. I would appreciate if you could react to the new song video released by Floor Jansen, Invincible, that is about PTSD. I think from your reactions you are a very empathic person and could give an insightful reaction to that song.
Generally accepted that Roger McGuinn invented the FolkRock catagory of popular music when he Electrified a Twelve string guitar while playing in Grenich Village, New York. Then he started the Byrds.
The three words I have heard the most, both with Beck and now with David Crosby? "This one hurts." This video felt good though, and it is good to celebrate his beautiful life of challenges overcome. 'Night Captain!
So sad to hear of David Crosby's passing away. Nice to see this live version with his first band the "Byrds". Fitting to have Bob Dylan with them as they recorded a lot of his songs. Hope you do some of the songs that David Crosby wrote when with CS&N. "Wooden Ships", "Guinnevere", "Long Time Gone", “Déjà Vu“.
Harri, look at this video of the Byrds on the Ed Sullivan Show on Dec. 12, 1965 to see David Crosby WITHOUT his moustache......... ua-cam.com/video/PnstCrL1_e0/v-deo.html David is on the left wearing the cape, then from David, left to right is CHRIS HILLMAN (blonde, on bass) , GENE CLARK ( playing tambourine, he is deceased), MICHAEL CLARKE (on drums, also deceased) and ROGER McGUINN (singing lead and wearing blue glasses) Now that DAVID CROSBY has passed, there is only CHRIS HILLMAN and ROGER McGUINN are left. You see them here in your reaction, only CHRIS' hair in this performance is his natural curly hair. Back then he had it straightened as you see in the ED SULLIVAN SHOW video, and ROGER McGUINN is the one again singing lead on your reaction.
You talked about the sign language between musicians. Could you please react to Sign language, song Dylan gave to Eric Clapton to record, and sang with him? Thank you Harri!
The virtuoso john Jorgensen is also playing the electric 12 string Rickenbacker reinforcing and thickening the overall depth of the track which normally would only have Roger McGuinn playing the Rickenbacker on the track.
I wish McGuinn had the good grace to let Dylan take the lead on a couple of verses. Not only did he write their first big hit, he also penned 3 of their first 7 top 40 hits. I think David may have also expected him to be given a lead vocal by the way he stepped completely back from the microphone they were sharing and motioned to Bob to move right up to it.
I think that's Bob being Bob. You look at it and Bob misses the beginning of that verse, and is only dropping in phrases throughout, many mumbled. Bob really engages when Roger leaves his own mic, joining him on David's mic, duelling back and forth. Not sure they knew if Bob would sing or not.
When David was in jail they made him shave. Seems like Bob just got there as he walked on stage! Not prepared lol. Too bad David and Chris didn't get along because their voices together are as beautiful as Crosby & Nash. We will never know.
Harri, there are youtube videos of the Byrds performing Mr Tambourine Man back in 1965, when Crosby was clean shaven. And very young. Here's one: ua-cam.com/video/PnstCrL1_e0/v-deo.html
Still hoping for a tribute using David's live solo of "Almost Cut My Hair" for a piece that focuses totally on David's talent alone. ua-cam.com/video/m-FPrmh5E8k/v-deo.html

Just a sidenote: there are plenty of pictures of young David Crosby with no mustache when he was in the Byrds.

This brings tears to my eyes. Thanks so much Harri, for the good cry! What an era to grow up in! ✌🏻💀
Look at the Byrds first couple of album covers and you’ll see him with no mustache
R. I.P David Cosby
Those with ears shall hear....great job Harri!
David Crosby seemed like he would live forever, despite the odds. So sorry to hear of his passing -- the quintessential hippy imo.
The twelve string leading the way absolute magic !
A stage full of icons.
Thank you Harri for a great reaction Love the Music ❤ Brings back memories from way back 😊❤
Anyone who performs with Dylan is usually thrilled to be there! 10:59
That distinctive guitar sound is Roger McGuinn's 12 string Rickenbacker
Would love to have been at that concert.
RIP Mr Crosby

The Byrds also is a fantastic band. I can also recommend their song : Eight Miles High. I'm sure you will like it. Enjoy this fantastic music. 🎶🎶🎶👍
With Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and George Harrison in music heaven...how can things be better? 🎶💖🎵
OMG, I just wish I could have been at that concert !!!

Roger McGuinn has such a beautiful soothing voice
You need to react to "Rock and Roll Heaven" by the Righteous Brothers in 1974. It was a tribute to the great singers who passed away at that time.
I love The Bryds, but it could never be a reunion without Gene Clark who wrote all the early songs by them and sung most of the songs....RIP.

Thanks Hari . I’m still waiting for someone to do a song written or sung by Coz. I’d suggest Wooden Ships by CSNY…Just sayin.
You talked about the sign language between musicians. Could you please react to Sign language, song Dylan gave to Eric Clapton to record, and sang with him? Thank you Harri!
This classic song is from the Bible Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Roger is the 1st singer and playing the 12 string. He interpreted Bob song
The virtuoso john Jorgensen is also playing the electric 12 string Rickenbacker reinforcing and thickening the overall depth of the track which normally would only have Roger McGuinn playing the Rickenbacker on the track.
Harri, if you Google The Byrds , there is s picture of the original members and David Crosby does not have a mustache.
Chris Hilman is on bass. He created the Flying Burrito Brothers and Desert Rose Bands
I noticed, until Dylan came onstage, that Crosby never took his eyes off McGuinn once.
I wish McGuinn had the good grace to let Dylan take the lead on a couple of verses. Not only did he write their first big hit, he also penned 3 of their first 7 top 40 hits. the Rickenbacker 12-string never sounded better
When David was in jail they made him shave. Seems like Bob just got there as he walked on stage! Not prepared lol. Too bad David and Chris didn't get along because their voices together are as beautiful as Crosby & Nash. We will never know.
If there is an afterlife, they must really be rockin' with the additions of Jeff Beck and David Crosby, goodbye Titans we won't see your likes again.
Hi there. What about that 12 string amazing sound?😋
Thank you
In the Byrds, Crosby did not have mustache in 1965/66.
Gene Clark was NOT onstage, he died a year later.
Who knew Jeff Daniels was such a great singer?
I think David started growing that mustache when he was six and still had it when he died.

Roger is performing the song
That Byrd has flown.
That's the name of a bio of Gene Clark founding member and writer of all the early hits by them
As usual Bob doesn't remember his own lyrics 😊he needed a litlle help from David ✌
Harri I love your work. I hope you don’t mind me mentioning that you are pronouncing Dylan’s name incorrectly. It is ‘Dil-an’ not Dee-lan. Cheers
Roger is playing lead
I think Crosby grew the mustache after he left the Byrds
You thought wrong
Cros grew his "stash" while with The Byrds
