I grew up in West Helena Arkansas just a few miles from Marvel which was Levon Helm's hometown. Of course I did not know either one, but understand them and their inspiration for their music. Nothing like the Delta to bring out poinant music. It was such a beautiful place then. I miss it terribly. The Band was easily one of the all time greats. Thanks Mr. Robertson you will be missed ....see you in heaven one day.

Saw the then Hawks, backing Dylan in 1966 here in Perth in Western Australia. I was 15. First half was Dylan acoustic second half full electric. I had just bought Highway 61. Dylan slid off his piano stool playing Ballad of a Thin Man but didn't stop. They were all stoned.

You would have to mention the video from the early days of the band playing at a mental institution and how he and Poison Ivy (the guitar player) met and how they collected obscure vinyl especially 45s and how they gained fame in the eighties with the erotic performance of Tear it up in the movie Urgh,! It's a Music War. ( Make sure that you look up this performance and watch it). Also the fact that he didn't get to enjoy the world wide viral fame they recently had when the Addams family daughter Wednesday danced to their song Goo Goo Muck. He passed away a few years ago. I got to meet them and I filmed them at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. Also have great pictures I took at the gig plus pictures of me with them when I met them
