I went there too! Another Deb. There were loads of Deborahs back then! You’re right about it being like St Trinians. We went on strike once ( everyone else was on strike - must have been 1979) and we all sat on the grass at the front and refused to go back in. Those poor teachers!
The old black man on the banjo and old Irish guy on the spoons used to perform on market st for years, when they had a few cans they got better. They were entertaining and spontaneous, they just played and got into it,2 old fellas 2spoons n a banjo, they were mint.I miss em and always remember them,God bless I bet they are not with us anymore.Real Street characters.
As soon as I saw that lead photo of the terraced houses, I thought Levenshulme. I lived on Elmgate Grove in a health hazard student house in 1987. If it’s not that street, it’s the one next to it.
Hi Adam, I'm making a documentary about what happened to the parts of the Hacienda when they sold it off at auction. All of my profits are going to Kidneys for Life & Cancer Research. Do you think I'd be able to use some of your images from this video if I credit you? Many thanks Chris. www.doyouownthedancefloor.co.uk
Yes, you can use provided it is only for the purposes you indicate and not for personal profit i would be honoured please credit my father who took the pictures, Mark D Smith.
Hi Adm, many thanks. All money I make covers the bare min costs to get it made then everyting is going to Kidneys for life and Cancer research. so thanks, and yes I will credit Mark D smith. Cheers Chris
Hi Adam, would it be ok if I sent you a form to sign just to say it's ok to use the footage, at no cost, I'll include an SAE and send you a poser for the film to say thanks :)
Census information since 1991 shows that the White British proportion of Manchester's population has declined as follows; 1991 85% 2001 74% 2011 59% Given this rate of decline the British will by now be an ethnic minority in Manchester and it can no longer be considered a British city in any meaningful sense.
Ooooh nooooo, diversity, more people working and paying taxes, more chances to learn different cultures and lifestyles and become a wide community through many different stories of places we may never see outside of a screen, how ever will us white people cope with more people being born in Manchester with a skin tone any tone darker than pale af, or not even from England itself, shocking, we won’t be able to cope, brutal. How dare people be born in Manchester, England and not be inherently white! (If you cannot tell, I am being sarcastic.)
Got any pictures of piccadilly records when it was in piccadilly gardens?
Wow Levenshulme station on Albert Road ,used to walk that way to school in the late 70's. Levenshulme High for Girls, it was like StTrinians.😂😂😂😂😂

If my memory serves me well, the man who caused the siege in Levenshulme worked as a bouncer at Deville's nightclub in Albert Square.
