If I was newly homeless I think I would sleep in a graveyard for safety. Of course I have too many family and friends for that. God bless those who don:t. Great video I really like the looks of that cemetery. Having actual employees there probably helps protect the place. Thanks for thinking about their privacy I respect that, your a good man. Keep up the good work. All the best.
When you initially saw the road/dried creek bed, if you notice, all of the tombstones face that direction, which means at one time it was a road or the tombstones would have faced you and the road that you were walking. I'm surprised that you didn't find steps up to them, from that road, unless they were covered from washout. Great videos! I only got locked in one, once! So, I learned to park within view of it, if the timing was within a few hours of "closing", cause you start walking around and hours go by...LOL
Matt, I had a similar experience here in Bloomington. I was in Rose Hill Cemetery where two lanes of the cemetery formed a "T" there was a man sleeping on the ground under the lowest branches of an evergreen tree. The tree has been removed and the gravestones there can be seen now. Another time I went past the cemetery, saw some American flags that had fallen over or were leaning so as to touch the ground. I went in to put the flags upright again on another occasion and found a crack pipe.
The Fowler obelisk is for the Moses Fowler family. Moses Fowler was a prominent Lafayette businessman. For many years has house was a museum. I remember going there several times when I was little. They also held a festival on the ground called the lafiesta. If I recall correctly there was another large obelisk in that same Cemetery for a family by the name of Earl. Adams Earl was also a prominent Lafayette businessman. He owned a mansion by the name of Earlhurst. Earlhurst was around until the 1970 is when it burnt down to the ground. By the way that little cross has been there for many years. I took a photo of it when I was photographing that cemetery for findagrave.
Yes, definitely Celtic. I have actually run across partiers in the back part of our historic cemetery, you just never know. At least he found a nice quiet place to rest.... lol Thanks for the share, enjoy!!
third part of the series, again a variaty of markers. The big obelisks really stand out, guess the people buried were important to the area , must have been very expensive to put these in the cemetery back in the day.Beautiful Celtic cross with the knots, typical Irish in style.Must be strange to find someone sleeping in the cemetery during the day.Great explore Matt. The building made from te natural stones fits in perfectly, same style as the mausoleum at the entrance.Must take a lot of time to build something like that, craftmanship.Love this roadtrip through indiana ( and surrounding states ??). Beautiful scenery, tranquil, desolate...the other side of the very busy US which a lot of tourists or visitors never get to see.on their 4 week tripin a RV across the US ( from east to west). Thanks for taking us with you on this roadtrip Matt.Looking forward for the next roadtrip.Keep safe.
Large one piece monuments, such as the obelisks, only became available for memorial markers after the establishment of railroads to bring such markers from the quarries and craft centers to the burial grounds. There are many pictures of large monuments or pieces of monuments being transported through Barre Vermont on their way to the railroad depot for shipping elsewhere. Once the marker arrived by railroad to the destination, it had to be taken off the railroad car and transported to the graveyard, where again it was an engineering problem to erect it. And yet the ancient Egyptians were making, and moving, even larger obelisks thousands of years ago, without the benefit of railroads or power equipment.
I find it interesting to see what's over the hill or around the bend. You never know what you may find including overgrown graves. You can't possibly stop and film every grave anyway. Thanks for another interesting video.
Hi Matt, that definitely would have creeped me out too seeing a random body just lying in the woods of a cemetery like that. I mean what are you supposed to think when you come across that type of situation so close to where loads of people are buried. It's actually a very well maintained place, not too many markers are damaged in the section we saw today. Most cemeteries close at around sundown and obviously throughout the year that time will change so that's probably why there was no times on a sign.Thank you for sharing. x
I assume you're talking about the tree? I remember when I was little it was common to burnout a tree stump after a tree came down. It was the most efficient way of getting rid of it. I"m not sure that's what they did here though because they never removed the burnt wood. Maybe it was dead and was struck by lightening. You never know.
Ya need one of those grim reaper things to cut back some of the overgrown stuff like that little road. Plus you’d look awesome actually using one in a cemetery.
Another great one, Matt! Thanks for the info on the Celtic designs. There is something similar in our cemetery that I pass by every time I visit my family plot. I always wondered what the design meant. I love learning from you. How scary to trip over a body, tough!! Glad it turned out okay for you.
Thanks Matt for sharing with me this video about Hidden Road & Surprise Encounter in Historic Graveyard it was a very interesting video about the grave yard. and i can't wait to see your next video and God Bless you and thanks again.
Idk that roadway might of been a timber road from a awhile ago? Who knows. I would of kept the clay for the flower garden. Yea you don’t want locked in lol.
I really wish you could focus more on many of the graves you bypass. Yes finding hidden graves is awesome, but so are focusing on the memory of the others who have died. By the way, do you contact the cemetery and let them know that you found graves in the woods?
Well that was creepy running into someone like that. Beautiful cemetery. I did not see dates on the large towering markers or the celtic cross were they very old? That building was so wonderful with all the stone work. Keep Safe❤Keep Well❤
How come you dont look at the gravestones? I would have liked to see the name on the monument one and see if the stones around it were related. Love your videos.
If you ever decide to come to Milwaukee you might want to go to the Forest Home Cemetery we have a number of the beer barons that are buried there Schlitz Blatz Pabst the Frederick Pabst is not buried there because he was lost at sea it also has the Hall of Presidents there is a tour of that you can actually take and there are Civil War soldiers buried in it there is also a small Chapel that's located there and if you look in the windows of the chapel there is a old fashioned hearse that was drawn by horses beautiful piece of work so yeah if you're ever up around Milwaukee area stop and Forest Home beautiful Cemetery also you need to keep yourself safe please
This particular cemetery is right off of a busy road and just about a mile or so away from an interstate highway. If this was a homeless person that might be why.
That's most definitely a Celtic Cross with Celtic symbols on it, here's a few if you'd like to look at them and their meanings mythologian.net/celtic-symbols-meanings/ :) That's one really lovely memorial stone! Another great video, thanks Matt!
I don't know it looks awfully groomed like it's been mowed the stones look like they've been weed-eating around them looks like somebody's done something to it what state are you in that tells you a lot too beautiful Cemetery

Loved that thanks. I really liked the cross that was done from the tree
I wondered the same thing

Good day 539 Production. Becareful and keep safe. God bless 😇 you.
Very green and beautiful looks like it is mowed often real clean!

Question. Why was that burned out ?
It's interesting to see that tree cut down and formed into a tree. Good job.

@@mamiebobb4173 thanks for sharing your thoughts. God bless 😇 you.
Could that road possibly be the original entrance? Just a thought. Great adventure again.
Another great find, love the cemeteries you walk us through, and the mausoleums too. Take care, God bless you. 😊
This one looks kind of spooky and sort of haunted. Maybe all the woods?👻👽cool video. Thanks
Thank you 539 Production for sharing this creepy story of the cemetery. Until the next adventure. God bless 😇 you and keep safe.
Great video!👍🙋🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Stone building might be a chapel used for funerals. Some southern cemeteries had gazebos to let people get out of the sun or rain.
That might be, would be a good place!
I like that explanation.
Unsettling vibe here, interesting finding someone sleeping there, awesome video ❤️✌🏻😊
Enjoyed the video thanks Matt for sharing. Stay safe.

A Scythe.
Otherwise known as Satan's weapon of Death.
scythe
It's a nice example of a Celtic Cross and the Celtic knots symbolize eternity as this is no beginning nor end to the design.

Thank, you!
Thank you for sharing!!!! I bet that was scary and surprising to bump into him.

Neat place and seems pretty well maintained, but it also seems somehow....off? Something just seems strange. Anyway, great job as always. Stay safe!
Oh please be careful!
I watch all your videos and have never been scared but this cemetery gives me the creeps.
Looks like that , it's the only muselleum that's there. Is it safe for you?
There was a Jerde marker directly to the Celtic momument.
WOW love this cemetery!!
I am really enjoying your explores.
interesting and fascinating cemetery tour thanks for sharing
You know Matt, I really miss you man. Your videos are great. And your voice, I love your vocabulary of words. Becky in AL. 💀
Really nice old cemetery I would explore this myself loved it thank you!
Appears someone left a coin on the burnt out tree stump.
The grave is definitely Irish and yes it's Celtic
I was about to say - a classic Celtic cross decorated with Celtic knots. You called it right Matt.
I was thinking Welsh. But you are correct, it is an Irish Gaelic surname.
There is a particular Celtic knot called a lovers knot

Hi Matt! How are you? Fine I hope! Becky💀👻
Ive seen some scary Cemeteries on UA-cam but so far yours have been really lovely. Did you see that man again when you were walking to your car ? 🌿🍀🌿
They have a green burial there so that might be what the road is for because it’s in a special section of that cemetery
I would have screamed like a banshee if that happened to me! How about if he had stuck out his hand and grabbed your ankle?!
I really wish you could focus more on many of the graves you bypass. Yes finding hidden graves is awesome, but so are focusing on the memory of the others who have died. By the way, do you contact the cemetery and let them know that you found graves in the woods?

Of course at the very end you look at gravestones. Lol

Yes being Irish it is called Celtic knots or symbols
Thanks, Kim!

why would you sleep in a cemetery to creepy plenty of other places to go
This particular cemetery is right off of a busy road and just about a mile or so away from an interstate highway. If this was a homeless person that might be why.
Not much traffic - less likely to be chased off, and safe. It is easy to forget how homeless folks are likely to be victims of crime.
Probably related to the Grimes

Do you think wagon trains went through there ?
The vincent price of headstones.
Coffelt25 going live only graveyard and fart pranks
I was wondering when you were gonna pop up on someone in the woods. Creep factor...100%
This video creeped me out. I am not sure why.
An O.B.E. ? VISITING THE FOLKS.?
Why is it these "healthy" homeless folks sleep during the daylight hours? Will this guy you stumbled on wake up later and wander around all night?
