When my kids were young, we climbed all over 470 in Waterville. Can't wait to ride when she's living again! Steam locomotives are the closest thing to a living, breathing machine!
Your last video was so excellent, it was our inspiration to move forward. We are siblings in steam restoration, and have learned a great deal from the 765 operation. -R.Glueck, Pres.,NESCO
@@PRR5406It's awesome to see more than two steam groups supporting each other. It's all about being bros and teamwork, as a volunteer from a Railway Museum, myself.
A wonderful video! Congratulations to the restoration team for all that has been accomplished to date. I look forward to seeing #470 under steam! Keep up the great work!!
If I had a paypal, I’d donate. Sadly I’m not quite old enough, I really appreciate what you guys are doing. Its sad there’s really no big steam locomotives that survived in New England besides MEC 501 and 470. Maybe B&M 1455 and that one prairie on display in Edaville. It would be cool if some billionares were into railroding and could donate to these projects.
B&M 3713 survives as well, but she was under ownership of Steamtown when it was located in Bellows Falls, VT, when they moved to Scranton, she followed with the rest of the collection. She’s also being restored at this time as well, but she likely won’t see home rails while under steam for Steamtown, but she’ll be operative
Does anyone think that 470 will ever make the trip to Conway Scenic? Sounds a bit ridiculous, but something I'd love to see. 2 iconic steam locos that both worked in the mountains of New England could be united again!
Such a great project! On the same level of importance as firing up 611 or getting 4014 back into service! Keep up the great work on this Mascot of Maine!
Imagine 470 and 3713 reuniting and running together as Maine sisters, I can see it happening in a few years once their respective restorations are complete.
Also this is just an opinion but I think the heavy pacific is the best looking aside from the decapod and Berkshire, and also love the instrumental we make a team together behind it it brings back lots of memories from the old days when I was 7 and 8

Nice job guys! Look forward to more of these updates.

It’s gonna be so great to have the old lady back on the rails
Maybe one day she can reunite with 501 in Conway, which will hopefully be restored at that time.
@@thatoneguy611, and if they double head that would be great! I once saw a picture of them doubling but they were facing the opposite direction
I got a Broadway limited ho scale 4-6-2 pacific I plan on turning into #470. Can't wait to see this gem of a loco back in service
My brother and I used to love climbing on this engine as kids. I can't wait to see it back up and running!
Yeah, me too. Lots of times, as it was practically in my back yard, the North End of Waterville.
We love hearing these stories! So exciting to hear how much this locomotive means to so many Mainers!
This engine is a gem, I hope to see it alive again.
Wishing best of luck from Louisiana!

Great work! Please keep sharing us these updates.
Wow this has progressed well. Look forward to it running again. Excellent narrator!
I'm from San Diego but I have family in Augusta. I saw 470 up in Waterville once; never dreamed I'd see it running again!
Excellent video! I hope to join you folks in rebuilding her this next summer!

Good luck in your restoration efforts. We hope to see the engine running soon.

Possible, but unlikely. Depends on what will happen with 501.
501 is now being restored to operation by them. Maybe they could bring it up to Maine.

Can’t wait till then
Another 4-6-2 Pacific being restored besides Boston and Maine #3713. MEC #470 has been put in restoration.
Nice. You guys have 470 subscribers right now.
I also heard from the Conway Scenic that they're going to try restoring MEC 501.
This is some GREAT footage, Loved it & Subscribed 👍😎
Will this locomotive run for Downeast Scenic Railroad?
Sure will!

Imagine if 501 was restored too, and if 7470 joined them! There could be a Great Gala of New England Steam!
UPDATE: 501's restoration is now underway by the Conway Scenic.
considering how Steamtown is, 3713 won't be done for a long while.
Cool 4-6-2 Pacific
Any time or day when a steam locomotive is rebuilt back into service is a great day!
We need Maine central 470 on the railroader rails

I love this Corporation!
In 2013, restoration begins on the #470.
Soon they’ll have 470 subscribers
Good luck
Very Nice!
@@terryharper2024 Thank you, Terry. Your work on the Eagle Lake locos should be noted here as well.
You got some support from VA! 👌

Technically 4070 would be on home rails if it was able to run there
Im sure this will be operational by 2021 2022 or 2023
I think it will be done next year
It’s gonna be at least another 3 or 4 years
They're hoping to get it operational in time for it's 100th birthday in 2024. Not too much longer!
