This has become a staple recipe for me-making it for New Year’s Eve as we speak. Your videos have been incredibly helpful for this relatively new Big Green Egg owner, keep em coming!
That looks delicious with the chuck roast. I'll have to try it but with black beans. I just can't have chili without the beans. Thank you for another wonderful recipe and video! I made the Cuban Pork Mojo last weekend and it was definitely a winner! That was requested to be put into a monthly rotation. Best pork we've ever eaten.
You have no idea how much you just made my day! Hit me up n Insta, FB or email, ron@fogocharcoal.com. I'd love to send some stickers or something out to you
Great video as always! I have a video request. Please show us how you get the thread off the charcoal bag so easily. Sometimes I luck into it and I can do it, but other times I can’t. It drives me nuts!
That looked great,I’ve done this on my Reqtec pellet grill but with pork but I might have to give the Chuck roast a try just not a big beef person.Love the No bean part too.🔥❤️👍😋
This is one of my favorite videos of recent!! (They're all good, I just love chili) So, Matt's show notes: 1. We use a can opener the same way. And, people look at me funny😂 2. Heat proof gloves are underrated. I have MechanixWear, and 1 size up nitrile will fit right over them. 3. I do ground chuck, but at home. Only 1 pass through the largest plate of my grinder, so it's still chunky. However, I love your low and slow shredded method! 4. Texas always! I'm a 🚫🫘 guy 💯 5. Inquiry... Love the clay pot... Temp it can withstand? 6. Fritos thicken it beautifully! Last time I made, I gave them a quick spin in my mini prep, and stirred them in. Maybe the last half hour. Thanks for another awesome video Captain!!
Yup, one of things I learned living in Texas for a couple years, chili does not have beans. Also I was taught to add some masa flour to thicken the sauce a little bit.
That looks super delicious, I'll be making some. The one thing that I'd do a little different, I'd cut the meat into a few chunks and sear over high heat on the grill or on a pan to add some more flavor.
Good news! There is a link for it right in the video description but here you go... kookio.com/collections/cookware/products/romertopf-dutch-oven-organic-clay-cookware
Great video Captain Ron! I liked it so much I bought a Romertopf bbq dutch oven through the link. It didnt come with any user instructions about soaking or seasoning the pot, just a booklet in several languages with a couple tips, like use hot gloves to handle it. I reached out through the Kookio site and haven't heard back. Any tips you have would be great.
Hope you enjoy, I sure do love mine! I do believe Michelle from customer service should have gotten back to you by now. Let me know if you need anything else.
Have always used ground beef, but I will try a chuck roast next time. With the veggies I put just a little oil in the bottom so they do not stick. Oh, and you forgot the beans.
Big pot of chili like that and only TWO garlic cloves? This may be our first disagreement. 8 cloves minimum. Keep up the good work, Captain! #ToTheRefrigerator
OMG! The meat just shredding in your fingers! For those that, like beans in their chili, they can just add them in! Absolutely mouthwatering video! The only problem was Kaitlyn wasn’t there to taste it, at least on camera! I think you’re cooking is like the bat signal for her!
I recently Ordered the green egg grill with the charcoal Honestly I was so excited! But after cooking with this product I just realized how cheaply made it is the charcoal you can taste in the food it’s very cheap burns way to fast just does not get hot enough to cook the meat how I like it I highly recommend staying AWAY from these products specially the green egg
Sorry that you did not like it. It sounds to me like something was not set up right. I'd be happy to talk to you and see if we can figure out what went wrong.

Captain Ron, you just blew my mind with the can opener thing. The next time I need to open a can, I am going to try that. Can't wait.
LOL! you're gonna be amazed!

Thanks for always being awesome Eagle Egger!
That was some of the best looking chili that I have ever seen. Great video as usual, Captain Ron.

It was! Thanks James. I'm always happy to get a compliment from you

I think we should make some together
I'm going to make this. Thanks!

I know this was freaking tasty!
You are wise beyond your years!
Your link to the Dutch oven only has the .6 liter one available. I mistakenly ordered it. Do you have an alternate link?
I do not. I understand they may have stopped producing that one for some reason.
Yup, one of things I learned living in Texas for a couple years, chili does not have beans. Also I was taught to add some masa flour to thicken the sauce a little bit.
I have actually heard of that too but this was plenty thick on its own!
It is also great with Pork Picnic Roast on over the top. Try it with serrano peppers on beef and pork over the top chili.
Oh YES!!! I like your style.

That's a whole other flavor that it creates. I really just wanted a light smoke. try it, you just may surprise yourdself!
Great Recipe & Video Capt. Ron🥂Is that the 4.25liter Romertoff you used in video? Thanks
Yes it is, you are correct. It is awesome
Thanks now I’m going to buy it. The pics for some reason make it look a lot smaller Thanks again
This looks AMAZING! Where did you get that ceramic pot? I want one!

Thank you, she did get back and is working on it.
OK, here's the deal. It is recommended to soak it for 30 minutes prior to the first use. After that, just make sure that the clay is hydrated.
Thank you
Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to talk about those pots a bit in a video. They seem to be getting pretty popular in the comments on this vid.
The can opener thing alone made this worthwhile.
LOL< my sister called me and said that she couldn't believe how much better that little trick works!

Beans beans, they're good for your heart.......
I am a no bean chili man myself and will be making that soon. How long did the whole process take so I can time my dinner?
It took about 4-4 1/2 hours from start to finish
@@FOGOcharcoal Thanks for the info, might make this in a couple of weeks after moving back home soon.
What's the name of the pot?
It is a Romertopf Dutch Oven and there is a link to it in the video description
It does look amazing....but, I gotta have beans! I'm a yankee anyway so pffft. Anyway I am going to do this next!
You have full FOGO permission to add beans to the recipe.....
I'm sure I will! Can't wait. But I'm making a batch of venison OTT chili now, so it will be a while...😢

thats chili on steroids for sure..I would have to trim that roast some though..thanks
LOL, kicked up for sure. The fat renders nicely during the smoking process. you can always skim it off of the top when it;s done.
In-laws came into town. We were so eager to cook on the Egg Grill.. DISAPPOINTMENT to say the least. DO NOT GET THE EGG. We threw our food away :(
Sorry to hear that. Was that your first time using it? There can be a little bit of a learning curve....
