    Just thought I'd drop a little info here since you were wondering about why the set came with two Whites:
    You'll notice one is named "Titanium White" and the other is just "White," and the titanium white may appear somewhat more opaque and has a cooler/more blue undertone. Traditionally in painting, Titanium White made with the standard PW6 pigment is meant be used as a stand-alone opaque white and isn't recommended for mixing. Other whites (usually named Zinc White or Chinese White) are usually made with different pigments like PW4 or PW5, either on their own or mixed in with PW6, and are usually more transparent and better for mixing with other colors. However, companies do not always have to disclose if they've mixed other pigments with PW6, and PW6 can be processed or formulated differently on its own to produce results more like whites used for mixing than the traditional titanium white.
    So most likely Arteza has included the Titanium White as the "true white" for the set to be used by itself, while the regular White is meant to be used more for mixing with other colors.

    Just want to share a bit more. For opening tube caps (and jars in my kitchen, too!) I keep a couple of medical gloves in my drawers -- may be more relevant since COVID hit us. For really stuck caps/tops,I learned when I tried DIY car repair that it helps to turn the cap to the Right (righty-tighty) to screw tighter, which sometimes helps break the seal, then turn Left (lefty-loosey) to unscrew! For jars, I run a butter knife under the seal to break it when I'm stumped. I have a set of acrylic paints in big jar that dries sealed and are notoriously hard to open EVERY time I need them.

    Thank you Jen for all your great videos xoxo

    I got that 60 gauche set, too, and I love it. They are so perfect for the type of blending in coloring where you give everything a sort of glow (dark to light on outer edges), like I do. I swatched them and later realized when I needed just a swipe of one color, that I could lift the paint off the swatch! So, if one was inclined, she could create DIY paint "cards"/papers with paint on them to take with her anywhere -- I wait in doctors' offices often, too! All you need is a bottle of water, which can be refilled in bathroom when dirty, and there are usually paper towels in there, too, to help with cleaning the brush.

    I am so impressed with these Arteza Gouache colors including the metalliacs they will be the next complete set of paints I buy. thank you for the video because they have prussian blue. that sold me right there. I would have liked you to show what their brushes can do, just a drop of water would help that mica move in the gold and metallic paints. It should have an inky consistency. Plus round brushes are not meant for outlining perhaps an angled brush with nylon bristles and short would have helped you get into the points and curves.

Yay, now I have them to swatch in my new watercolor swatch book of yours. Now to figure out where to put a little blob of on. What are you using for your blobs?

    I have these tubes of paint but have yet to swatch them. My R Arthritis has been hurting all summer with the extreme heat with humidity and then we get a series of dry days which helps so I haven't had the chance to get to do much swatching . From what I see you're doing I really like them, thank you so much for taking the time to video.

    Funny how different we swatch. I put my colors in rainbow order saving my browns, grays, white and black to put together. Also the pinks go right after the violets. All my pearl and metallic colors are also separate and together.

    • @ColoringBliss
      @ColoringBliss  5 років тому

      For this video I was swatching in the same order as the colors were listed on the box of 60 Arteza Gouache. Sometimes it’s baffling to me why the manufacturer puts their colors in certain orders

    • @ColoringBliss

      Yes! From what I’ve seen, about 80% of the time gouache comes in tubes but you can find it in pans (cakes) and tubs. Check out Caren D’Ache

    Great review thank you so much for doing this. I have a question maybe someone can answer, can you use color pencils over gauche, and can you use gauche over color pencils for highlights. Thanks again and take care

    • @bluepetalmedia9699
      @bluepetalmedia9699 5 років тому

      I've seen artists on UA-cam use white gauche over pencils for highlights (specifically Holbein gauche); not sure if pencils work over gauche.

    • @ColoringBliss
      @ColoringBliss  5 років тому +1

      Yes! Yes to all of the above. One thing to keep in mind is...the thicker the layer of gouache the more brittle. This can cause a strange texture to do layering with. Have fun experimenting.

    Do someone have a recommendation for a black liner to use over colored pencils?? The ones I’ve used, only dry out when I use it over colored pencils😓

    • @Tippel3
      @Tippel3 5 років тому

      it's because the oils and pigment is clogging the pen. You need to clean your pen permanently if you use it over colored pencil. You could try a posca pen, it's basically an acrylic marker but the fine ones (not the smallest, one size higher) have a plastic nib that can be teken out and cleaned. Also it doesn't clog that fast but it's matte acrylic paint and looks a bit different than a liner. Depends on what exactly you're doing with it, wouldn't recommend it for lining but for a bit here and there, it's perfect

    • @sorry-I-write-long-comments
      @sorry-I-write-long-comments 5 років тому

      Jeanne d'Arc I have Posca pens, it’s what I’m currently using as liner😊 thanks for the explanation for why the pens don’t work, it’s good to know that it’s not me that have bought a set with no quality😉

    You are right..this is quite long. It could have been shorter if just a few colors were swatched. I'm still in the process of watching the whole vedio and hope you demonstrate how to paint a small picture with guash in this vedio... and if blending colors are done the way you have done swatches.
