Football needs to be more creative when it comes to extra time. 2 halves of 15mins is not attractive football. Switch it to only one extra time period of 15 mins and take out 1 player from each side. A 10 vs 10 will open up the field to scoring of goals, plus team will be allowed 2 additional substitutes in extra time to the current 5 subs used for regulation period. Easy solution for extra time. Increase squad sizes to 30 and substitutions to 10 players. Playing 120 minutes of football is a lot for even the fittest player. It would reduce injuries and an extra level of tactical possibilities.
Of course Kane needs to be dropped, he was horrendous not only the last game with Swiss but the last 4 tournaments for England. We all know that. But we also know Southgate won't do it because Southgate wants to be known as a player's coach , a coach who's close with his star players and have the support of all starters. Southgate needs this because he knows the world is against him the last 7 years.
To make the games more exciting get rid of extra time and if at the end of full time the game is tied, the team with most shots on target - including hitting a post or bar - goes through. If still tied, then penalties.
yeah not sure at all what mcmanaman was talking about on that when he said people just groan when it goes to extra time. never heard any groans myself.
I definitely don't want to see matches go straight to penalties personally. I do agree that fixture congestion is an issue, and unfoetunately the money side of the game will only want more matches to be played. And usually money wins. So likely we will see extra time scrapped in the future. But it's unfortunate.
Not that I know anything but I’ve noticed Kane being open a number of times and his teammates never pass him the ball. Seems he only gets it when a desperate header is needed. He didn’t get an extra time penalty kick.
Stevie Nicol is right about extra time. I think most fans don't want games decided by pens but the reality is if you play 90mins plus an extra 30mins extra time you really can't moan about going to the lottery of pens. At the end of the day most football fans want to see the best teams advancing and dropping extra time would mean the chances of teams fluking results just got a whole lot bigger. I am not sure how much extra time players play over a season but I'm willing to bet it's a tiny amount.
There used to be ‘silver goal’, extra time has two halves of 15 minutes, with the silver goal, if a team scores in the first half of 15 minutes then there won’t be a second half.
the sheer disrespect from the naff host and Mark Ogden in particular, absolutely grim. Get behind the England team or STOP TALKING. It's a semi-final of a summer international tournament, not the Premier League.
Of course it isn't, players are with their clubs week in, week out and only join up with their countries for a few days every now and then. What else do you expect?
Yet you’ll never be as excited and pumped watching your country play in WC or Euro as watching your favorite club in CL. In terms of prestige and career achievements, the international competitions are at a different level.
Emi Martinez probably the best stopper in pens in the world he’s just reactive, has confidence, looks at hips, and has the advantage of quick reflexes and size
I think england win this euros and gareth bows out and no one will get us as far for decades, it will be the perfect example of how the british constantly turn on there own 🙌
I mean, it's literally painful to watch the games - it's not a business where all you care about is growth, it's a sport that people watch for enjoyment People still talk about England games from 30 years ago - this stuff is just unwatchable
They should do what hockey does. Unlimited extra time in the knockout rounds until someone scores the winner Thats the only way to make the game more exciting by letting the teams know that there is no more the lottery of a penalty shootout.
It used to be that the international game was the place where the best of the best came together to play. Countries had clear footballing identities and styles of play that were shaped by an entire country's cultural identity. Players easily fit into a country's style because they grew up playing that way. Today, their clubs have far greater influence than their place of birth does. So, you have teams like England, the US, Mexico, the Netherlands struggling to find an identity as a group of 11. And the Swiss have shown that a sense of Identity counts for a lot in this sport.

Easy solution for extra time. Increase squad sizes to 30 and substitutions to 10 players. Playing 120 minutes of football is a lot for even the fittest player. It would reduce injuries and an extra level of tactical possibilities.
I want Chelsea to sign Ivan Toney next season .
More a minute there I thought they meant the segment 😰🤣🤣
Of course Kane needs to be dropped, he was horrendous not only the last game with Swiss but the last 4 tournaments for England. We all know that. But we also know Southgate won't do it because Southgate wants to be known as a player's coach , a coach who's close with his star players and have the support of all starters. Southgate needs this because he knows the world is against him the last 7 years.
start Toney
England Keep Calm and Harry On
Chiesa can also be a good option for Chelsea next season.
To make the games more exciting get rid of extra time and if at the end of full time the game is tied, the team with most shots on target - including hitting a post or bar - goes through. If still tied, then penalties.
I thought people loved extra time, more football
yeah not sure at all what mcmanaman was talking about on that when he said people just groan when it goes to extra time. never heard any groans myself.
i do
Only when they're not playing to force the PK shootout.
6:27 international football aint the pinicle. If you put real madrid or man city into the euros they would walk it
Teams should strive to win in 90 minutes
only thing they should get rid of is ESPN Extra Time show
Why not just have a set 15 minutes extra time. 30 minutes too long. Simple
i reckon go with with 10mins per half and if you score in the 1st half you win at half time.
What ever is added or removed, at the end, the game have to be more fair and exciting. Then everything will fall in place
They should bring back golden goal and if the 30mins pass they do the penalty
That just made teams too scared of conceding, it was boring
There used to be ‘silver goal’, extra time has two halves of 15 minutes, with the silver goal, if a team scores in the first half of 15 minutes then there won’t be a second half.
Nah, that was awful. Just keep the 30 minutes and penalties. The drama is fine as it is.
the sheer disrespect from the naff host and Mark Ogden in particular, absolutely grim. Get behind the England team or STOP TALKING. It's a semi-final of a summer international tournament, not the Premier League.
International football is not as good standard as champions league football and that’s just a fact
@@parshakamarsh I don’t expect anything I’m just saying it how I see it, it’s everyone else who seem to think international football is top
Why repeat and re release this footage!!!??
Emi Martinez probably the best stopper in pens in the world he’s just reactive, has confidence, looks at hips, and has the advantage of quick reflexes and size
Shaka knows.
How about extra time, but its mandatory to bring ALL players off the bench to play the extra time?
Club football is higher than international thank u very much shak
Why not have the penalties before Extra Time, then the team that lost have to go for it and win
We have been very lucky to get where we are, without a future game plan based on the oppositions style however, we won't win the competition.
Southgate substituted Kane at extra time only to avoid curse of penaltis😂
Why southgate look like a mini dinosaurs in the thumbnail 😂
Stevie was right for once. lmao
I think england win this euros and gareth bows out and no one will get us as far for decades, it will be the perfect example of how the british constantly turn on there own 🙌
I mean, it's literally painful to watch the games - it's not a business where all you care about is growth, it's a sport that people watch for enjoyment
People still talk about England games from 30 years ago - this stuff is just unwatchable
agreed, arrogance and a lot of the fans don't understand what they've got now.
I hate the penalty shootout. Do extra time with 8v8. Easy
You get 6 subs for a game that goes to extra Time
They should do what hockey does.
Dropping Kane a stupid idea.
