Adventure VLOG 206 - BLUEFIN TUNA down at Jacksons Bay - The one that got away

- Bit of another bitzer. We finally nail a bluefin Tuna after a lot of time and effort put into it. A coupkle of deer hit the deck after a visit to the DOC land next to Waipuna Station ( some massive stags around there, very good genetics ) some bastard pinches my deep cell battery, the box and the DC DC charger, a spot of jetboating and some campfire cooking. We have The Roaring Billy Block in Haast booked in for the first period of the roar, a couple of Tahr hunting trips on the cards, Kaikoura this week to see if the stags are roaring yet and a a heap of other bits and pieces in between.
What an exciting time of year.

my guess would be those docking rings were put on the poo tube and the throat to stop shit and stomach juices coming out and getting into the cavity.

Wish I was back home (Banks Peninsula} right now. Just picked my wife up from the Brisbane airport, she's been with her family in Akaroa and bloody went and saw Shihad in Hagley park while I went to work and walked the dog.

The rings are used as weasand clips to stop the contents spilling out and ruining the meat. They're used in freezing works extensively.
Why is it that you do it though? Why not just rip the whole gut bag out, I'm interested to know cheers
@@bush600r2 If the meat is to be sold commecially there are food safety regs to consider. HACCP principles are used in factories to manage food safety standards, I imagine this would apply in the field as well for commercial operators. Preventing contents from contaminating meat is a critical control point.

im a fellow deer stalker from scotland! im interested to know how the management of deer works in NZ, the mass gralloch piles intrigued me, im assuming management is rather intense?
The government spread a poison called 1080 over all our forest's. They are doing thier best to eradicate deer.
We are allowed to shoot as as many deer as we want. There is no limit.
The helicopter companies can shoot as many deer as they want, so they can export the meat to Germany.
It's crazy

The reels are Shimano tiagra 50 wides. Not sure what the rods are, bit the buts have all cracked so they don't sit in the gimbal. The best rod is the kilwell

Weasand clips aye. Googling. I guess times have changed. When I was shooting we just ripped out the guts and hacked it off, leaving offal in the carcus. Us kiwis have always had room for improvement though. Cheer
