Clicked this vid because I found this bait brand new stuck under a rock in our creek. I bet that guy was MAD!
Slow down on your hook set. If the fish spits it out, let it go to bottom and twitch a couple of times. It will come back.
Interesting that you had problems with hooksets. I fish these exact lures during the spawn and never have a problem. I caught 12 bass in 2 hours with one earlier this year, and never had issues with the hook set

I've read that you can pretty dramatically improve the hook set in top water frogs with similar hooks by slightly bending the hooks out with a pair of pliers. I would be curious to see if doing that to this particular lure would help.
This dude knows. All you gotta do is bend the hooks out just a bit. I've also heard of guys putting a single 2/0 or 3/0 ewg on the he back of those which would definitely increase the hookup ratio
That's exactly what I was going to suggest cause the hooks have a pretty small Gap to begin and not much arch hope this helps
I bought this bait two days ago and tried it. No luck at all with it. On top of that I’m still a beginner when it comes to fishing. I did catch a nice 3-4lbs bass on a rooster tail and almost had a gar using a clear shad looking lure.
Tomorrow supposed to be 71 degrees. Today the highest will be 64 here in AL. Currently 45 degrees. It will not be in the 60s till 1pm
Its the way you set hooks..is why.. hooks like that need an upward hookset like a spinning rod straight up.. cos the hooks need to come up into the top of the mouth.. doing sidways hookset like the sweep style only turns the craw to its side or straight out of the mouth of the fish... bet if you were on a boat or a dock with a little elevation and a better angle to the water you would have had an easier time..

I just bought this lure on a whim because I don't see many lures like it anywhere and it looked interesting to try. Wish I would have seen this video first...but...there's a time, place, and condition for everything eh? Where I am you rarely ever actually see crayfish move and swim unless they're spooked. If you still have this lure try fishingnit super extremely slow. I'm going to try that.
I agree on how the hooks are designed 100%! It will be weedless and practically snagless but hook ratio is going to suck unless you let the fish swallow it but then you'll have to dig deep to get it out of them.
bphft yeah man the baits works great just try different ways of movement! Hook are not the best just keep setting like I did hope u have some luck man

Swim it. It’s a reaction lure. Look at the tail cause crawfish swim backwards IMO. The line tie causes that chevron off.
Getting ready to leave for fishing today I have a few of these but no idea how to use them thanks after watching the video I think I will leave them in the package and see if I can sell them.
What about trailer hooks?
Is there a sway to bend the hooks out some,to help with hook up ratio.or is the weed guard easy to cut or rip out ?
Jeremy Voegeli the gaurd it cable you could cut it off but I don’t think that would do much problem is seedless hooks on it are not wide enough personally I’d just fish it like it it I have one need to use it
I wouldn't cut that guard off because it's going to allow the hook itself to drop way below and Bloor kind of underneath it which is really going to affect the hookup ratio even more I'd think , if you're going to do any modeling just use a pair of pliers in bend the barbs out and away instead of down and in like they are outta the box , they definitely could have done better on the hooks but overall I'm excited to go try it
